Sprint Moto X & any Moto G Flashed to Reliance CDMA FINAL Photo Tutorial Updated:- 08/04/2014 New Method Works 100% Follow easy to use , Modified Photo Tutorial http://www.slideshare.net/hambarde/moto-g-ver3final _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tested on Verizon and confirmed to be working on Boost model. 1) First we need working wifi connection on phone 2) Then an APK from this link >> http://www.mediafire.com/download/i038c12rrdcbtlj/SPCUtility.apk 3) Allow this MSL app to use WiFi, 4) It gives you SPC, [Works on Verizon and Boost both] [Also works with sprint Moto X] 5) for boost Moto G and Sprint Moto X ##diag# works, but dose not work for Verizon. 6) For verizon Diag , Turn off mobile, remove usb cable, and Press both vol key + power button. 7) As soon as you leave these keys , one menu will pop-up. 8) use vol down keys to select BP Tools then connect use cable. 9) then press vol up . Phone will boot normally with DIAG turn ON. 10) for Boost ##diag# require SPC, which you will get it by SPC apk. 11) now PC will search for drivers (even latest moto driver pack dont have drivers for this) 12) attaching drivers for moto g DIAG. (install it manually) 64Bit Drivers | 32Bit Drivers 13) Use DFS, send SPC. and Put phone in Offline-A mode 14) then you need to change phone and min number to any 1234567890 to change PRL 15) till that time PRL wont change, 16) From DFS you can write AKey. 17) But for data need to use DUMP file, 18) you can use CW nv item write and write DATA DUMP, use free NV Item writer from CW http://www.cdma-ware.com/workshop/nv-items/NV-items_reader_writer.rar (get CW3.6 Dump after registration) here also need to put phone in Offline-A mode before writing DUMP to phone 19) after writing all above, go to DFS and change Min and MDN to ZERO so you will be ready for activation (*228). 20) As you always do - Hit Like UPDATE :- If phone is on 4.3, then you should first update to 4.4.2 then do above steps, other wise you need to redo data settings and might have to flash PRL again. Here are official drivers from Motorola http://www.mymotocast.com/download/MDM?platform=windows I have not tested it but hope this works. These official driver dont work, use above 32bit or 64bit drivers Update : 19/03/2014 1)32bit Drivers mention in point no -12 are tested on WinXP 32bit and on Win7 32bit 2) 64bit Drivers are tested on Win7 & 8 64bit. 3) After factory reset, Min and akey stays as it is, But need to re-configure DATA and PRL. 4) One Click update to 4.4. for boost works perfectly from fastboot mode. Link [and it takes only 10min to update from 4.3 to 4.4.2] 5) Need to reconfigure PRL and DATA after one Click update [same as updating on Wifi] Update 25/03/2014 Photo tutorial [Drivers and Sending SPC] LINK removed, use link on top Update 08-04-2014 (use link on top) Photo tutorial [ Till voice and sms configuration] Data config will be updated sooooon...... You reading this post because you have an imported/foreign CDMA handset with you and its ESN/MEID is registered in Reliance database. If ESN/MEID is not registered then you can check this topic. Now you want this handset to be working on India's Largest and RIMweb's beloved CDMA network! Though this area is little tricky for n00b's, past knowledge of CDMA development plays a key role. But if you don't have anyone this post will help you (hopefully); fingers crossed! PLEASE NOTE THIS PROCESS CAN GET YOU VERY EXPENSIVE AND ULTRA MODERN PAPERWEIGHT. SO YOU SHOULD KNOW WHAT YOU DOING. IF YOU DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN THEN GET IT DONE WITH THE HELP SOMEONE AS MENTIONED IN THE FAQ TOPIC. Prerequisites 1) CDMA 800 Mhz handset (Which ofcourse you have) with its data cable. 2) CDMA workshop v 2.7 (though there are more softwares to do it, this is used commonly) - Use Google to find 2a) There is a possibility that your handset isn't supported by CDMA Workshop v 2.7. In that case you need QPST - Use Google to find 3) Knowledge of how to put your particular handset in DIAGNOSTIC mode along with its driver. You can Google that out. 3a) Though I have personally done 100's of different handset models, keeping track of each handset model is difficult. So I am mentioning the most common DIAG mode enabler below: HTC Handsets: ##3424# or ##3424+Call button. Palm/HP: ##8727277# Samsung: ##8778# and select modem. BlackBerry DIAG behaves on virtual port created by installing BlackBerry DM. This list will be huge if i keep writing. So I'll suggest if your handset isn't mentioned in this list then please ask on this topic and I will try to reply with your enabling DIAG solution. 4) Diagnostic Driver for your device. (There are so many handsets and usually there are different drivers for each devices, so this is something you have to request here, commonly used DIAG Drivers - Google for it) 5) Windows PC with XP or Win 7 32 bit. (Its very difficult to find 64 bit drivers so I'll keep and support this tutorial for 32 bit only) 6) Carrier specific NAM PRL or Preferred Roaming list file. (Check the pinned topics in Technical forum) 7) A-key or Authorization key. (will be provided by ESN/MEID Registrar or handset seller) 8) Your handset's SPC (check your handset cover box or ask your handset seller). How to / Step by Step: Note - There are many handsets/models and each time process is little different. But basic changes to latch your phone to Reliance network is mentioned here. I am using HTC DEVICE to do it for Tutorial. 1) Pick your phone and enable Diagnostic mode in it. ( I am using HTC HERO and so i punch: ##3424#). Please find your phone DIAG enabler in prerequisites above. 2) Connect your Phone to PC using Data cable and let the Driver search process begin. (mostly Driver installation failed and you have to do it manually) See pic or video. 3) Now open CDMA workshop (You might have to disable your antivirus, as the crack for CDMA workshop uses Trojan pattern) 4) Open Device manager and expand Ports (COM & LPT) there u see which COM PORT assigned for your device. In my case its Com PORT 7 5) Select that comport on CDMA workshop and press connect. and press read. 6) Go to security Tab and enter SPC and press SEND button. return message should be SPC COrrect Phone unlocked See pic. 7) Now go to Nam Tab and press load and select Reliance.nam and press write. 8) Go to CAVE and enter your akey and press write. (You might have to calculate akey, see pic for details on calculation) 9) Go to Other tab and press write under PRL select Reliance.PRL file return message should be success. 10) Now your phone is flashed on Reliance CDMA network.  Note - Now after this process you need to visit Reliance webworld to transfer ur number from existing handset/RUIM to this phone. U can also use HCC (Handset Change Card) if its available and work in ur city/state. Hope you enjoy flashing your phone. Thanks. EVDO Activation & Configuration For questions related to generating the NV dump file with EVDO parameters and submitting EVDO activation request, please check the FAQ topic. If you have the NV dump file from your handset seller or MEID/ESN registrar, you can follow these steps to upload the NV dump file to start using EVDO: 1) Go to "Security" tab in CDMA Workshop and Send the SPC as explained earlier in this topic. 2) Once it showed that the phone has been unlocked, go to the "Memory" tab and click "Write" under "NV Items" 3) Clik OK when it shows that you have to send the SPC and then you will be able to select the NV dump file. Browse and select the file. Sample file name is like "MEIDnumber@hrpd.rcom.co.in-net-NVItem-Script-PPP-HDR-27.txt" 4) Submit the file and it will show that the NV items have been written successfully. Now restart the handset and EVDO should work fine if the EVDO activation has been done already at Reliance.

There is not a single thread which gives all the information regarding the LS980. also i was getting lot of pm's regarding the GSM unlock. so basically this thread will have all the information, if anything is left out please feel free so message me or in thread. Phone Config LG-G2-LS980 Phone Drivers LS980 Drivers My Experience Personally i was a Samsung fan until they came out with the Kn0x security. i had 2 choice the Note 3 and the LG G2, since the Note 3 had issues with data not working on CDMA mode and the G2 was and still is wallet friendly, so i decided to go with the G2 and till date i DO NOT regret it. LAG is something that is simply not in its dictionary, super smooth. Like the HTC One this phone is also sealed and comes in 2 variants 16 and 32 Gigs. Initially only 2 colors Black and White, now the actual(international) site has many different ones. This one is a LCD compared to the S4 with AMOLED, To be frank only if you have the two phones together you might see the difference. I found the G2 to be more vibrant and a lil brighter side compared to the S4. 1000 times more accurate smartstay display than the S4, Same with auto brightness. Feels much lighter than the S4 and the build quality is anyday better than S4, feels solid in hand. Many have debated about the volume and power keys being at the back, actually its something you have to try and then understand, now if i handle any other phone than my G2 i tend to Tap the display 2 times softly to get the screen going, like the home or power button, im so used to it now. Tap 2 times on display to lock the screen & same to to light the display back again. Initially when i first got the phone i used to tap hard thinking that was the right way and 7/10 times it used to work, did not know that one has to tap very lightly as possible. Soft tap 2 times gets it locked and vice-versa 10/10 times. Its actually easier to use volume rockers in the center position then one side like anyother phone. Theres more to this phone and i dont have the patience nor time to explain everything. Phone definitely requires a case to protect it from fall, i have the Spigen Slim Armour. Runs on 4.2.2JB and 2 updates have been released till date. LS980ZV7 (Initial Release) LS980ZV8 (Security Update) LS980ZVA (Sprint Spark and loki-killer) Not used in India so i have not taken it. LS980ZVC (KitKat 4.4.2 OS Update) Also if you are a custom ROM freak DO NOT INSTALL the ZVA update as it removes the ability to do that. People who have taken it do not worry as there is a work around. Custom ROM installation for people who have taken ZVA update. Only if you understand everything mentioned in the above link proceed else you just might end up with a hard brick. Recovery for KitKat 4.4.2 LS980ZVC SOURCE GSM Unlock For G2 LS980 This is a temporary GSM unlock & not a permanent or a solid one. Two known issues, you cant access Wi-Fi settings, as it crashes if you try to access, and you cant dial any number without adding 0 before it. Example: Sunny Leons phone number is 6969696969, to call her you gotta dial 06969696969. If you dial direct 6969696969 the phone app crashes and your phone switches to GSM mode if you are in CDMA mode. As far as i know these are only 2 known bugs this unlock has. hope we get a more stable unlock. Install ROM Toolbox Lite 1 Run Rom Toolbox Lite and select performance marked in red 2 Select build.prop editor marked in red 3 Select search using the magnifying glass icon below marked in red 4 In search field type "build.target" as shown in pic below 5 Select "ro.build,target_operator" as show in pic below 6 Change value from "SPR" to "spr" as show in pic below and press ok marked in yellow. 7 Reboot popup will come, select ok and reboot the phone. Your phone should be GSM unlocked now. Install HIAPN or Tweakker for APN settings of your service provider. Install Telinfo to switch between CDMA(CDMA Auto PRL) & GSM(GSM Auto PRL) Permanent Unlock for the LG-G2-LS980

<< This service is not active anymore, so requests will NOT be accepted now. Please check: >> Ok guys... Now we are available here on RIMweb.in to provide the EVDO activation to Aam Admi who are unable to get it through the Reliance Contact Centre and/or Reliance Outlets. Following are the rules and regulations:- 1. EVDO Activation Request will be processed only for RIMweb.in Registered members having more than 10 posts. 2. Members need to send an email from the email address registered with your RIMweb.in profile with the following details to: evdo@rimweb.com or evdo@rimweb.in (please send to either one only and not both!!) RIMweb.in member username (this is the forum registration member profile username so that we can check your post count and NOT your full name) MDN - 10 Digit Number RSN - RSN Number of the handset/OMH Sim Card Handset - with model # Alternate Contact Number - Any Alternate Mobile Number to which a confirmatory call shall come from Mumbai Reliance Headquarters for EVDO Confirmation. 3. After sending the email the member will receive a confirmation email within the next 7 days. Members cannot make any irate demands for the activation of EVDO. We shall pick up the numbers once in a week for activation and the member should understand that it may take upto 10 days; though we will be trying to activate in 2-3 working days normally. 4. This activation procedure is meant for members who have purchased an EVDO handset along with OMH Sim Card (like Samsumg Galaxy POP, Corby, SCH 369, SCH 239, LG 510 Cookie, LG 235 etc.) from Reliance for which the EVDO parameters are already registered in OMH Sim Card with Reliance. The number/connection of the member should be on either an OMH SIM Card or a Non Sim handset which is having EVDO Facility and whose EVDO Parameters are also registered with Reliance. 5. An SMS will arrive on the member's handset regarding a request being registered at a Reliance Outlet and asking for overall experience. Member needs to either reply with "YES" or leave it. Please DO NOT reply with "NO". If we get a "NO" SMS from any member, then this project for EVDO Activation shall be closed immediately. And after getting EVDO Activated, Memeber may confirm us by posting here in this thread. Regards Amit Jain -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Read This: How is EVDO activated on Reliance CDMA? There are two steps for EVDO Activation First, the parameters of EVDO should be registered for the handset in Reliance Server. In case of OMH SIM Card and Official Reliance BlackBerry having EVDO (BlackBerry 9630, 9650, 9230, Style etc.) and Official Reliance Non SIM EVDO Handsets (Like - Samsung Atlas, Coolpad N900), the parameters are already registered with Reliance. And in case of Imported handsets, you need to check whether your EVDO parameters are registered with Reliance or not. We are NOT here for REGISTERING THE EVDO PARAMATERS of imported handsets. Second step is after your EVDO Paramters are available in Reliance Server, EVDO won't start automatically. We have to submit request for EVDO; WE ARE HERE DOING THIS WORK ONLY in this thread. We have seen many members asking for help to do this as Customer Care is clueless about it and that is why we are helping here. Additional Notes: * Making EVDO work on imported handset requires programming the handset with necessary HSD PRL's, HSD username and password in addition to the handset parameters being registered in Reliance Servers. That is outside the scope of this initiative. You may contact your handset seller for necessary assistance to register EVDO parameters at Reliance and configure in your handset if your handset's MEID/ESN is registered with Reliance. * We can activate EVDO on BlackBerry handsets only if you have active BIS Service (CDMA) on the handset. In Case of BlackBerry handsets, member will not get any Service Request SMS. We will get EVDO activated on BlackBerry handsets directly from AAA Phongen Team. * To configure handset like Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA: Go to Setting > Wireless > Mobile Network > APN > Add new APN > Username = MDN (10 digit number) Password = MDN (10 digit number) Homepage – www.google.com Save it and then select it as default. You can use now as per your NetConnect Traiff plan You can change NetConnect plans by calling: 180030005555 All data plans available for Reliance Mobile CDMA can be found in this topic plan details.doc plan details_smaller_file.pdf

Some important FAQ's from the point of view of consumers for Mobile Number Portability Everyone waiting with excitement for MNP launch in their respective circles. I thought some FAQ on important issues at one place will help all. So drafted this. I know there is a separate MNP thread but some critical information gets lost in so many posts and also some questions are not answered there. Hope you all find this useful. Will update this if something more comes to attention. Thank You and enjoy MNP. When is MNP being launched in my circle. Mobile Number Portability has been launched across India on 20th January 2011. For Official Confirmation of this, See Here http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__216104 In What circumstances my request for MNP may be rejected? -A period of 90 days has not expired from the date of porting if you have ported your number earlier. -A period of 90 days has not expired from the date of activation of your current number even if it was not ported earlier. -There are some outstanding dues by way of pending bill or bills. -There is a pending request for change of ownership of number. -The mobile number to be ported is sub-judice. -Any court has passed an order prohibiting the porting of the concerned number. What exactly is meant by outstanding dues. Outstanding dues will mean the amount by way of actually generated bills as on the date of your request for MNP. Suppose if your Billing Date is 7th of each month and you make a request for MNP on 15th of that month, outstanding dues will mean the amount of your bill generated on 7th of that month. The subsequent amount of your usage and rent till the time of actual number porting will have to be paid by you to your existing operator later on as and when the final bill is generated. However this amount is not considered as outstanding. You are only supposed to pay it. If you don't, then even after MNP, your number can be de activated by the new operator based on complaint by your existing operator. I am a very old mobile subscriber and in the earlier days there was a lot of deposits to be paid for STD, ISD. I have such deposits with my existing operator. Can i adjust it against my outstanding so as not to wait for a refund. You cannot. However as per the TRAI Quality of Service norms, your existing operator is supposed to refund you all the deposit within a period of 60 days from the date of closure. I am a CDMA subscriber and want to switch to a GSM Service. My friend is having GSM Service and wants to switch to CDMA Service? Is it possible? Yes. You will be able to switch from CDMA>GSM as well as GSM>CDMA.But you will need a GSM Handset if switching from CDMA and CDMA handset if switching from GSM. I am swiching from CDMA to CDMA and have an official handset from my current operator. Will the same handset work with the new operator. If you are having an OMH (Open Market Handset) Sim CDMA handset, it will work with the new CDMA service provider. For other handsets it is a grey area. TRAI in its Mobile Number Portability Regulations has mentioned the following as one of the reasons for rejection of MNP request. "there are subsisting contractual obligations in respect of which an exit clause has been provided in the subscriber agreement but the subscriber has not complied with such exit clause:" There are lots of CDMA handsets sold at cheap rates by operators. You pay as less as Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 for them. However we all don't care to read the fineprint of terms and conditions. If the terms and conditions says that the handset is the property of the operator, then you will be stuck there as the operators will interpret the above TRAI clause as per their convenience and say that the customer needs to return the handset back to them. I am a postpaid subscriber but would like to be prepaid one with the new operator. Yes you can do that. You can also be a postpaid subscriber from prepaid. I am a prepaid subscriber and have a good amount of balance in my account. Will it be carried forward to new operator. No. You will lose your prepaid credit balance with the existing operator. I have a lot of add on packs like SMS, Onnet free talktime etc. Will it be carried forward to the new operator of my choice. Unfortunately No. You will have to select a fresh plan of your choice from the new operator. For how long my services be disrupted. Your services will be disrupted for not more than 2 hours on the day of actual porting. Even this will be mostly done between late evening to early morning hours to cause least inconvenience. Your phone will remain operational on all days while your MNP request is under process. I am interested in switching to a new operator of my liking. What do i need to do? -Send an SMS: PORT<space>Mobile Number (that is to be ported) to 1900. For ex. PORT 1234567890 -Your existing operator will immediately provide you with a 8 digit alpha-numeric porting code that you need to submit to the operator you wish to opt to along with relevant documents. -The unique porting code will be valid for 15 days for all service areas except Jammu & Kashmir, Asaam & North East Licensed areas where the validity of the Unique Porting Code allocated to a subscriber will be 30 days from the date of request OR till such time the number is ported out, whichever is earlier, irrespective of the number of requests the subscriber makes. - You need to submit the documents to operator of your choice within this time frame. -Your number will be ported to the new operator within a maximum time frame of 7 Working days. For Jammu & Kashmir it will be maximum 15 Working days. What Documents are required for porting the number to a new operator? -Duly Filled Customer Application Form of your new operator alongwith the UPC (Unique Porting Code) details. -Your Adress Proof and Identity Proof. -Copy of last bill paid to your current operator. I made a porting request to the new operator but now changed my mind and do not want to shift. What to do? You can cancel your porting request to the new operator within 24 hours of submitting the application but the porting fees of Rs 19 (If you had paid) will be non refundable. I will port from say Reliance to Tata Docomo. I understand that my number remains the same but if i surrender my number in Tata Docomo, what happens to the number? Once you surrender your ported number, it will again revert back to the Original Operator for issue to a new customer. I stay in Gujarat but now will be shifting to Mumbai Soon. So i guess it makes sense to port my number to a Mumbai Circle Telecom Operator. Currently you can only port your number to an operator within your telecom circle. Inter Circle portability is not allowed yet but is on the radar of the govt. and will happen ultimately. Can i use the same SIM Card of my current operator after i port to a new operator. No. Your Operator will issue a new Sim Card to you. You can continue to use your current operator's Sim card even after you give the portability request but only till the time of actual porting. Once porting is done, insert the new sim card. I am sick of those unwanted marketing calls and already registered with the Do Not Call Registry. I guess even after porting i will have peace of mind as my number remains the same. Picture is not completely clear yet but some operators are saying that you will need to re-register for Do Not Call Registry. If your new operator has an option in the CAF form for activation of DND, select it otherwise activate it after porting. Is there any charges for this? TRAI has mandated maximum of Rs. 19/- for MNP request to be paid to your new operator. However your new operator has the option to waive it off. I fulfill all the criteria for porting my number still my porting request was rejected by my current operator/i am facing technical glitches wherein my current operator has de-activated my number but new operator is not activating hence i cannot make or receive any calls/What to do if i have any complaints regarding my MNP porting process? You should first try lodging complaints with your current/new operator for resolution of your MNP porting related complaints. If still there is no resolution, you can always complain to Deptt. of Telecom OR TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India). Officially neither DOT or TRAI has announced any procedure/contact details for people wanting to complain regarding MNP Process/issues. However, you can lodge your complain on the following public e-mail of DOT & TRAI. Deptt. Of Telecom ddgpg-dot@nic.in TRAI ca@trai.gov.in What Precautions i should take so that my porting request is not rejected? During Generating The Port Out Code: Ensure that the SMS you are sending for generating the Porting Code is without any signature. Many people put default signatures in their SMS. Some of the Operators are intentionally blocking the Generation of Port Code and you may receive messages like, "Can not process Your Request, Please Try After Some Time". In such cases, lodge a complaint with the Customer Service of Your Operator and wait for resolution. While lodging the complaint, be firm and tell your Operator that unless your complaint is processed in a reasonable time frame, You will take the matter further by lodging Complaints to DOT and TRAI. Before Proceeding to New Operator With Port In Request Ensure that there is no pending request for Change of Ownership of your number with the current operator. Ensure that you have already paid of your last generated bill to your current operator if you are a post paid customer. Check that 90 days have passed from the date when your services was activated with the current operator. If you have converted your Postpaid to Prepaid with your current operator, ensure that 90 days have passed from the date of activation of Prepaid. (Though this is not uniform and debatable) Do not give Port In request to more than One Operator with the same UPC Code. If you have received any free handset with time commitment or are under some scheme with your current operator which mandates you to fulfill certain obligations, Clarify with your current operator what you need to do so that your contractual obligations are fulfilled and port out will not be rejected. While Going to New Operator For Port In Ensure that your Unique Porting Code and Mobile Number is Correctly Filled in the Necessary Forms. During The Porting Process If you are a Postpaid Customer and a fresh bill is generated while the porting process is going on, Pay it off immediately preferably in Cash at the Operators Outlets, So it reflects immediately in your account.

99% of people know how to change mode from NV to RUIM using DFS, This is for the rest 1% who don't know. Download DFS and install on PC. Phone Drivers I'm using a LG G2 LS980 Sprint CDMA model, so illustrating for the said model Know your SPL/MSL code: Dial ##443336772# Shows MSL code near the bottom of the screen, write it or memorize it. Put the phone into DIAG mode: Dial ##3424#, Enter SPC/MSL code and press ok. Select enable and press ok. Your phone is in DIAG mode. Enable Debug in Developer Options of the phone. If you do not have Developer Options under settings simple go to Settings/About Phone/Software Information under this tap on Build Number 10 times continuously and it will enable the Developer Options in your phone. Put the phone in Charge only Now that your phone is connected, Run DFS on PC & Select Ports marked in red. Select LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM16) -> this can be any number, its 16 in my case. Once the above port is selected it should it indicate like shown in pic below marked in red. Double click on LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM16) marked in yellow. If properly connected, it should look like its shown in red in the pic below. Enter your SPC/MSL in the SPC field marked in yellow and then press the SPC button. It should say Device Unlocked in the log window of DFS shown below marked in orange. Now select programming marked in blue and then select read in config marked in red. Select the Ruim Config marked in yellow, change it from NV_ONLY to RUIM_ONLY. Once the mode is changed from NV_ONLY to RUIM_ONLY as shown below marked in red, select write marked in yellow & finally select Reset at top right corner of DFS marked in pink. Your phone should reboot and if your phone is capable of taking a RUIM SIM, all features like voice sms and data should work at this time. I try to make my tutorials as noob friendly as possible, if you still have doubts or confused, don't hesitate to ask.

Hello RIMwebians, This thread has been opened to clear all the doubts regarding using DATA Services on Reliance CDMA Phones. I see many members seeking for help to know details about the plans, or many members ends up making huge Bills due to wrong plan selected or wrong PPP used. PPP plays an important role while using the DATA on CDMA phones, its same as like APN in the GSM. The PPP you will use, you will be charged as per it only. There are two PPP :- RMW PPP and RNC PPP. If one use RMW PPP by taking RNC plan or vice versa, it will end up in huge bill or sudden decrement from Prepaid Balance. All PPP settings are initially done by your seller in case of Imported Handsets and are set to RMW in case of Proprietry Reliance Handset. So carefully choose the plan and use the PPP Accordingly. All plans listed can be used on the phone or tether to your PC. Any member can ask the question about the same if there is any doubt and all queries will be answered and solved within 48 hours. First of all I apologize for the delay in re-opening the Buy Sell forums. Yes, the Buy-Sell section is open now, and grander than ever before! Buy-Sell section is now a separate sub-forum accessible at http://buysell.rimweb.in using the same login that you have at RIMweb.in - So you do not have to register again. Just go to http://buysell.rimweb.in and you will be logged in automatically using your RIMweb.in forums login. I wanted to integrate the sub-forum completely including the existing member group and full profile; however this is still not done yet and I am continuing to work with 3rd party developers to achieve this so that it would be a fully seamless integration. Until this is achieved, we will manually sync your account details. Even though this is going to be a lot of manual work for the moderators, I had no choice but to re-open the Buy Sell forum with this temporary arrangement now since it is getting delayed a lot. Since the Buy-Sell section will function as a separate sub-forum, it will no longer clutter the main forums with Sell topics when there is a surge in new Sell topics and so there will be no more restriction period in between. It will be always open with scope for expansion instead of clogging up the main forums as it is due for expansion itself with the upcoming launch of Reliance Jio services. The existing guidelines and formats will be used as usual and this has been posted over to the new Buy Sell forums. The existing forum for Feedback topics will be used so that previous sellers will not lose their feedbacks. Note: For the temporary arrangement until full integration is achieved for automatically exporting member groups and member profile statistics, the following steps will be followed for manually syncing the member groups and stats. * Your first topic/post in the new Buy Sell sub forums will go into moderation preview queue. * The moderators will then look up your profile at RIMweb.in forums and will update the member groups and stats at BuySell.RIMweb.in * Your topic/post will then go live with your existing member profile details and thereafter you can post normally. Update: Please check the update in post #17

I am starting this topic for understanding the NV item and generating new dump file when we change or sell our Phones. If you see the NV items received from your seller you can understand that basically we have to change 37 items in Phone’s actual NV adresses in order to use it on Reliance CDMA… These are 0714 (0x02CA) 0460 (0x01CC) 0461 (0x01CD) 4396 (0x112C) 0463 (0x01CF) 0464 (0x01D0) 0462 (0x01CE) 0495 (0x01EF) 0546 (0x0222) 1907 (0x0773) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0465 (0x01D1) 2825 (0x0B09) 0466 (0x01D2) 0459 (0x01CB) 1194 (0x04AA) 0579 (0x0243) 1192 (0x04A8) 0580 (0x0244) 2953 (0x0B89) 0910 (0x038E) 0906 (0x038A) 8035 (0x1F63) You can see that many addresses are repeated in dump file. Please note that its just the location of addresses where we have to input the value. Input value will be same for all similar address. For example 0465 is repeated 6 times but value for all 0465 address will be same. Now for understading what these address refers to you can go through the following topic of XDA : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33230579 Don’t worry about the long list in above tutorial; what we need to understand is basically 4-5 items only. Most of the addresses in above 37 items have same value. I will group the address together which are having same value : ADDRESS VALUE 0465, 2825, 2953, 910, 906 net 579,1194 meid@hrpd.rcom.co.in (Replace meid with your Phones MEID) 466 HIGHLYSECRETWORDnet 580,1192 MIN REST ALL Leave it as it was in old dump file Now if you have any latest NV dump file then basically you have to edit only 579,1194,580 & 1192 as value of all other addresses will remain same in new dump file also. Please care that older NV dump file may have different values because previously we were using our MDN as Username and Password i.e. 0465, 2825, 2953, 910, 906 has to be changed to “net” in older Dump file. Similarly you will find HIGHLYSECRETWORD(your MDN) in address 0466. All these addresses are entered in HEX Format in Dump so to understand dump file and to edit it you need a ASCii to HEX Calculator. I used following online tool for this : http://www.asciitohex.com/ Just copy the ASCii value in text box of above calculator and click Convert. Then check the Hexadecimal Box for corresponding Hex Value. Now enter this value in dump file one by one. Replace the small alphabet to Capital while entering in Dump file. Also dont edit the first Hex value in address as it defines the location. e.g: After editing the Dump file you can upload it to your phone using following topic: http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/33225-tutorial-flashing-your-cdma-handset-after-meidesn-registration/?p=255120 Please note that above editing is for 1x only as I am not able to understand address 580 & 1192. If you put your MIN in these address you will get 1x but for EVDO I believe something else has to be entered. I have tried this method on 3-4 phones and was able to get 1x. (Tried on HTC EVO3D & Samsung Fascinate.) My purpose for writing this tutorial is purely to avoid bothering our gurus/sellers again and again for NV dump. I may not be correct in my understanding and request all Gurus to correct and shade some more light on it. I thanks Hetal & Dr. Muffaddal for their help and many tutorials and offcourse Parin who send me every now and then NV dump for various phones.

Dear Members, I keep on getting calls and mails from the RIMwebians regarding any CDMA Prepaid Plan available to use on imported phones or official phones. Okies here you go now:- Plan - This is a plan in which you need to send a SMS, Rs. 5 shall be deducted from your core balance and you shall get 1.38 hours of usage daily so it comes to 41hours for 30 days on Rs. 150. The day you need the plan, you may subscribe it, the day you dont need it, skip it, it is NON AUTO RENEWAL PLAN. And i think you may do it multiple times too in a day if you want more hours in certain day; Suppose i know that i need 6 hours of internet today, I shall do the SMS steps 4-5 times. Here is the process now:- The SMS Codes are different for different circles. For Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Karnaraka, MP, CG, Orrisaa, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Kolkata, West Bengal, HP and Rajasthan SMS "ACT<space>NET50" to 53739 For Mumbai, Maharashtra and Goa SMS "ACT INT" to 53739 And NO such plan for Kerela, Tamil Nadu, Chennai and UP circles. Settings which needs to be used:- To utlise the benifit of this plan you need to use NetConnect settings, that is Username and Password of PPP dialer should be your MDN (Mobile Number) and if you used on RWorld platform you shall be charged as per RWorld tariff, not this plan. Note - It is a time based plan, so when you dont need internet you need to turn it off, otherwise if you kept turned it on by mistake, your all balance shall vanish by deducting @ 60p/minute. In case of any issue, Please post in the topic itself, and if you dont get any revert within 24 hours, Mail the issue - amitjain@rimweb.in Regards Amit Jain

For the Noob mobile phone user or even those who have seen the jargon making the rounds but couldn't really understand what they meant, here is a quick guide to the most commonly used abbreviations and terminology used in the mobile phone segment 3G – Third Generation mobile technology will allow users to get a better host of services and connectivity speeds from their service provider. That means download speeds on mobile devices will be faster as well as data and media streaming. 3GPP - 3rd Generation Partnership Project can be construed to be a combination of all GSM, GPRS/EDGE and W-CDMA specifications. A-GPS – Assisted Global Positioning System allows for a quicker mode of gathering required satellite information via the internet via servers. GPS enabled handsets can get information without the use of A-GPS however it would take a little longer. In order to use A-GPS you would of course require a working internet service on your mobile handset via your service provider. Android – Developed by Google and part of the Open Handset Alliance now, Android is not just an operating system but a software platform as well. It's based on the Linux Kernel, which is quite synonymous with free or open source software. Developers will also be able to write codes for developing new applications for the OS with Java. The first Android powered handset was HTC's G1. Android has become extremely popular today, with devices powered by the OS providing stiff competition to Apple's devices. In case you're not familiar with them, here's a list of the codenames used for Android OS versions. Donut - Version 1.6 Eclair - Version 2.0/2.1 FroYo - Shortened form of Frozen Yoghurt, Version 2.2 Gingerbread - Version 2.3 Ice Cream Sandwich - Supposedly Version 2.4 Honeycomb - Version 3.0, optimized for tablets. ROMs A stock ROM is the official, signed software version from a phone manufacturer that will either come on the device when you buy it or will come in the form of an update. Custom ROMs, however, are either altered version of this software or modified versions of Google's stock Android software. So what does the "customized" part mean? Since Android is open source, developers are free to take stock ROMs, modify them, strip them of garbage, optimize them, add things, and pretty much do whatever their imagination and skills allow. Here are the steps for installing Custom ROMs, at a glance : Root Your Phone Install ROM Manager App Back Up Download the ROM you want to try Flash It Want to go back? Restore It "Rooting" your device means obtaining "superuser" rights and permissions to your Android's software. With these elevated user privileges, you gain the ability to load custom software (ROM's), install custom themes, increase performance, increase battery life, and the ability to install software that would otherwise cost extra money (ex: WiFi tethering). Rooting is essentially "hacking" your Android device. In the iPhone world, this would be the equivalent to "Jailbreaking" your phone. BREW - is Qualcomm's open source application development platform for wireless devices equipped for CDMA technology. Bluetooth – A wireless method of communion between devices for either data transfer or remote access and control. Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR – Bluetooth (BT) with Enhanced Data Rate offers faster rates of communication between Bluetooth enabled devices. A2DP - Advanced Audio Distribution Profile allows Bluetooth enabled media devices to communicate with receivers in Stereo Bluetooth headsets for better audio experiences. AVRCP - Audio/Video Remote Control Profile allows BT enabled devices to communicate and control and interface with other BT enabled devices not just for data transfer but in a more in-depth sense. For example one can control your PC's media player via Bluetooth from a mobile handset equipped with Bluetooth that also has an AVRCP profile. BTS - Base Transceiver Station; the network entity which communicates with the mobile station. CDMA - Code division multiple access is another form of mobile/cellular technology that allows users to use the entire spectrum of frequencies available that are capable of providing better sound and data communication. Some CDMA handsets have built in SIM cards, so specific handset models have been designed for this technology. The range of mobile handsets available with CDMA, are a little more limited as compared to GSM. CDMA is a military technology first used during World War II by English allies to foil German attempts at jamming transmissions. For more info you may want to check out Basics about CDMA / EVDO CMOS Sensor – Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor are most widely used in mobile handset cameras. The reason for this is because these sensors require fewer components (perfect for space constraints) and lesser power so it also reduces the cost. Core - A core, in its basic terminology, is a distinct CPU. Any singular core is capable of executing all of the necessary computations and instructions to ensure a smartphone can function at all. Learn more about Single Core / Multi - Core chips and find out whether you need them here. Displays TFT LCD - Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display. TFT LCD type screens are also used in TV's and computer monitors. QVGA – Quarter Video Graphics Array is 240 x 320 pixels, this is pretty standard for most mobile handsets VGA - Video Graphics Array is 640 x 480 pixels for handsets with larger displays WVGA - Wide Video Graphics Array 800 x 480. OLED - Organic Light-Emitting Diode. Nokia's N85 uses this type of display. AMOLED - Active Matrix OLED. An enhanced version of OLED screens, AMOLED screens used very commonly now, in phones like Nokia's N8. Active-matrix OLED displays provide higher refresh rates than their passive-matrix OLED counterparts, and they consume significantly less power. Super AMOLED - Super AMOLED refers to touchscreens where the layer that detects touches is integrated onto the screen rather than being a layer on top of it. This leads to increased brightness and clarity. The Samsung Galaxy S bears this type of screen. Super AMOLED Plus - First introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S II series smartphones, is a further development where the PenTile RGBG pixel matrix is replaced with a common RGB subpixels arrangement, going from eight to twelve subpixels in a group, resulting in finer details. The screen technology is also brighter, thinner and 18% more energy efficient. Retina Display - First used in Apple's iPhone 4, the Retina Display is an IPS LCD screen that packs has a very high pixel density (number of pixels per inch), making it very hard for the naked eye to distinguish between pixels and therefore leading to seemingly higher quality. EDGE - Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution can also be called EGPRS or Enhanced GPRS and means exactly what it states. It's one step above GPRS and provides for a little faster browsing and data transfer speeds. ESN - An ESN is a numeric identifier that uniquely identifies a CDMA phone. The ESN is what a CDMA network uses to identify a phone and determine which subscriber's account, if any, it is linked to. Because of this, when switching from one phone to another, subscribers will have to provide the ESN of the new phone to the network carrier before it can be activated. The ESN is being phased out in favour of the MEID. This is happening because phone manufacturers are literally running out of ESN identifiers. FDMA - Frequency Division Multiple Access-a transmission technique where the assigned frequency band for a network is divided into sub-bands which are allocated to a subscriber for the duration of their calls. GSM - Global System for Mobile communications (originally from Groupe Spécial Mobile). To cut a long story very short is the technology that allows for mobile handsets to connect to service providers using any model phone or any service provider anywhere in the world. GSM handsets can be used with SIM cards. GPRS - General Packet Radio Service is universal as a mobile data service (packet) for 2G and 3G networks. It provides data rates from 56 up to 114 kbit/s of information when connected to the net via the mobile handset's browser. HDMI - High Definition Multimedia Interface : A standard for audio/video cables and connectors. HDMI supports and carries high-definition (HD) video and multi-channel audio over a single cable. It carries an all digital signal, ensuring high quality. Some phones have a Mini-HDMI (Type C) or Micro-HDMI (Type D) connector to allow the phone to be connected directly to a television, so that video content on the phone can be played back on a full-size television screen. This requires a HDMI cable with a Mini or Micro - HDMI connector on one end and a full size (Type A) HDMI connector on the other end. Hot Swap Slot – A memory card slot that's accessible without having to remove the battery or the rear panel. Some handsets do have a memory card slot just under the rear panel that but you won't need to touch the battery. This could also be termed as a Hot Swap Slot. HSCSD - High-Speed Circuit-Switched Data implies four times faster data transmission for mobile for users using GSM with rates up to 38.4 kbit/s. It's basically high speed implementation of standard GSM transfers. HSDPA - High-Speed Downlink Packet Access is often associated with 3G. It allows networks to provide higher data transfer speeds and capacity. Current HSDPA deployments support down-link speeds of 1.8, 3.6, 7.2 and 14.4 Mbit/s. iDEN - is a mobile telecommunications technology, developed by Motorola, which provides its users the benefits of a trunked radio and a cellular telephone. iDEN places more users in a given spectral space, compared to analog cellular and two-way radio systems, by using speech compression and time division multiple access (TDMA). IR – Infra Red is slowly being phased out these days with BT taking a bigger and more active role in a mobile handset's wireless mode of data transfer and communication. IR means having to keep two handsets aligned with their IR receivers facing each other or 'in line of sight' whereas Bluetooth doesn't not have such limitations and is faster as well. Jailbreak – Jailbreaking means hacking into the core system of the iPhone so as to allow users to gain access to areas that were otherwise closed off (Unix File system). Keypads QWERTY – A full QWERTY keypad is a mobile keypad that would allow you to visualize and use this type of mobile input system as well as you would a desktop PC's keyboard. Each company tries to design their handsets keypad to mimic a PC's as best as they can. SureType - or Half QWERTY keypad are essential the same. SureType is more specific to BlackBerrys. Virtual Keypad - is an On-Screen keypad which is specific to handsets with touchscreens. These are also available in QWERTY, SureType or Half QWERTY as well as normal alphanumeric options. Swype - Swype is a virtual keyboard which allows users to enter words by sliding a finger or stylus from letter to letter, lifting only between words. It uses error-correcting algorithms and a language model to guess the intended word. It also includes a tapping predictive text system in the same interface. LTE - Long Term Evolution is the name given to a project associated with 3GPP to help improve and perhaps even standardize future mobile technology. A lot of devices that supported LTE connectivity were launched at CES 2011, but were marketed as 4G-enabled. Interested? Follow more about LTE here Mail for Exchange – A more up scaled version of Push Mail would be Mail for Exchange. With an application being installed on the handset itself, this service would also download your emails in a real-time environment and also sync and integrate with your Contacts list and Calendar. Much like having MS Outlook on your mobile. MEID - An ID number that is unique for each new CDMA mobile in the world. It identifies the phone to the network. MEID is a replacement for ESN. It began replacing ESN in 2005 since the pool of ESN numbers has been virtually exhausted due to the number of devices in use. It is equivalent to IMEI in GSM phones. Memory Cards Secure Digital Card (SD card) - SD cards are used in many small portable devices such as digital video camcorders, digital cameras, handheld computers, audio players and mobile phones. In use since 1999, SD Memory Cards are now available in capacities between 16 Megabytes and 1 Gigabyte, and still growing. An SD card typically measures 32 mm x 24 mm x 2.1 mm and weighs approximately 2grams. MiniSD Card - After the success of the SD Card (Secure Digital Card), the miniSD Memory Card was developed to meet the demands of the mobile phone market. The MiniSD Card provides the same benefits as the SD Card, but is smaller than the original SD Card. MiniSD Cards are typically found in many newer mobile phones with features such as built-in digital cameras, downloading and games, basically the mobile phones where the miniSD can meet the requirements for increased data storage. MiniSD cards are 21.5 mm x 20 mm x 1.4 mm and generally provide 16MB to 256MB of storage. MicroSD - Mainly used in mobile phones and other small handheld devices the MicroSD format is currently available in capacities up to 4GB, and it roughly 1/4th the size of the SD card at 15mm W 11mm W 0.7mm. The MicroSD card is also the smallest memory card available. Card adapters can be purchased that enable backwards compatibility — this would allow MicroSD cards to work in SD and MiniSD slots, and also for MicroSD cards to work in SD card slots. MultiMediaCard (MMC) - The MultiMediaCard (MMC) standard was introduced by SanDisk and Siemens in 1997. The card itself is 32 mm x 24 mm x 1.4mm and is often used in place of the SD card. Transfer speeds of a MMC is around 2.5MB/s and they can often be used in SD Card readers. Sony Memory Sticks - Sony Memory Sticks are light, compact and designed for a wide variety of devices including digital cameras, recorders, and more. With the use of an adapter most Sony Memory Sticks can be used with almost all Memory Stick PRO compatible products. Memory Stick Micro (M2): 15 mm x 12.5 mm x 1.2 mm Memory Stick PRO: 50 mm x 21.5 mm x 2.8 mm. The Memory Stick PRO format has an an 8-bit parallel interface with theoretical transfer rates up to 480Mb/s. It is commonly used in high megapixel digital cameras and digital camcorders. Memory Stick PRO DUO: 31 mm x 20 mm x 1.6 mm. The Memory Stick PRO Duo media is about one-third the volume and half the weight of standard-size media, but offers all the advanced functions of Memory Stick PRO media. Multi-Touch – This term is applied to specific usability on touchscreen mobiles that allow for specific actions. For example – the pinch to zoom feature in the Apple iPhone. It's a more sophisticated touchscreen feature that has hardware and software working simultaneously to recognize more than just one point of contact with the screen and responding to the same. Most touchscreen handsets' UI will not permit the use to multiple contacts with the screen to activate features and function. Nav-Pad or D-Pad – This refers to the five way navigation pad that's usually located under the display and can be used to maneuver through menus and settings. The center key is for selecting options. Nokia also uses what they call a Navi-Wheel that's similar to the iPod's Click Wheel. It's soft touch scrolling in a circular motion for moving around a menu system. NFC - Near Field Communication allows for the wireless communication to take place between mobile devices with a very fixed radius of about four inches. This system is not unlike BT or IR but it does have the limitation of distance. Read more into NFC here! Podcasts – Podcasts are either video or audio snippets on various topics uploaded to the net via individuals, corporations, radio stations etc. that can be downloaded for playback on a mobile handset via an active internet connection. They're usually in the form of web feeds. PRL - is a database residing in a wireless (primarily CDMA) device, such as a cellphone, that contains information used during the system selection and acquisition process. In the case of RUIM-based CDMA devices, the PRL resides on the RUIM. The PRL indicates which bands, sub bands and service provider identifiers will be scanned and in what priority order. Without a PRL, the device may not be able to roam, i.e. obtain service outside of the home area. Proprietary Ports – As the name implies, it's the connectivity port for a handsfree, charger or USB that is design-specific to a single company's brand of handsets. It's also one of the more irritating aspects in the mobile phone industry. With a standard port, users can simply use wires from other products and vice-versa instead of hunting for a very specific wire that in most cases is only available with the handset manufacturer who would probably charge a premium rate. If you are confused about cables and wires, this topic may prove helpful - Guide to PC's cable and Wiring Push Mail – This service allows a handset with an active internet connection and support for the same to always download new messages from a designated server linked to your personal email address. What this means is, a real-time download of all incoming emails to your mailbox which you can access from your mobile as well as your PC. Pwnage – To be Pwned is the same as street slang for 'Owned' i.e. to be taken for a ride (in some cases) or to be to be controlled against your will. In the world of the iPhone to have your iPhone Pwned, would mean to jailbreak it and gain access to all areas. A Pwnage tool is required to do just this. RDS – Radio Data System is a very frequent term attached to the FM radio capabilities in a mobile handset. It's a method of transmitting small but useful snippets of digital information via the radio's frequencies that would include Track name, name of the artist etc. SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) - A cell phone's SAR, or its Specific Absorption Rate, is a measure of the amount of radio frequency (RF) energy absorbed by the body when using the handset. All cell phones emit RF energy and the SAR varies by handset model Read more here. Series 40 and Series 60 – S40 or S60 are mobile User Interfaces (UI) that work with the Symbian Operating System. S40 UIs are usually found in some of the lower end Nokia handsets and S60 can be found in some of the more advanced. Nokia has launched a touchscreen version of their Series 40 UI and of course, you'll all be familiar by now with the 5800 XpressMusic that uses a S60 touch based UI. Nokia's N8 had a new version of their Symbian UI, named Symbian ^3. Tap-Screen/SurePress - The latest in touchscreen technology is RIM's offering in their BlackBerry Storm 9500. While the UI works quite like any other touchscreen interface with response to touch by sliding your fingers across the screen; in order to actually activate major functions or selections, the screen itself can be pressed, not unlike a normal button on a keypad. This technology is what we call Tap-Screen and what RIM calls SurePress. UIQ - User Interface Quartz, is essentially a platform based on the Symbian Operating System (OS). A variant of sorts. Later versions are used in handsets that have touchscreen interfaces. The UIQ platform also allows for plenty of development and also supports Java. UMTS - Universal Mobile Telecommunications System is one of the 3G mobile cellular technologies. Also understood as 3GSM in many cases, it essentially implies a sort of hybrid combination of 3G with its speed and GSM with a more globalised standard. Unlock – Unlocking carrier locked phone implies you would be able to use it as an open GSM handset so that it would no longer be tied to a single carrier. You'd be free to use any service provider's SIM card and services attached to the same without disrupting the use of the handset in any way. USB – Universal Serial Bus is simply a wired standard used for interfacing between a mobile handset and a PC for various purposes be it media and data transfer, backing up of information or even recharging the battery. Mobile phones usually have this in mini-USB and micro-USB variants. VOIP - Voice over Internet Protocol, in the simplest sense, implies the ability to make voice calls over the internet. In a mobile phone it would mean the ability to make a call using Wi-Fi, EDGE or any other internet service the handset permits. WAP - Wireless Application Protocol is simply the system used by a mobile handset to connect to the internet but it's a little more 'strictly' basic when compared to GPRS or EDGE. W-CDMA - Wideband Code Division Multiple Access is another type of 3G network. Wi-Fi - is a mode of wireless connectivity but with a stricter sense. It allows for mobile handsets to connect to Wi-Fi routers in a certain area for quick and high speed internet connectivity. WiMAX - Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access is a wireless digital communications system intended for much larger areas as compared to Wi-Fi. It can provide broadband wireless up to 50 km for fixed stations, and 5 - 15 km for mobile stations. Wi-Fi on a much larger scale like EDGE/GPRS with broadband speeds. Commonly Used Abbreviations with CDMA MIN - Mobile Identification Number ESN - Electronic Serial Number PRL - Preferred Roaming List SID - System Identification Number SCM - Station Class Mark CAI - Common Air Interface A Key - Authentication Key NAM - Numeric Assignment Module SPC - Service Programming Code Sourced part of the info from tech2, webopedia. For those who are deciding between HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4; here's my comparison report after a couple of months usage of both handsets. I have the Sprint CDMA version for both, of-course on Reliance CDMA now The best thing about the HTC One is its look and feel. With all Samsung Galaxy handsets looking similar, S4 will look like it belongs on a far more downmarket phone. HTC One on the other hand stands out from the rest of the crowd and gets more attention as it doesn't have the common look like a Galaxy or even an iPhone. When I was at the Burj Khalifa (Dubai) in early May, a foreigner there saw the HTC One in my hands and screamed "hey look... its the new HTC handset!" - I don't think he would have noticed if I was using a Galaxy S4. The replaceable battery option does get some points for Galaxy S4 though. Since I had used a Galaxy S3 before, the S4's rectangular boxy shape did not feel that comfortable as the S3's under body cover is more curvy and hence more comfortable. Anyway the S4 is more comfortable to hold than the HTC One for me as it feels to have more grip. The Ones power button is on the top left edge, and doesnt really extend from the phones surface at all. So if you are upgrading from a handset like S3, it will take some time to get used to it and especially the navigation buttons. Even though the screen size difference is only 0.3", I do feel it makes a good difference as the HTC One screen looks a bit more cramped when you look at it many days after using the S4. So a big advantage there for the S4 over HTC One. Feature-wise Samsung Galaxy S4 has load of cool features but in the 2 months of usage I had, the only time I used those "cool" features were when I was showing off the handset to someone or when they asked me about those features. Yes, they do work fine and not just gimmicks, its just not really going to be used all the time. Those "cool" features do take up battery life as well. Camera had mixed results for me. Some pics looked better on HTC One while some looked better on S4. The HTC Ones colors are more accurate in my opinion and more crisper. Overall, I would say the HTC One is better for low-lit conditions. Battery life feels more or less the same with both handsets. BlinkFeed on the HTC One was kind of weird for me in the beginning but eventually I started liking it. Make sure you filter the sources that you require to make it better. I still like TouchWiz navigation than HTC Sense, maybe that has something to do with the fact that I was used to it before with the S3. I have seen many reporting over-heating problem with the GSM Galaxy S4 but I haven't noticed any over-heating issue with the Galaxy S4 CDMA (mine is Sprint). The most disappointing aspect of both HTC One CDMA and Galaxy is that SVDO (Simultaneous Voice and EV-DO) has been removed which was present in Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC EVO 4G LTE. The reason behind it is that they added simultaneous voice support for LTE which is more popular now in US than EVDO. So the 3G (EVDO) data session will get cut off when you make or receive a call. EVDO works great on both handsets. I have run these tests on both handsets together at the same time... Galaxy S4: HTC One: I have heard some people say that EVDO is faster on HTC handsets but in my opinion it just varies. I have done EVDO speed tests on both handsets together at the same time during different time of the day/night and have seen varying results. However I do notice that HTC One had more reception signal strength as per the dBm ratings checked together at the same time: (the dBM value is in -ve, so the lesser (to 0) the better)

Think Your Smartphone is Sluggish, Your Memory Card is The Culprit Source Source Source This was a revelation waiting to happen. After spending thousands behind that latest dual core android beasts, do you still think, it lags in performance. Your Memory Card is to be blamed for that... Reason perhaps Apple Still does not allow Memory Cards in iPhones after all this years!!! As per a recent study, "Revisiting Storage For Smartphones" at the Georgia Institute of Techbology on File and Storage Technologies.. Download Full Study Paper >> http://static.usenix..._papers/Kim.pdf With manufacturers focusing on the speed and number of cores a smartphone’s processor features, megapixel numbers, and network technologies like LTE, the performance of an Android handset should largely be based on its hardware, right? Wrong, according to a new study undertaken by researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The type and brand of microSD storage installed in the device could just as well be the culprit. Their study that found that flash storage often accounted for a 100 to 300 percent drop in performance. In one instance the numbers dipped by an astonishing 2,000 percent. The researchers tested top selling 16GB embedded flash memory cards in several Android smartphones and found performance over WiFi varied between 100% to 300% across applications. In one flash memory test, performance dropped more than 20X. Ironically, benchmarking tests showed that some lower grade microSD cards performed better than some higher grade cards. As for naming names, Kim writes that Kingston's microSD card performs so badly that its results need to be removed from test data to get realistic averages. Transcend performs the best for random writes by as much as a factor of 100 compared to the competition. The bottom line is that the brand of microSD card you use in your device does make a difference in how fast it runs. Kim checked the launch time for eight popular apps including Angry Birds, Twitter and YouTube and found that Kingston's microSD cards offered up the slowest times for most of the apps. And for those who complain about how sluggish their Android model is, a change in the microSD card brand you use could make the difference. "A good chunk of time for users is spent waiting for websites to load ... [and for] applications to load," said Hyojun Kim, a Ph.D. student in the College of Computing at Georgia Tech. And, while waiting for apps to load is annoying, a more nefarious impact of poor flash performance is that it depletes a smartphone's battery. Kim said wireless network performance has kept pace with most of today's mobile applications, as have the single and dual core CPUs being used in today's sophisticated smartphones. What hasn't kept pace is the bandwidth of NAND flash, he said. "Why would anyone want to see a 20-second wait time on their phone, particularly if the network is not the problem," he said. The research identified the problem with poor flash device performance to be rooted in random I/O from application databases such as heavy random writes. In flash memory, random write performance is orders of magnitude worse than sequential writes, Kim said. The smartphone tests involved the use of applications such as WebBench Browser, Facebook, Android Email. Google Maps, App Install, Pulse News Reader, and RLBench SQLite. The flash cards came from Transcend, RiData, SanDisk, Kingston, Wintec, A-Data, Patriot Memory and PNY. "Apart from the benefits of selecting a good flash card, there are some fundamental ways we're using storage in a bad way," he said, referring to the way many applications are created to write data randomly, which causes flash performance to fall of a cliff.

Revised Buy-Sell Guideline Suggestion There are requests for changes in buy-sell guidelines due to some recent not so good experience from some newbie sellers. I thought of opening a fresh topic where we all can put our view forward and then Admin/Mods can take a final call. Background: As we all can see, recently there is increase in number of sellers who come on this forum ONLY for selling/making a quick buck/treating it as more of a BUSINESS. Getting a properly configured imported handset at a great price has been one of the unique attribute attached with this forum. This is enhanced by the fact that there is a reputed seller system where certain things are pre assured. Even for sellers who have not been in the reputed seller category, most of them are regular on the forum, contribute/help in various technical/other discussion. All this has resulted in most of the buyers attaching a much higher TRUST level to ANY sell topic here on this forum then others. Presumption from most buyers is always that every sell topic is good, buyer will get the items quickly, as described and with proper communication. Objective: The first objective of the forum is sharing of knowledge, help in technical matters. Buying/Selling though very important but is not THE primary thing for which the forum stands. It will be good if there are more reputed sellers but NEWBIES/Non Serious players who are here to make a fast buck/extra/side income can't be encouraged/allowed. Ofcourse if they are serious & continue with the forum, they will surely migrate to the next level in the long run. The system has to be designed as such. Regular Members who are selling occassionally OR single handsets (Upon changing/upgrading the handset) should face no difficulty/obstruction in posting their sell topics. (Ofcourse should comply with all rules) Proposed Changes in Buy-Sell Guidelines: Minimum number of posts for opening a sell topic for a single item should be 25 & Member since not less than 2 Month. (Applicable for All Members). If someone wants to open a sell topic with multiple items at a time, then the Minimum number of posts should be 100 & Member since not less than 6 Month. Someone wanting to sell multiple items but not having 100 posts but having 25 posts can post sell topics with a SINGLE item only, finish the transaction, receive the feedback & then open another topic for another item. No multiple ITEM sell post in the same topic to be allowed. All instances of sellers posting that he is having x phone/phones in stock for sell without actually giving complete details as per Buy-Sell guidelines should be strictly prohibited. There have been multiple instances of such practice recently with even the current problem sell topic of the fella with less then 10 posts having such post. See HERE in the third post he is mentioning handsets for sell without mentioning any details. This was not NOTICED/ACTED/ UPON. Not trying to blame anyone. Admin/Mods here do a wonderful job always. But we have only 2 Active as of today. Arun & Kamalbhai. Pretty busy too. Also this is complete free SEVA. It's entirely understadable that every topic may not receive every attention all the time. But then we should think of APPOINTING additional MODERATOR/s who can contribute. For used phone sell topic, minimum of 6 photographs compulsory displaying front/back and all 4 sides. As soon as the sell is closed, the posting member asks for closing the topic and it's closed immediately. No sell topic should be closed untill the buyer has posted the feedback. A separate TOPIC named Buyer's Checklist for Online Imported CDMA Handset Buying on RIMWeb should be created and a link to that topic should be made mandatory to be placed in all sell topics in RED Color (Except may be of Reputed Sellers). Possible Content of that topic given below Buyer's Checklist for Online Imported CDMA Handset Buying On RIMWeb Have you taken complete details of the seller like Full Address/Contact/Email/Numbers? Have you confirmed with the seller all details regarding MEID Registration/EVDO Data/Configuration/Activation? Have you confirmed with the seller regarding what services he will offer regarding above during initial sell & at the time of resale? Have you confirmed whether above services are free or chargeable? If chargeable, What will be the charges? Have you kept details of all communication with seller whether through pm/email handy? This will help in the event of a dispute. Have you satisfied yourself with the seller credentials/reputation/regular availability on the forum? Have you verified how long the seller is on the forum & checked the past feedbacks if any? Request all members to please share your inputs/suggestions regarding any of the above.

New members, (why even me in the beginning!) go nuts over technical jargon that they may not fully follow. I am posting this topic with a view to help them comprehend better and understand CDMA which I feel is not given due appreciation. Post the additional essential details here but lets spare the argument on GSM v/s CDMA Experienced members kindly view this as a venue to refresh and share updated info. CDMA operators in India CDMA (code division multiple access) is a digital mobile telephone standard which takes a different approach to the other, competing standards: GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access). Where GSM and TDMA divide the available bandwidth into 'channels' using a combination of frequency bands and time-slices, CDMA spreads the signal over a wide bandwidth, identifying each channel using unique digital codes. This means it can provide greater bandwidth efficiency, and hence a greater potential number of channels. Traditional uses of spread spectrum are in military operations. Because of the wide bandwidth of a spread spectrum signal, it is very difficult to jam, difficult to interfere with, and difficult to identify. This is in contrast to technologies using a narrower bandwidth of frequencies. Since a wideband spread spectrum signal is very hard to detect, it appears as nothing more than a slight rise in the "noise floor" or interference level. With other technologies, the power of the signal is concentrated in a narrower band, which makes it easier to detect. The narrow band is also more prone to interference than the spread-spectrum of CDMA. Increased privacy is inherent in CDMA technology. CDMA phone calls will be secure from the casual eavesdropper since, unlike an analog conversation, a simple radio receiver will not be able to pick individual digital conversations out of the overall RF radiation in a frequency band. TDMA (time division multiple access) and GSM systems have to add an extra stage of encryption to the signal to ensure privacy, whereas encryption is inherent to the CDMA system. The 1× Evolution-Data Optimised, which is abbreviated as EV-DO or 1× EV-DO, is a wireless radio broadband data standard. It has been adopted by a number of CDMA mobile telecommunications service providers across the world, particularly in the USA, South Korea, Japan, eastern European countries, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and spreading in our very own India The technology was first standardised by 3GPP2 in 2000 as part of the CDMA2000 standards. Qualcomm started to develop EV-DO in 1999 in a bid to produce a 2Mbit/s downlink for stationary communications, according to the requirements of IMT-2000. Originally the DO of the standards acronym stood for 'data only'. However, after being ratified by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the 'O' was changed to 'optimised' since 'only' had negative connotations for marketing the technology. EV-DO technology is a direct evolution of the 1× (1×RTT) air interface standard, with its channels carrying data traffic only. HOW DOES IT MATCH UP? In comparison to GPRS and EDGE standards, which have been widely adopted by GSM networks, the 1× EV-DO capability of enabled CDMA2000 networks is much faster. It provides mobile devices (handsets and wireless modem air cards) with air interface speeds of up to 2.4576Mb/s with EV-DO Rev. 0 and even faster speeds of 3.1Mb/s with Rev. A (data only rev A, affectionately known as DORA). Only devices fitted with 1xEV-DO capable chipsets can take advantage of the higher speeds. High speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) is a rival technology for wide band code division multiple access (W-CDMA) networks. HSDPA has the advantage over EV-DO of being able to maintain voice and data channels simultaneously over a single pair of frequencies. The system has some real advantages over WiFi, including the fact that it is always on with seamless roaming. Additionally, the signal can travel on the same cell sites as mobile phones, can download and run video clips in real time, there is no 300ft range from the cell tower or 'hot spot' and there are not so many security issues. DEPLOYMENT AND TECHNOLOGY When deployed alongside a voice network, 1× EV-DO requires a separate radio channel of 1.25MHz. The first revision of the standard was 1x EV-DO Rev. 0 and this is now being superseded by 1× EV-DO Rev. A In addition to the increase in the maximum downlink rate from 2.4576Mb/s in Rev. 0 to 3.1Mb/s, EVDO Rev.A also has a 12-times improvement in the maximum uplink data rate, from .15Mb/s to 1.8Mb/s. EV-DO REVISION B Even Rev. A is now due to be superseded, with the wireless communications market constantly striving for better and faster services. 1× EV-DO Rev B (DORB) specifications have now been developed. EVDO Rev. B is the evolution of Rev. A and in addition to all that is provided in Rev A, provides additional enhancements such as: higher rates per carrier (up to 4.9Mbps on the downlink); higher rates by bundling multiple channels together (this can enhance user experience and enables new services such as high definition video streaming); reducing latency for services such as gaming and video telephony, due to statistical mutiplexing across channels and hybrid frequency re-use which reduces the interference from the adjacent sectors and improves the rates that can be offered especially to the users at the edge of the cell. Where EVDO isn't available, 2G/1xRTT data capability will be present and your EVDO modem or phone will automatically connect to it. While considerably slower than EVDO, 1x is a huge boon - if you find yourself in a remote location with no EVDO connectivity, you will still be able to remain connected! Commonly Used Abbreviations MIN - Mobile Identification Number ESN - Electronic Serial Number PRL - Preferred Roaming List SID - System Identification Number SCM - Station Class Mark CAI - Common Air Interface A Key - Authentication Key NAM - Numeric Assignment Module SPC - Service Programming Code Glossary BREW - is Qualcomm's open source application development platform for wireless devices equipped for CDMA technology. RUIM or R-UIM - is a transferable identification card for mobile phones that belong to the CDMA network. RUIM cards store personal information, including the name and account number, the cell phone number, as well as the contacts' names and numbers. The RUIM cards also store text messages and any other important phone settings. OTA (Over-The-Air) - Any kind of event or transfer that takes place wirelessly using the cellular network as opposed to using a cable or other local connection. Frequently Asked Questions : 1.How can I locate the ESN or MEID number on my phone? All mobile devices are identified by an Electronic Serial Number (ESN) or a Mobile Equipment Indentifier (MEID). Some devices may display the ESN or MEID under the battery, below the battery or on the back of the phone. Behind the Battery: Below the Battery: Back of the Phone: Below are examples of labels that can be found on devices supporting ESN numbers. As ESN Is an 11-digit Electronic Serial Number. An ESN in hexadecimal, or HEX, is represented by 8 characters that are numbers and letters. Below are examples of labels that can be found on devices that support MEID numbers. MEID is always hexadecimal, represented by 14 characters that are numbers and letters. The first digit is always A - F. NOTE: Don't confuse the letter O with the number 0 (zero). It is always a zero. Only letters A-F are in an ESN/MEID. Sourced info from the net and all recognition to them. Found this good report on the technical side of CDMA which you may find interesting. Some of the details provided may be obsolete as it was written a while ago, please verify the same. cdma.pdf Edit - Frequently Asked Questions

I have almost completed the update to IP.Board 3.2 now which as you can see brings in a new look with more features. I mentioned "almost" since I haven't added back the usual addons like Google Search, Sidebar modifications, other customizations that was there previously, etc. which I will be completing in a couple of days. I will update this topic with a list of changes that is visible in the front end later, until then look around and check out the new stuff. Meanwhile please do let me know if you notice any issue (other than the missing addons/options as mentioned above) so that I can check or consult with the developers. Thank you!

Ok, so I got myself an MTS MTAG 3.1 (Huawei C8511)/(Huawei C8500S China Telecom) which was ruim unclocked but data incompatible for Reliance. This guide works for other various Android non-OMH CDMA handsets as well. This is for those whose APN list is not editable or custom APN cannot be saved.Tested. This is my sole invention and work and is not published anywhere else till now. Use is as per your discretion. 1. Make sure the handset is rooted and busybox and SU are installed and updated. 2. Open Root explorer and allow SU permission if opened for the first time. 3. Delete the cust folder in the root system of the device. This folder carries operator files, multimedia, operator apks and NV traces. 4. goto apns-conf.xml in /system/etc folder 5. Longpress on apns-conf.xml and select open in text editor 6. Once the text editor pops up, scroll down and you will see China Telecom, Sprint, Verizon, M-pcs, Virgin, APNs list. 7. Edit the first APN (default one) with Reliance APN settings we all know here. 8. Keep changing all the APNS till down with various settings. Once can edit the defualt value with usr=net/pass=net and the other ones with mdn/mdn combination. 9. Be careful do not put any extra space or delete any comma or double colon. 10. Click to save and exit, original bak will be backed up automatically. 11. Goto root using root explorer and in system folder locate build.prop 12. Longpress and open using editor 13. Goto ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric= ____ change it to 404 00 and ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=______ change it to Reliance 14. This can be a little troublesome so bak is imp. Click to save and exit. 15. Reboot. 16. In some devices, the APN list in Network settings gets automatically updated, in some you have to put it manually but now the custom APNs will be saved.

Enable OMH/EVDO/Wifi-Hotspot on Spring LG Tribute LS660 To get the SPC, we need to activate the device on Ting (a Sprint MVNO operator in the US). Use a referral link to Signup on Ting so that you get a $25 account credit. You may use mine if you'd like -- http://bit.ly/varkeyting Proceed for activation and it will ask you for the MEID and ICC ID, both are available on the box. Go through the steps, enter any US address (maybe use the address of a package forwarder or something). You will be asked to add a payment method, don't worry they won't charge you immediately. Create or use an existing Amazon account for this. Add a virtual credit card and link it to Ting. Once this wizard completes you will get an email with the SPC. You don't need to do anything on the handset. Now you can go to the device settings page in Ting and delete the device. Once we have the SPC, we can get the device activated directly on Sprint so that the Wifi Hotspot and other features get enabled. Go to http://bit.ly/sprintact and select "I'm a new customer and I want to activate my Sprint Prepaid phone." and go through the wizard. You need to enter your MEID and it will ask you to confirm the ICC ID. (You may have to wait sometime after you deleted the device from Ting for this to work) Go to the next page, enter the details (use any US address where Sprint has service). Choose the cheapest plan and when it asks for payment, select the pay later option at the bottom. Finish all the steps and you will get an email with your new Phone number. Now power on the device, connect it to WiFi and let it activate. This may take some time as it downloads couple of things. Once the activation, PRL update, firmware update etc is complete you would be able to use the device. Go to the settings menu and see if the Wifi Hotspot sub menu is enabled. Now we need to enable DIAG mode and then RUIM. @Vinod Nayak has made an excellent tutorial on this, so I am not posting it again. Please check the thread -- http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/36748-how-to-change-mode-from-nv-to-ruim-in-any-cdma-phone-using-dfs-free-version/ (You may also want to change the SPC 000000 to remember to easily.) You can insert the Reliance CDMA RUIM and it should register to network with call and SMS. I used a mini SIM which was cut and didn't have any problems. Few users reported that it did not work with a cut sim. So YMMV. When enabling data it threw an error for me and few others. To get data working, I am not sure of the exact change but few of the changes that I had made before it started working are below. I used QPST 2.7.411 for Step 2. (I will update the post with more info once I have the exact changes required). Changed the NV MCC MNC to 404 00 Disabled Sprint Mobile IP profiles and created a new one and activated with NAI as NET Changed NV Mode to SimpleIP Known Issues Handsfree activation popup on every restart. To make it go away immediately, enable Airplane mode, wait few seconds, it would display an error and disappear. Now disable Airplane mode and you can continue using the device (well, until the next restart )I will update the post with more details as we learn about them. I thank everyone who participated in the other thread, for their inputs which helped us in reaching this stage.

Verizon Galaxy Note II - GSM Unlock - Add APN Data - Remove Non-Verizon SIM Message Source Topic This is great info. We have one of the best phone now working with GSM Data. CDMA Voice with SIM Card should work without any change & CDMA Data through SIM can also be tried through this APN method. I think we may have another best seller on our hand after Incredible 2 which works on CDMA & GSM SIM Card with Data! How to add APN data: In order to get data working you have to add carrier specific data to the apns-conf.xml file. While you may have been able to do this is in the past on other devices under settings, VZW has blocked this. Method 1: Flashable mod (via custom recovery) that will enable the Add APN menu by removing Verizon's block.(For deodexed roms only) >> http://www.mediafire.com/?wqmad2ypgsyd75z This enables the apn editor under settings. Go to Settings, More Settings, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names, menu button. Method 2: Ensure your phone is rooted adb pull /system/etc/apns-conf.xml Add the carrier data to apns-conf.xml with your favorite text/xml editor and save adb push your modified apn-conf.xml file back to /sdcard/ Copy this file back to /system/etc/ and change permissions (I use root explorer) Power down and change your SIM card (AT&T, T-mobile, whatever) if you hadn't already done so Power back on and go to Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names (if done properly you should see the APN data you entered for your respective carrier). Select one of the APN listings and then you should have working data Profit Removing the Non-Verizon SIM message When Using a Non Verizon SIM Card: This will occur on roms that include Samsung's Setup Wizard (including stock) - all others can ignore Method 1: - Freeze "Setup wizard 1.0" in Titanium Backup Method 2: Download THIS APK for a deodexed ROM only and replace the original in /system/app/, then reboot. Make sure that /system is mounted as read/write before copy/pasting, and also that you're on a deodexed ROM. After copying it over, reboot and you shouldn't have the ongoing notification anymore.

Incoming calls on some Android phones using Reliance CDMA shows 0091xxxxxxxxxx, which the phone contacts may not recognise preventing outgoing calls in this format. I have devised a build.prop tweak which will revert back to 0xxxxxxxxxx number format with ease. Remember, always backup your build.prop before tweaking so we can switch it back when in trouble. 1. Using root explorer, from root file system locate the 'system' folder 2. go to build.prop and long press select open in text editor 3. opened, got to the line #ro.config.hwft_MatchNum=____ change from whatever to 7 ( RCDMA only accepts 7) #ro.config.hwft_MatchNumShort=____ Change from whatever to 7 more CDMA build.prop tweaks will be continued........

As most of you are aware by now MEID Registration and EVDO Activation on Reliance CDMA is a reality now thanks to efforts from members like HetalDP, Sadikk, etc. This will allow foreign CDMA handsets to be activated legally and use on Reliance Mobile CDMA network with EVDO. We never know if Reliance may force A-Key authentication which can affect foreign CDMA Handsets configured by changing ESN in the past; and changing handsets or selling to someone is a hassle too - so MEID registration is the way to go for complete peace of mind and you get the oppurtunity to have EVDO as well. Without doubt this is a major achievement for everyone for which we have been waiting for several years. In order to cover the costs incurred till now for everyone involved in making it a dream come true and for future software development we need to help them financially even though they are not forcing for it. So we have decided to raise funds (instead of seeking random donation) by uniformly charging the following amounts for members who would like to take advantage of MEID registration and/or EVDO activation: MEID Registration + EVDO Activation = 1000 MEID Registration only = 500 EVDO Activation only (if your MEID is already registered) = 750 This will benefit everyone as both the developers and the members will be able to support each other instead of having just a few members to bear the costs involved. I request everyone to help raise the funds for something we have been eagerly waiting for. Here are some FAQs which I presume will be asked by some members: Does it really cost that much for MEID Registration/EVDO Activation process? No, it will not cost that much. The major part of the charge will be spent for covering the costs incurred till now and for future software development. How do I get my MEID registered and activate EVDO for my MDN? Go here and read the instructions in the first post. How do I make the payment for the fundraiser? We will try to give you as many options as possible like Bank A/C Transfer, Credit Card, PayPal, etc. Please mention your preferred mode of payment when you send the email and the details will be given in the reply. I have already sent the email earlier? You will be informed about the payment details in the reply email. How do I configure my new foreign handset after MEID is registered and for EVDO activation? New topics with configuration instructions will be coming up in the Technical/Programming forum in the coming days along with other related FAQs. What are the softwares being developed? Currently the process for configuring the handset after MEID/EVDO registration/activation has to be done manually which can be bit difficult for the technically challenged. A new software that can configure A-Key, MDN, PPP and HDR UID & password with EVDO settings which is dump compatible for CDMA Workshop 2.7 is being planned. The software is also expected to load Reliance NAM settings like Channel/MNC/MCC/SID/NID and have device specific support as well. This software is only planned and not easy to develop since it involves CDMA programming and can take time as well. Since we do not know if it would be possible for sure; for configuring the handsets new topics with instructions to do that will come up in the Technical/Programming forum or by email one-on-one. Will I get refund if the software development is unsuccessful? No, we are not commited to provide the software based on the funds raised as that is not the main purpose of the fundraiser. Recovering the money spent till now is the first priority. If we get enough funds then we will go ahead to develop the software to write HDR and other parameters in the handset. Manual configuration support will be provided anyway as indicated earlier. I have sent the details by email few days ago but I haven't received any response yet? I will keep an eye on the whole process though I am not directly involved in it. Sadikk will be posting the updates in this topic. Where do I find the Bank payment details? See the attachment in this post

Good news is that SPR L720 works on OMH very well with data. I received a few phones last week which were shipped on 4.3 OTA. Rooted, flashed phil's recovery and updated to NAE 4.4 modem.tar, flashed rooted stock TW NAE 4.4 flashable ROM.zip from recovery and it reads any RUIM. Have also tested other international CDMA SIM cards on this baked tutorial. Chinese tutorial:- http://www.cdmamod.com/thread-1840-1-1.html the files:- http://pan.baidu.com/s/1hqsUCJU Note 1:- that GSM unlocking requires MDC modem, s4 unlocker and such, and that hidden menu may not be operable on 4.3/4.4 so please make sure its done before this procedure. The chinese tutorial states that a stock MK2 odin file is used, and then the 4.4 zip and the NAE modem, but i have not updated to 4.3 bootloader. Note 2:- OMH/GSM/NV mode (3 networks as called in China) also works on MDC base and CM roms. *Please use your favourite CDMA software to make the phone RUIM only/RUIM if avail before proceeding to this topic. *GSM usage by this method is under development. The entire tutorial is experimental and aimed towards achieving stock like performance.

How To Root your Samsung Galaxy S3 - US Cellular [sCH-R530U] Hello everyone, Well this is one of my first tutorials for this forum on how to ROOT your Samsung Galaxy S3 - US Cellular [sCH-R530U]. I just recently got my Samsung Galaxy S3 from Parin da and found that if you update with the latest OTA your phone will lose Data. So I decided to Root my S3 now. It's quite easy with Odin. ThanX to Sougata da I would write this tutorial and maybe it might help others out there. Most Important Data Loss Issue: Don't go for OTA Update, otherwise you will loss your Data NO WARRANTY Use at your own risk, I'm not responsible for bricking your device Here is the step by step process I used to root it. Okay step 1. you are going to need some files... First thing you are going to need is the Samsung Drivers so you can connect your phone to your computer and your computer can recognize it. Links: Samsung Drivers for S3 step 2. Now you are going to need the Odin with MD5. Links: R530U ODIN with CF-Auto Root.md5 File MD5: B284379F181A6C6AC38A2C11EAF51F8F This is the CF-AUTOROOT file and this is what roots your phone. check the MD5 first before flashing First thing we are going to need to do is install the Samsung USB drivers, So do that. After the drivers are installed plug in your phone and make sure that it connects to your computer correctly, after it connects disconnect your phone from your computer. Next thing we are going to need to do is extract the ODIN zip file and install the Odin executable. Step 3. Make sure that [uSB Debugging] is enabled in your phone, if it is not go to Settings -> Developer Options and enable it. Step 4. Put your phone in DOWNLOAD Mode. You do that by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power button and hold it down till you see a warning screen. When you see the warning screen hit Volume Up to allow Download mode. Step 5. Now that your phone is in Download Mode you are going to connect your phone to your computer with ODIN RUNNING if everything connects correctly you will see ODIN highlight Yellow. Step 6. Press the PDA button, select the .tar.md5 file and Hit START. After the process the port will glow Green. As the reboot tab was default selected,This will reboot your phone. Your phone is rooted Find in the phone's application menu, Superuser icon is there. This is my actual Odin Video on YouTube for the reference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hlztkd5SrGQ&feature=em-upload_owner Congrats on rooting your phone! I hope this tutorial has helped you and I want to thank all of the system administrators/moderators of this forum that it is a great place for sharing our knowledge. I thank you all... Hello Friends... With this thread, I would like to start new discussion on the topic. Being in this field since last 7+ years, I have gained lot of experience in this field. I understand most of the people view these things with negative outlook but that is mostly because it is more mis-sold than sold. To start with, I would like to contribute in this tread, over a period of time, some of the basics of Investments & Insurance & with fellow members posts, we can make this an useful thread for our community. Before I begin, let me clarify some points.. 1. Even though I am in this business, I dont intend to present myself as doing any sales activity. I would be glad to answer all the queries & would strongly recommend to buy or avail of service from your own town with somebody you personally know.(Josh wud surely vouch for this) 2. I would be discussing of certain products with its benefits. My sole intention to highlight certain product would be, because that product is actually very good, but very less known, due to low revenue generation for agents. Pls dont treat that too as any sales or marketing activity. In fact, if other members know of any alternative product, better than the one i mentioned, that would be for the good of this thread. Let me start with Accidental Insurance. There are 2 products which I am going to cover & are MUST HAVE for everyone from a chaiwala or an hawker to any crorepati. Accidental Insurance products generally cover below events due to accidents only: 1. Death 2. Hospitalization expenses 3. Permanent or Temporary Disability 4. Total or Partial Disability 5. Daily Cash Benefit Now, we may say that Death is already covered in my existing life insurance or for that matter hospitalization is covered in my existing health insurance cover. Then, why is this extra product needed. In my view, buying accidental insurance is highly important due to below benefits. 1. Premiums are very less compared to full fledged. 2. Premiums are same across all age bands. 3. There are no medical tests required. 4. Pre-Existing diseases are not seen for here. By this, I mean, an person with diabetes cannot get most of health insurance products. But even he is prone to accidents. So, even he can opt for accidental insurance n his existing diabetes wound stand as hurdle. 5. Having accidental products in combination to existing mediclaim means in case of accidental hospitalization, you would use benefits under your accidental plan n keep your mediclaim claim-free so that you keep on earning no claim benefits. Also, many of u have floater policies. So, the sum insured from existing mediclaim is preserved for other illness / other members. 6. Term / Life insurance is costly n premium increases the later you start the plan. Also, in my view, in earlier years (25 to 45 yrs of age), probability of death due to accident is more than probability of death due to illness. So, it is always better to go to Term Insurance + Accidntal Death Insurance than to opt for more term insurance. Now, I will cover some products here. 1. Bajaj Allianz Sankat Mochan : Product link : http://www.bajajallianz.com/Corp/health-insurance/sankat-mochan.jsp This is a very good n low cost product in industry. I have been actively selling it n have good experience as regards to claim settlement. I am sure many of you must have not heard of this product since none of the sales person would sell you this due to very low ticket size n consequently lower commissions. But,in my view, this can be utilized in very good way. In all there are 16 plans & all the details are covered in the link along with premium chart. I would advice you all to check Final Premium Risk class 2 for all the 16 plans. Generally risk class 1 is for low risk jobs. But, then since difference being so less, better to opt for class 2. Some times, even we our self do some high risk work. So, accidents in such cases may be denied if we have policy of risk class1. You will have to add 12.36% as service tax to get net premium. Specialty of this plan is @ just 303/- rs (including all taxes) we get 2 benefits viz. 1. Accidental Death for 2 lacs & 2. Accidental Hospitalization for Rs. 1 lac. This can be very good plan for our office boys or staff who are always on move. In case of any accidents, we do help them financially. But, if we plan properly then it is beneficial for us as well as person. I have been convincing my clients to take this plan for their whole team of 10-20 people. Claim settlement of Bajaj is very good too. I would suggest you to check all the plans n see for yourself as to what benefits you get. Everything is self explanatory. In case of any doubt, I would be glad to clarify the queries. 2. Bajaj Allianz Premium Personal Guard : Product Link : https://www.dropbox.com/s/oymxip3m4f13o2n/Bajaj%20Allianz%20Premium%20Personal%20Guard.pdf This product is not available on website. But, you can avail it from any of Bajaj agents or by visiting their office personally.. Though all the details are covered in above PDF. Specialty of this plan is @ just Rs.1994/- PLAN A, we get 6 benefits viz a. Accidental Death : 10 lacs b. Permanent Total Disability : 20 lacs c. Permanent Partial Disability : as per table. For ex.compensation paid for loss of thumb is 20%. This means, if due to accident, a person loses thumb, company will pay 20% of SI i.e 10 lacs which comes to 2 lacs. Accordingly this % differs from part to part. d. Temporary Total disability : Many times, after hospitalization we have to take rest for certain days as advised by doctors. This may lead to loss of income. The same can be compensated in this section. This section will pay 5000 rs per week till the person stays home due to his temporary disability like fracture in leg or hand or etc, due to which he cannot go to work. e. Accidental Hospitalization : 2 lacs f. Hospital Cash Benefit : This section will pay 1000/- per day till the time person is admitted in hospital, due to accident. People can choose plan as per their requirements. Also, can add family members according to table. Do note, for higher plans, income proof is mandatory. Again, I feel, we must have this plan along with standalone mediclaim. Probability of hospitalization due to accidents has been increased a lot now a days. For the sake of this plan, snake bite or falling in bathroom is also an accident. I hope I have been helpful with this thread. I would try to keep this thread live n give back to community by posting my views. Other members are requested to comment their views, opinions, or ask any doubts.

LED backlighting in TVs has been a real boon for end users, while manufactures have been able to create stunningly slim televisions. It also keeps the environmentalists happy since there is no mercury used in LED backlit TVs there by giving you a greener product. We tested quite a few LED based LCD TVs in the past and the difference in power consumption is certainly visible while still maintaining a good brightness level. The problem with the term "LED backlit LCD" is that it's a bit too long, which does not look good in advertisements and posters. Manufacturers have conveniently eliminated LCD and simply highlight "LED", duping customers into thinking they are LED TVs, which they clearly aren't. Today we'll have a look at the different types of LED LCD TVs currently available that offer improved picture quality over the other or even traditional LCD TVs. All LED Backlit TVs are not created equal The first thing that you should know is that not all LED LCD TVs are created equal. Just because the TV may have a sticker that says "LED" on it does not mean you'll get the same performance as the flagship model. Stop and think for a moment, if companies used the same technologies in their high-end and low-end products, no one would look at the higher end models, right? There are predominantly two types of LED backlighting technologies; Edge-lit LEDs and Full array LEDs. The first batch of LED TVs that came out in 2009 were based on this technology and was first showcased by Samsung. Today you'll find everyone using this technology in their "cheaper" LED LCD TVs. Edge-lit typically means the LEDs are placed around the edge, which allow companies to make slimmer TVs. There are no major advantages in this type of LED LCD over conventional LCDs when it comes to picture quality. In fact there are many uniformity issues with edge-lit LEDs, like certain areas of the TV tend to be brighter than others, which we noticed when we reviewed the Sony ZX1. This is cheaper to produce than Full array LED LCDs, since they use a fewer number of LEDs. The other technology that can be found on most of high-end TVs of today is Full array LEDs. As the name suggests, there is a full array of LEDs (see pic) sitting behind the LCD panel. This obviously gives you a more even backlighting with little or no uniformity issues. Mid-range to high end models typically have this sort of backlighting, like the Samsung UNC6500 series. In terms of picture quality, there is no real perceptible difference when compared to an LCD. The only advantage here is lower power consumption and again a slimmer profile. The latest crop of LED LCD TVs feature Local Dimming LED technology, which changes the game altogether. What is Local Dimming LEDs? LG was the first to push out this technology in India and today almost all major brands have Local Dimming (LD) in their flagship models. LD on Full array LED TVs give you the better picture quality compared to the LD on Edge-lit TVs, which was introduced this year in the Samsung UNC8000 series and LG LE5500 series. The LEDs used here are similar to the Full array models except that the array is broken into different zones and the LEDs in each zone can be dimmed or brightened depending on the scene at hand. This gives you very good black levels that rival plasmas, since the LEDs in the dark areas can be completely turned off. There is a little catch here though. The side effect of this is a slight blooming effect noticed up close when a brighter image appears suddenly over a dark background. This happens because when displaying a dark background, the LEDs in that area are mostly off and when a bright object suddenly comes into that area, the LED's light up to full brightness and then dim down to the current selected picture mode. This happens very quickly and isn't very noticeable when watching a movie, but if you connect a PC to it with a static background, it's visible. Despite this, these TV's are capable of delivering the best picture quality among LCD TVs. Commercial true LED TVs don't exist yet How would one define a LED TV? It's when a single LED is responsible for illuminating a single pixel on the screen, which is when you could do away with the LCD panel altogether. Today's high-end LED LCD TVs pack in around 1500 LEDs and a typical full HD panel will have around 2 million pixels. So in order for a TV to be classified as a true LED TV, we would have to have 2 million LEDs powering individual pixels, which is simply not possible today, and probably won't be commercially viable for some time. So you see, no matter how companies try to spin and twist words and create fancy slogans, if a TV uses an LCD panel, it's still an LCD TV and not a LED TV. Sony and LG clearly mention this on their site as LED LCD TV, but Samsung seem to have conveniently dropped the "LCD" from all of their LED TVs, which would easily fool the misinformed. Aren't LED backlit TV's supposed to be cheap? Technically LEDs should be cheaper to produce compared to CCFL based LCDs, but our guess is that manufacturers seem to be cashing in on the hype and buzz generated by none other than them. Everybody wants a slimmer TV for easier installation, more bragging rights, etc. and we seemed to have conditioned ourselves into thinking the extra price is justified. Another reason for LED LCDs being expensive could very well be the manufacturing process not being that mature as yet compared to LCDs. It's probably cheaper to manufacture an LCD, since this technology has been around for a while now and manufacturing units are more wide spread as compared to LED LCDs, which just started hitting selves a year back. What the Future holds In the next three to five years we should be able to see a considerable drop in prices as we adopt newer technology for cheaper and better LED LCD TVs. QD Vision is a company that claims to have developed a breakthrough technology called Quantum dots based on nano technology that is capable of delivering up to 40% more power efficiency and a color gamut over 100% of the NTSC spectrum. This is achievable due to the use of nano sized semiconductor crystals capable of emitting pure red, green and blue light. You should see this technology hitting LED LCD models of 2011, which isn't far away. If you were on the fence on getting an LED LCD TV then we'd say get the one with Local Dimming LEDs if you can afford it, or else simply stick with a cheaper LCD TV, as the color reproduction will be better than the "cheaper" Edge-lit models. Better still, if you have a well functioning CRT at home, stick with that and take the plunge maybe next year when prices go down south. SOURCE: Techtree

@ Mods I deliberately started this thread in General Chat. If you think this is wrong place, please move this thread to appropriate section. Later please remove this lines. In recent past, there has been brief bouts of discussion on RIMWeb about pollution, carbon footprints and global warming. Today it just stuck in my mind that there are so many electronic things which we buy, use and change even when useful life is left. For example, today I bought wireless KB + Mouse just to replace perfectly working keyboard and minor problem in mouse. Means if not mouse, atleast keyboard can be used by some one. New pair cost about 1800 bucks. Only keyboard may be costing about 1000 bucks and mouse alone may be the same. So I thought, what if I send or give it to some one who is about to buy new key board or may be he needs to buy keyboard. In any case I am not going to use it and it will be scrapped after some time. Hence I decided to post a thread where I will be sending this pair of Logitec pair of mouse and KB free. I will only charge for actual courier charges. Trusted Rimwebian may pay me once they get the stuff. Other people may pay me in advance. Also this thread is to be used for free give away without any obligations on either side. Please do not post if one is really not interested to give away free. If I get proper response, I am going to offer following thing: 1. BSNL ADSL + Wifi router 2. may be I have few chargers and data cable for various phones. 3. Some working computer hardware parts like HDD, RAM, graphic / modem cards etc. Will prepare list and post. All are invited to post their old stuffs too.

GSM 3G/CDMA EVDO Phones Below Rs 10,000 GSM 3G is here and CDMA EVDO was already in place. Next thing you want is an affordable 3G/EVDO Phone. I feel not everyone is looking for buying those 20-25K phones, neither can most people afford it. So thought of compiling this list. For this roundup, my criteria was following, -Price Below Rs 10,000 -Real 3G Phone. GSM Phones advertising 3G but having 384kbps speed is excluded. -For CDMA, 1x speed phones are excluded. -Also imported CDMA phones excluded as Official EVDO on them still not possible. (I know some members using but still it's not available for public at large easily, Also won't fit into Rs 10,000) With this criteria, my search yielded following choices for 3G/EVDO Phones below Rs 10,000. All Prices are Online. Happy And Economical Buying....Enjoy.... Please post phones missed out fulfilling the above criteria and i will update. Thanks. Edit : - 11/3/14 Here Is tool kit for Boost 4.4.2 restore :- https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ryfp0in10o4wyzs/AAAo4-wwJwRptWsi9pXcLU4Ua _____________________________________________________________ 1- Download and install Motorola Drivers: Windows 2- Download and extract the stock firmware of your choosing from: Link-1 or Link-2 The firmwares with '_umtsds' in the file name are for the 'dual-sim' versions of the Moto G DONT FLASH WRONG FIRWARES !! select correct carrier and sim preference we will need 7zip like software to extract .tar.gz 3- if the firmware file you downloaded is a .xml.zip file then download Motorola Fastboot mfastboot-v2.zip and extract the .exe into the same folder as the stock firmware files (the same folder as the .bin and .img files). If your firmware is a .tar.gz file then skip this step. 4- Get ADB (if you don't already have this), I suggest downloading and installing Minimal ADB and Fastboot by shimp208 Here Now real process begins 1) Reboot the phone into bootloader mode. There are 2 ways to do this. The 'hardware' way. a) Unplug the USB cable and power off the phone. Press and hold 'Volume down' then power on the phone. c) Connect USB cable to your computer. The 'software' way. a) Enable developer mode on the Moto G (Settings-> 'About Phone'. Tap 7 times on 'Build Number') Enable USB debugging. (Settings -> 'Developer options' -> 'USB Debugging' -> check) c) Connect phone to computer via USB, you should see a new ADB device detected and drivers installed. d) Open "Minimal ADB and Fastboot". Type: adb reboot-bootloader You should see the Moto G bootloader screen with the following options: Normal Powerup Recovery Factory Switch Console [NULL: null] Barcodes BP Tools 2) Open a command prompt / terminal (Start -> cmd.exe in Win7) and browse to the folder with the extracted firmware. In my case: cd c:\falcon_boost_user_4.4.2_KXB20.9-1.10-1.18_18_release-keys-cid9 3a) If you downloaded and extracted a firmware in .tar.gz format In windows, run the 'flashall.bat' script Type: flashall.bat /eu The "/eu" switch forces userdata to be erased from the device, this is the same as a factory reset or wipe this is recommended when restoring stock firmware. In Linux/OSX run the flashall.sh script. Type: chmod +x flashall.sh ./flashall.sh Downgrading: The scripts will fail with an error on downgrading from 4.4.2 to 4.3. Open the script in a text editor (notepad) and delete (or comment) the following: Lines 89-90 in the flashall.bat file: CALL :fastboot_flash partition gpt.bin IF %errorlevel% NEQ 0 EXIT /b 1 Lines 120-121 in the flashall.sh file: run $fastboot -s "$serial_number" flash partition gpt.bin if [ $? -ne 0 ]; then echo "ERROR: fastboot failed."; exit -1; fi 3b) If you downloaded and extracted a firmware in .xml.zip format. Flash each of the partitions in sequence using mfastboot, you need to enter the following commands one-by-one checking that each one returns an [OKAY] mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img mfastboot flash logo logo.bin mfastboot flash boot boot.img mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1 mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2 mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3 mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin mfastboot erase modemst1 mfastboot erase modemst2 mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn mfastboot erase cache mfastboot erase userdata mfastboot reboot Downgrading: The 1st command "mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin" will fail on 4.4.2 to 4.3 downgrade. Skip this command if you are downgrading and continue with the other commands, which should work. 4) Wait, you should now be rebooted into a fully stock Moto G firmware. These steps can be done on unlocked or locked Boot-Loader ! Follow these instructions at your own risk. If something goes wrong don't blame me! most of this info taken from t-bon3 on xda [Moto G thread]

Samsung Site & Support : http://www.samsung.c.../SPH-L900ZWASPR User Guide : http://downloadcente...uide_LJ1_F5.pdf Engadget Review : http://www.engadget....note-ii-review/ Note II GSM India site : http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone/smartphone/GT-N7100TADINU The Ultimate NEXT BIG THING in hand Stock Photos : Initial Observations : 1. Though it is a big device, it is very easy to hold in hand and use as a phone. I was pleasantly surprised by this fact. 2. Build quality is Samsung's patented plastic which has exceptional durability and scratch resistance; Feels solid in hand. 3. 5.5" Super AMOLED Plus screen is brilliant but colours slightly under-saturated than my Epic Touch (S2). It is BGR technology having least pixelisation that I have seen in any phone. 4. The sound quality is just brilliant, the best I have seen yet on any phone. 5. The 8MP camera is again brilliant. Front Camera is 1.9 MP. 6. It is on 4.1.1 (Jellybean) and as a existing S2 owner, I had no issues transitioning to this device. If anything the level of customisations is now miles ahead. 7. Special software enhancements exists for One hand handling. 8. GPS locking is without any error and very very fast unlike S2 which has issues on stock rom. 9. 16GB in built memory + option to add upto 64GB micro sd card. 10. NO dedicated camera button. 11. Notification light is now present in Note 2 unlike Note 1. 12. Humongous 3100mah battery and battery life seems double than my S2 upto now. Should last 2 days for normal usage. 13. The highly glossy battery cover and all plastics are of the highest quality only attainable by Samsung. 14. Brilliant S-Pen, features of which I am still discovering. What I don't like: 1. I am getting "Activation not completed" message in notification bar and it tries to Activate on each restart. Minor irritant. 2. Under saturation of colours (in some photos). Videos just look unbelievable. 3. No flip case in box (cost cutting nowadays?). Have to buy separately. Original (with NFC) is 1600/-; Chinese (without NFC) is 500 bucks. 4. No kickstand. Even with these, it is now the MOST DESIRABLE SMARTPHONE in the world at the moment. It's sales numbers are proof of that because every second person I meet is carrying a Note 2, so a bit disappointed by lack of exclusivity. Now for some PHOTOS: The Box The Box opened in multi layers The Box's total contents. Notice the white charger, USB cable and headset. The Front and the Back Feel In hand Close up Shots of the Camera and sides The Back cover opened and the humungous 3100mAH Battery. The Back cover has NFC contacts and also supports cordless charging. The S-Pen Video's and the Screen is just brilliant Size compared with Epic Touch 4G (S2)
