Updated to EI22 today, the most painless update ever. No need to reinstall anything, the radio stayed fine and data did not need to be reprogrammed.
Here is what i followed:
Was on Stock EC05 rooted with sprint bloatware removed
Downloaded this rom put in on my sd card and and installed it via recovery http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1339579 ( i used update 3)
Got EI22 on the phone with all my apps and contacts preserved. Even the home widgets did not get affected. But the modem remained as EC05 so next step i flashed this zip via recovery. http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1339401
So now running a clean near stock GB with the latest modem.
I was rooted with Stock EC05.
Used the above method. Simply a breeze. In less than 5 minutes was on EI22 - with all desktop and other app settings in tact. No bugs thus far. Have used the latest version, 6 I guess, of Mostly Stock
The GPS fix is fab - especially in this ROM. I get a fix in a few seconds at max - which used to take minutes on end earlier. What a shame that Samsung takes so long to get the latest s/w for the powerful hardware they provide.

I have got an OTA update notification. I am rooted. Is it okay to do the update, or do I need go unroot or do some special procedure?

Data control feature is awesome. A must for limited data plan users. Android is a data hog.

I face a non detection problem, actually partial detection problem, on my Win 7 32 bit. The detection rate is much higher on my Win 7 64 bit. Though I am never confident that the PC will detect, lots of struggle to get USB working. Surely it is a Samsung problem, which they ought to fix.

Late to the party. Was this the only 1. Would be interested, if you have one more world phone that supports both CDMA and GSM.

People on EC05 stock having the default slide screen lock, notice that in the date for the locked screen, it is dropping the year after "May.".
Lol, May is not an abbrev, but the full month name. Someone messed up!

I am not rooted. Have read that TB is good only for the root version.

The battery drain is becoming a little worse and unbrearabble. Planning to do a factory reset. Just wanted to check 1 thing. I have done a backup with MyBackup Pro and Backup Master. I am not worried about the contacts and calendar.
However, will these apps help me restore those apps back that I wish to with all the settings with all their glory?

This is really disturbing....

Have any of you been facing a problem of freezing randomly, since moving to EC05?
I am facing this issue too often now, upto 1-2 times a day.
Several times I have been left stranded not even able to open the dialer app. Yesterday while playing Angry Birds Seasons (ABS), the screen suddenly froze and the phone was non-respondent. The only option after these epidsodes is to remove the battery and re-insert. Damn annoying.
I have also been noticing some lag while playing games, especially in ABS the intro music plays broken up. Had faced a similar problem in the past (on DK28) found the culprit then. It was the compass widget which was either a memory hog or processor hog. Removed it and ABS music became just fine.
Have removed a tonne of apps since, still to no avail.
Anyway to find out if any particular app is causing this or is it a gerenral problem with EC05?
I think I have a winner, have been trouble free for a while now - too early I guess - but this seems to be the trouble maker
Will observe if this was causing the issues. Have reverted to using the old Fancy Widget for now. Any suggestions for a better integrated clock, date and weather widget?
Okay so the non responsive dialer has completely gone after I removed this app.
One issue still remains, there is a crazy battery drain during 1 particular event:
1. When there is sync happenning AND
2. The internet connection is not available (i.e. Wifi is connected but internet is slow or non-responsive, say may be due to utorrent on the PC dominating the connection OR 3G is connected but data not responding)
For example I lost 20% battery in 40 minutes right now. The other symptoms when this occurs are: A) The phone heats up considerably B.) Apps like Task Killer are non responsive, in the sense they open up, but don't list any running apps to kill C) Some apps are completely non-responsive D) Like I said the sync symbol is stuck in status bar
The only remedy I have found is to remove the battery and replace.

My domestic help got it from some street side vendor in Santacruz West market in Mumbai.
I just bought for him the Samasung Smooth and asked him to get a cover for it. And he got himmself a neoprene for 20 bucks. I told him to find one for my Epic, assuming there is no chance (because of the size). And he got it for 20 bucks too.
Will ask him to get a few more covers, if available. Once he gets them, will keep you guys updated.

Bought a neoprene pouch from a street side vendor for the Epic @ 20 bucks.
It's a shade better than the HK one, since it fits much better. The only thing missing is the android robot.
