  1. Internet Service Provider Name / Type: Threesa Broadband, Local ISP, Fiber till nearby building then through LAN cable & switch to home.

Plan you are on: 10 Mbps Speed Till 50GB, 1 Mbps Unlimited Thereafter.

Cost: Rs 1,100 monthly all inclusive. Long term 6 month & 1 year packs are even cheaper.

Location you are based on: Thane, Maharashtra.

Comments: Speeds are good & constant with low pings. Best is upload speed almost same as download speed.

    Hi,

You were using YOU BB some time back. Any reason for hitching onto Threesa apart from double d/l limit and also cost? How was YOU BB services? Is their 12mbps/25GB plan good? Costs Rs 1212 pm in Chennai. Worth it? VFM in terms of speeds, consistency etc? Any other problems with YOU?

My 5 year old BSNL 4mbps/8GB plan is giving me a lot of speed and other problems since the last 6 months, so I am seriously thinking of ditching it. Threesa not avl in Chennai. Any other ISP for Chennai, that you are aware of and maybe, I am not?

    TIA

  2. 1. Write to RCOM and pray, pray pray!!! You can tell them to adjust the money to your account, but I doubt they will do it at all.

    2. Write to the CEO of the govt. company and ask him to apply for a refund. This will take a very long time.

Either way, your Rs 700 will take a very long time for recovery. It is as good as gone, sorry about it. RCOM does not refund money easily, I converted my 2 FWPs to prepaid in Jan 2011, I had Rs 1000 each deposit with RCOM. It is more than 20 months and despite several reminders, RCOM is not refunding the money. Earlier their world class??? system used to acknowledge receipt of emails, nowadays, they are brazenly not even acknowledging, leave alone replying to any email. It automatically goes to the recycle bin.

In the meantime, pay up for the original number at least (if you want that number), or you will have double trouble...

  3. My EvDo services are restored now, speeds are very good also. I am getting abt 1.71 Mbps d/l, 0.79 Mbps u/l and ping of 81ms. This is far better than the 0.2 to 0.4 Mbps d/l speeds I was getting over the last 5 to 6 months. Hope RCOM does not read this and mess it up again.

It is indeed very nice to see the Blue coloured signal bars and the 3G signs. The signal bars are also remaining at full strength now (all 6 bars)

Although GOD could not proceed with the reconfiguration of my Photon because when he was free, I was busy and vice versa, I thank him for his commitment to atleast address the problem and try to set it right. It is a year since I bought the mobile from him.

  4. Even my data is totally off for the last 3 days. All of a sudden, data fully stopped - not even 1x leave alone EvDo.

I complained at 198 and got a call from RCOM, Mumbai - they told me that all data settings are active on my account and there should be no problem. He told me to switch off and then after 2 minutes, switch on again. All should be fine. I did the same but to no avail. And like sumitnda, I too did not install any new apps, and all other services like calls, texts is working flawlessly. One thing I have noticed is that the signal bars are now constant at 6 bars and previously, they were fluctuating wildly anywhere from 0 to 4 and sometimes rarely at 6.

I called up GOD-RW and he advised me to do a fac reset, I did, but still no data. Today he will reconfigure my phone. lets see what happens next.

I think RCOM is upto something sinister nowadays. My data usage according to ZDBOX shows about 1.2 GB and my RCDMA bill shows 2.35GB. Till last month it was more or less equal give or take some 200 to 300 MBs, which is normal.

While complaining at 198, I was also informed that there is some problem All India with 1x services, the next day, the Mumbai man did not agree on this. Just for info.

  5. I have a doubt whether the PIN is applicable for in-app purchases also or only for purchases on GPS? I am a very safe persona nd I had enabled the PIN as soon as I saw the option some 6 to 8 months back.

One more doubt - if CC transactions online require a Security Code and for telephonic transactions we require a OTP, then for these mobile GPS and in-app transactions also, there should be some such secondary code mandated. Maybe we all should collectively complain to the RBI, so that such accidental purchases are not made and the country's precious foreign exchange is not wasted.

    My 2 cents...

  6. Even my life time tariff plan has been changed to 1.5 ps per sec local and national and my roaming charges has been increased exponentially to 1/1/1.5 rupees from 1ps per sec.

I complained and was told that trai has mandated rcom to increase rates. I asked why trai asked rcom only to increase rates, and I did not get any coherent reply.

I was told to use the new rate cutters if I was interested in reducing my call charges.

Now, I would like to know why trai has asked rcom to increase the rates? :o

  7. And I thought that I was only suffering poor evdo speeds. In my home or office area, I get only 0.12 to 0.2 mbps speeds. The moment I go across to a neighbouring area about 2 kms away, the speeds touch 1.95 mbps. I complained about this and got a call from Mumbai who told me to register a network complaint. I did that and today I got a call from Chennai office, asking me for my exact problem. I explained in detail and the nincompoop asked me finally which data card I was using. I decided to junk the complaint. I had told him my mobile model earlier but the joker wanted to eventually know my data card model. As if evdo cannot be accessed from any mobile. :o:wub:

  8. Have you tried using Mr. Number app? Maybe it will work, try it out. I had installed it once as some ICICI calls were irritating me no end, After some time, I uninstalled the app as there was no further use. Hope it helps.

When I was using the same, I tried to block some similar numbers, but the problem was that these numbers starting with LM etc were also sending me bank account and credit card details and I could not afford to lose out on these SMS', so eventually I uninstalled the app.

Maybe you can give it a try.

  9. I faced similar issues with BSNL LLs about a month back for almost 3 to 4 days. On complaining with CC, I was told RCOM had some issues with BSNL and hence there was no inter-connectivity. After 4 days, it became alright.

Again about a week back, the same issue came up and this time around, apart from BSNL LLs, even Airtel mobiles reported an error, "this route is busy" always. I tried dialing from my BSNL numbers to my Airtel mobiles and it went through fine. When I tried from my RCOM - both RCDMa and RGSM, to my BSNL LL and my Airtel number, I got the above 'route is busy' error. Again I complained to CC and again they told me the same story. However within a few hours, it was back to normal. The next day, I got calls from Mumbai and also surprisingly from Chennai RCOM office also. They just sympathised and said there were some technical issues which have been sorted out.

Whats going wrong with RCOM now? No money being paid up for inter-connection charges? Or are the others retaliating for RCOM's recent low priced voice plans? Either way, we are suffering.

  10. ^^^ @KumaarShah

It will not become faster but may allow apps which may not run because your available RAM is falling short then what the app requires.

Have you ever received any error message for any app which can't run because of unavailable/low memory?

Because this app will create & run through a swap file on SD Card, it will be actually slower then your flash RAM.

And much slower if the SD Card is also lower speed class.

Android has good inbuilt memory management capability where it knows when to kill the unused app residing in memory and make space for another one needing the RAM.

First you should test whether your phone/kernel is compatible with the app by installing & running this another app >> https://play.google....oehsoft.meminfo

Root will be necessary & this comprehensive guide for rooting most sony models should help >> http://talk.sonymobi...om/thread/41119

Thanks RM for your untiring efforts to dig out so much info and help me out.

Never has any app reported any low memory error, just its horribly slow.

Finally, any way out to downgrade back to GB from ICS? Is it advisable? EDIT: Sorry your link already has the answers, will do it leisurely. But Rooting an ICS device is so darn complicated than GB on my Photon. If there is any one click root method, I would love it. My ICS version is 4.0.4, Build number is 4.1.B.0.587.

@kanaga & kalpak, Nice to know your observations reg ICS, GB and JB. Thanks

My wife bought a WT19i Walkman Live mobile about 4 months back. The performance is very sluggish and I feel like throwing out the mobile due to the time it takes to load any app including the stock Dialer. I even installed Dialer One - it appeared fast initially, now this also has become sluggish. It is on ICS, stock, and is unrooted as yet. I searched the net a couple of months back for rooting but could not locate anything for ICS stock. Then I gave up.

Now my question is if I buy the above RAM Expander app, will my SE WT19i mobile become faster? Any ideas or links for rooting this model? Sorry for Noob queries.

    TIA.

    BREAKING NEWS!

WARREN BUFFET HIRES SONIA GANDHI’S SON-IN-LAW

    by shovonc

In news that has relieved lovers of money everywhere, legendary investment guru Warren Buffet has announced that the search for his successor is finally over. New Delhi-based entrepreneur Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Indian Supremo Sonia Gandhi, will soon be taking over as head of Berkshire Hathaway.

“Despite an extremely rigorous gym schedule, this extraordinary young man has become a billionaire in just four years,” said the Sage of Omaha. “Not only did he convince real estate giant DLF to give him an entire suburb of Delhi at throwaway prices, he also got them to lend him the money, interest free. My sources inform me that he is also acquiring two or three other Indian states, but he’s too modest to talk about these things.”

Members of Sonia Gandhi’s domestic staff have welcomed the move.

“I kiss his boots on a regular basis,” said Law Minister Salman Khurshid, “It’s amazing how smooth he keeps the leather.”

“He’s extremely dynamic,” said baggage-handler Manish Tewari. “When I carry his bags at the airport, I can barely keep up. And it’s not just because he doesn’t have to go through security.”

DLF has rubbished allegations of corruption, and maintains that all dealings have been completely transparent.

“We did everything very openly,” said a spokesperson for DLF. “There is no question of favouritism. We are committed to providing the same benefits to anyone who marries Priyanka Gandhi.”

Others have also earmarked Vadra for international glory.

"Let me just get through this election," said US President Barack Obama. "If I win, I'm going to use this man's help to revive the US economy.

  13. We are using DishTV since the last 2 years, no serious problems as yet.

Some viewing problems due to rain affect any Digital TV services like Tatasky, BIG TV, DishTV, Airtel TV, Videocon etc

Charges are Rs 350 pm for the Super Platinum pack. Am planning for HD pack with Recorder as well, charges will go up by Rs 150 to Rs 200 per month, will take a call shortly. Not too sure whether to continue with Dish or go for other providers. Am scanning Topics here on this.

It can also be due to the reduction of power from towers to reduce the radiation effects....

On a funny note, what more can we expect from Chinese towers and transmission equipments - maybe they have outlived their efficiency and need immediate replacement for which our RCOM has no money. Thats why they must have hiked call charges by 25%, hoping the rest of the GSM gangsters will follow.

For the last 2 to 3 days, I am unable to make calls to BSNL numbers - the CC told me there was indeed some issue and which will be sorted by 6PM on Friday. I tried from my many connections of RCDMA and RGSM even FWP... all have the same problem even today.

  15. What I did is, Record 5 sec silence (by closing mic) using voice recorder on phone (in a silent room)... Then add that file to the beginning of desired ringtone using some mp3 editing (FREE) software (forgot its name).. Thats all, Simple...

Similarly I click an image on camera by closing its lens and switching flash off.. I use that obviously pure black image as wallpaper in my earlier smartphones equipped with AMOLED screen to save power... I used this method initially, on first day I got my first Android phone EPIC as the phone was way too wonderful to keep it down and create black wp in Photoshop..

Necessity is the mother of all invention...

+1 (ooopsss now it is Like) for your ingenuity to deal with this situation.

  16. Will this affect postpaid users? Don't think so.

Haven't seen Reliance generally withdrawing/changing any active postpaid plan on a user's account even if the plan is withdrawn from new activation.

You cannot trust RCOM nowadays, they have all new faces who are so ignorant and nincompoopish that you will even forget your complaints and believe their stupidity. You will be forced to forget your complaint unless you are thicker skinned than even a rhinoceros. Believe me, the old RCOM is no longer there now, I have suffered adequately over the last 6 months for my EVDO speeds. I have registered so many complaints that even I have lost track of them now. EVDO works for 2 to 3 days at below 1 mbps speeds and then it crawls to 250 to 550 kbps for the rest of the time. As usual, the dumbos out there, do not even understand the issue, leave alone resolve it. Worse the team which calls up from NetConnect Mumbai is equally bad - they just acknowledge that there is some network problem and ask me to get my handset checked at the nearest Motorola Service Center. When I tell them it works well for 2 - 3 days, they still insist on the same. Morons.... Funnily if I move to another area (apart from my office or home area) EVDO works reasonable better. So I complained about the poor network in my area and I got the same response from them. I do not think there is any handset issue with my Photon 4G as I had bought it from HP.

And RCOM can always imitate the GSM gangsters now.

    Just my 2 cents....

Hmmm... Time to set the ringtone which starts ringing after 5 seconds only to both my numbers (Yes, I expect more missed calls from others)...

Sorry for the ignorance, what was that about? Seems hilarious....

  17. Time to quit RCOM now?

Looks more like the beginning (or is it already very closer to the end) of the END now.

A loss of 20 million subscribers in August'12 leading to a first ever drop in subscriber additions all India for the first time in the last 5 years, and yet this company has the gumption to hike rates.

Any one knows which are the four circles where they experimented and when will they extend the experiment all India? Link http://timesofindia....ow/16488275.cms
