  1. I will take sides with Dharmesh and agree with his recos...

I have mediclaim with ICICI, Reliance and MaxBupa. Of these my experiences with Reliance and ICICI is very very good so far. Maxbupa - I have taken just this March, so no comments, except the fact they do not have any TPAs, they deal directly.

ICICI was really fantastic with my claims settlement - absolutely no issue, that too in Cashless. Icici is a bit costly premium wise compared to all others.

Choose your insurer after studying all opinions and recos here and elsewhere also - I mean online (other websites) as well as offline (friends, relatives etc).

  2. Two young guys appear in court after being arrested for smoking dope.

The judge says, "You seem like nice young men, and I'd like to give you a second chance instead of jail time. I want you to go out this weekend and try to convince others of the evils of drug use. I'll see you back in court Monday."

On Monday, the judge asks the first guy, "How did you do over the weekend?"

"Well, your honor, I persuaded 17 people to give up drugs forever."

"Seventeen people? That's wonderful. How did you do it?"

"I used a diagram, your honor. I drew two circles like this: O o. Then I told them that the big circle is your brain before drugs and the small circle is your brain after drugs."

"That's admirable," says the judge. Then he turns to the second guy. "And how did you do?"

"Well, your honor, I persuaded 156 people to give up drugs forever."

"Wow!" says the judge. "156 people! How did you manage to do that?"

"Well, I used a similar diagram," the guy says. "I drew two circles like this: o O. Then I pointed to the little circle and said, 'This is your a***hole before prison..................

  3. Let me share my experiences with my dual mode Motorola Photon 4G mobile. My SMS client is Go SMS and in the GoSMS settings, I have set the split large messages under Send settings to unchecked. If I check it, then all SMS' will go in parts of 160 chars.

First I switched on my GSM SIM card and used it to send LMS.

Next I switched over to my RCDMA mode.

Now when I send LMS of any length (I sent one LMS of more than 1000 chars, copied from a Whatsapp sender on my mobile and also from a SMS collections App), it goes as one single LMS. I have tested it many times and sent it to my other GSM mobiles. I also sent it to a group of about 16 friends and confirmed with all of them that they received the LMS sent from my RCDMA was received by them in one single SMS and not in bits and pieces of 153 chars.

Sometimes the settings do get erased or needs to be reset again for this to work properly. And yes, there should be a GSM SIM in the mobile for this to work.

People having dual mode mobiles can check this out and post here. If anyone wants me to send them LMS from my RCDMA number, I am game for it.

Hope this works with other single mode Androids also....

  4. Guys,

I'm a Photon user and I was facing few problems related to Banners / Carrier Name on my photon like even after flashing NAM/PRL, it only shows "Sprint" as Network Name and not "Reliance".

Did so many R&D on this and finally I've made a file for the same which shows Reliance.

    How to:

    1. Your phone must be Rooted.(If not Google on How to)

    2. Download the attached zip file & extract it.

    3. Copy & Paste the eri.xml (attached) file on Internal Storage

    4. Open Root Explorer or any other file explorer you use.

    5. Copy the eri.xml (attached) file.. (Long press on file and select copy)

    6. Paste it in "/data" folder of Root of your file system.

    7. Now long press the eri.xml file and tap permission and select all check boxes. Give it full permission.

    8. Exit the Root Explorer

    9. Restart your phone

Voila.. Your phone will now show... "Reliance" as Carrier Name

    nJoy...

    Thanks for the tutorial!!!

Saw it as soon as you had posted it, but felt lazy to work on it. Today I once again saw your latest tutorial and then thought, let me take the plunge.

All Done, but the carrier name now says, "Roaming Indicator Off"

I have followed your instructions to the T, something else I did wrong?

My mobile is rooted, I used ES File explorer to extract, copy, paste eri.xml to \data and mark all the 9 permissions (6 of read and write were already marked, I had to tick the remaining 3 of execute).

    Any ideas?

All operations are normal - voice, data, sms, mails, browsing etc

P.S.: in your new tutorial, MIP Error for me shows 98 - missing_home_agent. I have not put into effect your guide so far as you have shown MIP Error 67.

And yes, are the gray lines also to be done by us? Or are you referring to the tutorial? If we do have to go the gray and the red lines, procedure?

Finally Congrats and All the Best for Th3Bill on JB Builds for Photon4G.

  5. In Chennai facing same problems since last 2+ months. Suddenly it goes to 1x and then after some time, improves to around 0.7 to 0.85 mbps. Then again it starts to crawl at 1x speeds.

Complained almost ten times in the last 3 months, the jokers nlw want me to get my MB855 checked with a service center.

Am seriously considering mnp to voda. Not too sure What to do? Anyone has any suggestions? RCOM seems all set to close down Cdma services? No new plans also for rcdma, all new plans only for rgsm.

Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2

  6. In Chennai and TN, only Rs. 899 plan is available as of now. And yes it is also available for existing customers. Only thing is they have to go to the WW, pay the sec dep of Rs 850 and get started. Roaiming charges in Rs 899 plan is 1ps per second for ic/og/std while roaming. SMS rates are 50 ps for local and National. The plan benefits are not available while roaming.

Knowing RCOM, it will not be long before they start tinkering with these plans and remove one benefit after the other.

  7. This latest update reverses root & kills the unlocked bootloader. Check here for more details

    http://forum.xda-dev...php?t=1622764

Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G

There is mention on xda that Photon Torpedo method will restore root access even in the new release. Not too sure though as someone has got success with Torpedo while some have reported failure, maybe also due to wrong implementation.

Anyway better to wait and watch rather than hurry and end in hell.

  8. @vvinayakpai,

Thats a pretty good offer for RGSM customers, though its sad that RCOM is now ignoring RCDMA all India. Hope they don't shut down RCDMA, even though I was very much predicting the same about 2 years back. And now RCOM has made Karnataka as its guinea pig for all new offers, earlier it was TN.

    @kanaga,

I do not face much problems with RGSM in Chennai as such, not too sure about rest of TN and also India. I feel 2G data on RGSM is better than on Voda/Airtel/Aircel. The worst of the lot is Airtel. Sometimes, I do experience poor call quality but thats inherent in GSM. My only problem with RCOM is the lackadaisical and nincompoopish attitude of their CC and their WW people.

They can always strengthen RGSM network when they wind up RCDMA, if at all they really do so. Remember Hutch (now Voda) also took about 5 years to grow from scratch in TN and Chennai. I remember the days when we had to go outdoors to receive calls on our Skycell (now Airtel) mobiles / RPG (now Aircel) mobiles.

  9. Can anyone help me with Citibank IN app? It is available from my GSM phone but not from my RCDMA mobile. No idea why.

And how to extract the apk using AirDroid? or any other app?

    TIA

you must be using it on an imported handset.

Yes I am using it on my Photon 4G and Citibank IN is not available on GPS on CDMA Mobiles but available for all GSM mobiles. I had a lengthy fight with Citibank for ignoring CDMA users for this app in INIDA, whereas in US it is available. But they did not understand the problem and could not help me out at all. Now my work is done, thanks to Chirag and Amit Routray. All's well now.

  10. @ Chirag,

Thanks a ton, bro... Installed it and works absolutely flawlessly. I had a very long fight with Citibank people for ignoring CDMA in India when in US it is the best network and is available there. So you are also a Citibank customer, good to know that we share something in common.....

    @amitroutray,

Thanks, bro for the toutorial. Have now got it and also d/l'd Citibank IN apk from citibank webite as per Chirag's post and its working now.

Thanks buddies, I wasted almost 6 months trying to make Citibank work on my Photon. I should have posted here earlier and I would have been better off.
