I was patiently waiting for Motorola to release ics updates for the photon but now that they have royally screwed the photon users, I think it's time to unlock that bootloader and start experimenting with custom ROMs

^^^^^ if i'm not mistaken,the original battery that ships along with the phone is 1850mAh...does an extra 250 mAh make that much of a difference to the battery life?

Is it typo mistake.. Data transfer rate mention 480MB/s is for USB 2.0It's the speed for 3.0.that is the potential speedbbc if you have a sub 3.0 port.in sub 2.0 you'll get around 30mb/s

We opt for SMS packs so that we can use them on special occasions like festivals.but when the operators charge 50 paise for a single SMS when we really need it,it's just cheating. Good to see trai waking up finally but I'll believe it when this gets implemented

I bought a Samsung headset and its not working properly with the photonAre you on a CM10 based ROM ? Some of them have issues with the headphone jack.

no i'm on stock ROM...when i insert the samsung headphone...the dialer gets activated automatically...calls dont get picked up...weird problems

Thanks Sanju and Roshan...Somehow I am not inclined towards Motorola phone.. Would prefer Htc's mobile anyday (also might be coz I m Using Htc)
. In this case specs of photon is very tempting.. Dual core and 1gb ram....

Be aware that in photon
1. USSD codes do not work in prepaid. Meaning checking balances through short codes like *123# etc etc won't work
2. Bootloader is locked. So if you're someone who likes to experiment with different ROMs then this is not the phone for you. Yes, you can unlock the bootloader but still other phones come with unlocked bootloaders thereby minimising chances of bricking your phone while unlocking.

This is another instance of our useless govt being blissfully unaware of the needs of the common man. There is wholescale drought in the country and people are losing their harvests.at such time, is a mobile phone the most needed thing? I mean you don't even have to be a genius to figure this $hit out. Just use your common sense. It's so frustrating to live in a country like it's.
On an unrelated note, north Korea, where is wide spread starvation and people don't get proper food, has won 4 golds medals at this Olympics.whereas we,a so called emerging super power have failed to win a single gold.

Those Photon users who haven't got the update notification, fret not, please check for it manually, you can do that by heading on into Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Update Motorola Software.

This update kills unlock, so does that mean if your phone is currently "unlocked" it will get relocked OR does this mean now we cannot unlock it?
There is a way to unlock the bootloader in photon 4g.what this basically means is that, you can install custom roms on your photon 4g. When you update to 2.3.5 it kills the root and locks your bootloader again.this is the unlock that we are talking about.
