Yes, my email is visible in the profile section when login with SIM or SMS.

Your case seems complicated. Anyway login to your old account using "email-ID" and "password" through Browser in PC (Select 'Sign In using Email ID').

Now, on the login page enter your Registered Email ID and choose 'forgot password' & try to reset password. Thereafter you will be able to login to your old account and remove/replace the email ID and attached numbers too. Then you should create a new account using new number (Primary) and attach the email ID. You need to remove the linked account/numbers too.

Please let me know if it works.

Note that it takes approximately 24 hours for new email / Jio ID to get updated after email verification & OTP verification - please recheck.

My bhabhi has no balance on RCOM number and they didn't send any UPC. But when she tried to generate UPC, she got SMS stating that no need to change service as RCOM will continue. While my colleague has 3 RCOM nos in the family and got UPC without asking on all the numbers.

What was the SMS precisely ?

I have received UPC code on all my 3 RCOM numbers and since yesterday I am again receiving messages from Reliance with same UPC code but with extended validity till 31 December.

  3. Reliance Communications will shut down voice call service from December 1 but the customers can move to other networks by the end of the year i.e. 31st December 2017, as per direction issued by telecom regulator Trai today.

Trai has further directed Reliance Communications to immediately issue unique porting codes – required to move to other carriers through mobile number portability (MNP) – to its subscribers and keep them active till the end of December to facilitate their exit.

Trai has also informed RCom to send all the necessary information regarding closure of voice calls along with option to port out to any operators in case subscriber do not wish to continue with 4G data only services of the company.

Trai has also asked all telecom operators to accept request of RCom subscribers till December 31, 2017.

Trai has also directed RCom not to reject porting requests of subscribers who are using the service for less than 90 days, granting an exemption, also in the larger interest of consumers.

Trai has directed Rcom to issue public notice on the main page of its website, informing its subscribers regarding extension of validity of UPCs till 23:59:59 hours of December 31, 2017 and to port out their mobile number to any other telecom service provider till December 31, 2017.

RCom has also been asked to issue public notice of minimum size 12X12cm by November 6 in at least two daily newspapers in all circles including Delhi, Rajasthan, UP (West), UP (East), Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, West Bengal, Gujarat and Kolkata. Of the two, one newspaper should be in a regional language.

I have received portout codes for 3 numbers. 2 postpaid, 1 prepaid. all 3 are used in 4G handsets.

I meant that those who are using 4G SIM in 4G handset are also receiving the additional message saying -  "You may experience NW issues as we are optimizing it in MU. You can continue to enjoy our service or opt to port out to any network of your choice. RCOM" whereas others are only receiving the port code message instead.

i am using Reliance 4G sim in OnePlus 3T  and even i got the port code without asking.

That is because Trai has instructed RCom to do so when they closed the network abruptly at several locations - specially Shillong & Kerala where they have already switched off 2G..

Further Trai have issued a show cause notice too...

What does this mean? I am from Mumbai circle & having 4g connection.

The connection will become 4G only (data only as Reliance has not made any arrangements for Volte yet) after they switch off 2G & 3G towers. Those who are using 4G sim in 4G handsets are receiving such messages whereas those using the 4G sim in 3G or 2G handsets are receiving port code instead.

My advice is to generate a port code and port out instead of sailing in a sinking ship if the number is important.

Unfortunately the old code I received got deleted accidentally. Age is probably catching up... :(

Is there any other way I can generate a new code? Their customer care is absent so I'm caught in this unexpected limbo.

You might receive the same code again against your new request (not sure). It is taking more than 3 - 4 hours to get the code.

Otherwise try calling Nodal executive of your circle or visit rcom store or office in your area.

    You are from which circle?

I had taken a reliance sim by submitting my mother's id proof.I need to change the account and get it done by name.

Where can i get it done ?

If it's a prepaid number then you can directly take the new prepaid sim in your name while porting. You will have to produce your aadhaar card. Tell them that the number is in your name. That's it!

Okay, so I sent a fresh port out request a while ago and haven't yet received the code. Is this delay common?

Also, I'm thinking of going to Airtel once the code comes in. Which plan do you recommend? My internet usage is heavy.

The port code which you have received is valid for fifteen days so you will not get any new code. Just use that code and port out as soon as possible.

Did you have to download the Jio app for it (to get the coupon code) or did you directly go to the Jio store to get the number ported to Jio?

I tried the MyJio app but am not able to get this coupon code. It seems you need some Jio ID for the same, which I don't have. So I'm looking for the best way I can migrate my Reliane GSM prepaid number to Jio. I have the Aadhaar card but getting stuck at this coupon code part. Any specific advise in this regard would be helpful. Thanks!

    You don't require coupon code.

Just go to Jio Store with your local aadhaar card and UPC (port code) - nothing else.

They will give you a new sim and you need to recharge only after 7 days when your number gets activated.

Has anyone recently ported out from Reliance GSM to Jio?

A few months ago, I wanted to port out but Jio wasn't accepting port out requests from Reliance. Has the situation changed now? I'm in Mumbai circle.

I am in Mumbai circle and yesterday applied for porting from rcom 4G (Prepaid) to Jio (Prepaid). They gave me a new sim and said that it will get activated by 7th day.

I have one more rcom 4G Sim (still ₹62 balance) - all from Dapo offer (CDMA later migrated to 4G) right from 2003 which I am planning to port to Airtel or Vodafone.

Lol, I never knew they had postpaid but seems they don't want common people to go for it.

Yes, Mukesh Ambani is very much interested in Prepaid customers as he gets the money in advance whereas he discourages Postpaid (for common people) as that leads to outstanding, payment delays and bad debts too.

Received port out codes for 1 Delhi postpaid, 1 Delhi prepaid and 1 Kolkata postpaid numbers. All 4G SIM converted from CDMA. Kolkata SIM was also on High ARPU plan and regularly used for 4G and voice. As they intend to focus on data segment only, they would want to retain only 4G data card users.

Today I made a request for port code on my other number by sending sms to 1900 & after approx. 3 hours I received the code finally.

Update: Finally, I received UPC even without message been sent.

Few more people have got the same.

    So, is this it?

They are dispersing the family of over 10 crore rcom subscribers at one go.

    "Badi wafa se nibhayi humne,

    Tumhari Badi si bewafayi....."

Yes. I too received port code without requesting valid till 14th November 2017.

Now, getting sms from Rjio, asking to port to them, saying, "..... remain with reliance family...."

This Anil Ambani is such a culprit person. Like Tata is giving TTSL to Bharti for free ( no cash no debt basis),  He could also give rcom to Mukesh Ambani on the same formula. But he neither cared for his loyal customers nor for his family.

They want to retain users who are using 4G SIM & 4G handsets so the question of handing it's subscribers to Jio does not arise. Since I have not received any port code on my other SIM which is in 4G handset.

It is possible to call and sms through data with the help of special app (or softwares) if the internet provider permits. "JioFi (Jio's WiFi device) is a LTE device, sure it is NOT VOLTE device. We can call and SMS through this device with the help of "Jio4GVoice" app.  I have a 'Infocus M810' handset  which has no volte and only lte. Jio sim works in this handset, can call and sms if data is on. We can call clearly even in the low speed (speed after high speed daily limit).

Please note that a special app is required for voice/video call or sms to work on 4G/LTE network, which rcom has not yet developed AFAIK. Further the Jio4GVoice app uses the same Volte protocol and works as a Volte emulator on non Volte handset or with JioFi device.

Reliance (rcom) has clearly mentioned that they will ask customers to switch to 4G handsets, hence it does not seem that they will develop any communication app for 3G or non Volte 4G handsets.

Chances are that, for the time being they will continue their 3G network for voice fallback.

But it the duty of RCOM to declare / clarify with a public release about their intentions after 30th November as what will be the situation if someone is still stuck in their network.

I will get upc when the message will be sent to 1900. I am not able to send the port message. It says: "Message sending failed".

    Read this

"The customers of Reliance now have to move to another network by porting out (MNP) or they can upgrade their handset which supports 4G network to continue to use the same mobile number. Reliance has advised prepaid customers and retailers to exhaust all the remaining balance in their account before 30 November. All customers will receive UPC code by Reliance."

It is still not clear how rcom will provide voice & sms on 4G only network as they have not yet induced "Volte". Nothing is clear whether they will continue 3G or not.

Rcom has not issued any public notification or circular for its consumers yet.

Would the earlier plan not get forfeited in case of force activation?

I have used this (forced activation) and saw that both plans remain active and the data of second plan comes in place when the data of the first plan gets expired for the day & booster pack thereafter.

So in case of 509 & 999 the 2GB / day should get activated first & 999 should act as booster beyond 2GB.

    Good option from Jio.
