  1. Yes on reliance. And voice and data works properly. It's super stable. Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
  2. There's a forum dedicated to fassy on xda. You will find all details there. The latest is cm 11 ie kitkat. I'm running it since few days and is much better than any JB rom. Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
  3. Updated the instructions with only necessary steps required. Figured out long ago but thought this thread was dead so dint post. Hi Everyone!! The following settings are applicable for All the people (if any) who have bought a Samsung Fascinate (SCH-I500) from Reliance and are currently stuck with stock rom setup (eclair or froyo). As you know, 1x/3g data did not work on Custom roms (either touchwiz or mtd based). DJP952 from XDA (geewiz Rom) has helped me out with the following procedure which will enable you to have the latest Rom of your choice. Things you will need: 2) Yaffs explorer or similar app which allows you to edit your build.prop file 3) Custom Rom of your choice. Procedure 2) Follow the procedure given by the Rom developer to flash a new custom Rom (MTD or Touchwiz) and subsequently any gapps and other apps like yaffs explorer. 3) After you successfully boot your phone and make sure everything is working fine do the following to enable 1x/3g data on your phone 5) Next you will need to Modify the build.prop with these settings: ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=40400 (original no will be something like 310012 etc) ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=Reliance (is usually verizon) net.cdma.pppd.user=user net ( is usually user[space]verizon) net.cdma.pppd.password=password net Remember that if you do not find any of these settings in build.prop file you can create new entry. Type just the settings mentioned in BOLD . No extra spaces. Thats it. Just reboot and your phone will now connect to 1x/3g network. Cheers
  4. Sure I would. Am just waiting to login from a pc. I usually check out posts on rimweb on my phone itself. Edit: Hi Everyone!! Procedure 1) Copy the apns-conf.xml file and cdma-carriers.xml file from the following path /system/etc using yaffs explorer app to your sd card 2) Follow the procedure given by the Rom developer to flash a new custom Rom (MTD or Touchwiz) and subsequently any gapps and other apps like yaffs explorer. 3) After you successfully boot your phone and make sure everything is working fine do the following to enable 1x/3g data on your phone 4) Switch to Airplane mode 5) Copy the apns-conf & cdma-carriers files to the same folder ie /system/etc of new rom. Make sure to set properties as rw-r--r-- for both files. 5) Next you will need to Modify the build.prop with these settings: ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=40400 (original no will be something like 310012 etc) ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=Reliance (is usually verizon) net.cdma.pppd.user=user net ( is usually user[space]verizon) net.cdma.pppd.password=password net Remember that if you do not find any of these settings in build.prop file you can create new entry. 5. To all the users of samsung fascinate who bought the phone from Reliance and were stuck with stock setup because 1x/3g data didn't work on custom roms , I found a solution for you. I've been asking around many forums but could not get any answers. But djp952 from xda helped me out. Thanks to him, I'm now on the latest android version 4.2.1. Pm me if anyone is interested . I'll be happy to help.
  6. @phonegeek.... pls can u mail me the build.prop & apns-conf file of CM9 / JB rom?
  7. Is that an ICS rom? The dev said the formatting of JB file is very different. Anyway just request you to send it across . Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  8. Can someone using any Jelly bean rom on Fascinate with working 1x/3g data send me his build.prop and apns-cong.xml file. I need these as i am trying to work out a solution for my data problem with a Dev from xda. Hope it works..
  9. I've used PA 2.52 with Devil 1.9.5 kernel & Baked Beans Jelly bean with stock kernel on my phone till date. Both worked flawlessly for me. I'm still on PA setup till the 4.2 version is out.
  10. In stock rom, I have to set up the APN first in order to enable the 1x/3g data. To set it up I need to go to settings-wireless and network - mobile networks - cdma data settings In this menu I can setup the apn that I use. The settings that work for this network are as follows Name Reliance Net Connect PPP Digit: #777 Username : my 10 digit mobile number Password : my mobile number again Security : chap Data bearer : none After doing this setting my phone connects to 1x/3g data networks Custom Gingerbread Rom (TouchWiz and Mtd) Scene 1: As per all the guides that accompany the roms regarding correct flashing, all say that we need to wipe data, dalvik and cache. If I follow this and wipe all three (specially data), I have a properly working phone except for the data. I lose connection to the 1x/3g data networks. Everything else works fine. I have already tried copy pasting the files in the system /etc/ ppp folder. Also tried replacing the apns config file with the file from stock rom with no positive results. Scene 2 If I flash the geewiz 2.8 , geewiz 2.9 or tsm 2.2 resurrection rom directly over my stock rom, without wiping the Data, dalvik and cache, I get a perfectly working phone with 1x/3g data working. This works only for TouchWiz froyo and GB roms as the data files are different in mtd roms. Scene 3 If I flash the geewiz 3.2 Jelly bean rom without wiping data, dalvik and cache, the phone stays at the X logo permanently. If I wipe all three, the phone works properly but again I lose my 1x/3g connection. From all the above scenarios, it is confirmed that the data connectivity is dependant on the data files as whenever they are wiped or converted to mtd, I lose data connection. Is there any solution for this problem you can think of?
  11. @grebel.... flash the stock (reliance) froyo rom first. Setup netconnect in settings-wireless & n/w-mobile n/w and make sure data 1x and evdo is working. Then follow the procedure to flash the gb rom (geewiz/tsm/superclean) directly without wiping data, dalvik and cache. You will now have data working on GB rom of your choice.
  12. @joshm.....unfortunately both the links are down. Can you provide me with the same . Thanks in advance
  13. @joshm... if thats the honeycomb theme by notta, i just downloaded it and flashed it. Its real cool... :-)
  14. hi joshm! This theme looks cool. I too am on geewiz right now. Can you please post the theme as you mentioned.
  15. Hi! I have a Samsung Galaxy SCH-I500 (also named as verizon Fascinate/Mesmerize) which i bought from Reliance in India. Everything has been working smoothly including 1x/3G data too on stock roms. But it was using android 2.2 froyo. Not content with it, currently i have flashed the TSM resurection 2.2 Rom with KGB kernel. Everything is working fine. But when i try to flash any rom other than Touchwiz roms, my data stops working. I have used the data fix files for ICS for verizon as well as non verizon (by massaint) but still it just does not connect. The Roms (have tried THS Bld 2, MIUI ICS, and AOKP M6) but with the same results. My observation: 1) If i do not wipe data, cache & dalvik while flashing any Custom TW roms (like evil fascination, geewiz 2.8. or tsm res 2.2), I get 1x/3G connectivity. 2) If i wipe data, cache & dalvik while flashing any custom TW roms, I lose data connectivity on any above ROMs. 3) At any time if i flash back to Reliance stock roms I get back data connectivity again. Due to this i am not able to flash any mtd based roms as it (i presume) wipes everything & hence i get no 1x/3G data. PS: To enable 1x/3G data on stock rom (froyo) i have to go to settings-wireless & network -Mobile network-Reliance Netconnect (here i use Dial: #777; username: mobile no ; password: mobile no. Only then the phone connects to the Reliance data network. Unfortunately, there is no such option to set the APN on any custom TW Roms and neither on AOKP/MIUI/AOSP ICS. Infact, i heard/read the APN settings cannot be changed on ICS roms. Is there anything i can do about this. Can anyone help me out with a solution for the same Swapnil
  16. HI! @digitalnirvana ...I have checked the chap & pap files while on ICS. I find them to be same as when i am on stock rom on which data works. @joshm...If you can list the settings you have done on your handset using cdma workshop, i will check if the same are present on my handset too. I have taken a backup of the nv settings, noted my min no etc just to play safe in case something goes wrong. Btw, i too am on GW2.8.1 now after spending long time on TSM res 2.2. I've used cpu tuner to OC to 1.44GHz and its benchmarking better than when i was on tsm. Kudos to djp....I'm loving it
  17. Hi! I have tried this already but it never works on reliance handsets. Infact it even does not work on stock froyo rom from reliance. (if i backup settings using the app, then do a wipe of data, dalvik, cache and then try restoring it using the app.) Please note that on reliance handsets you have to go to settings-wireless & network -Mobile network-Reliance Netconnect (here i use Dial: #777; username: mobile no ; password: mobile no. Only then the phone connects to the Reliance data network. This is the only way data works. Infact, i have tried copying apn files from stock rom to custom ones but even if it shows reliance apn, it fails to connect.
  18. @grebel, I have the froyo stock rom ie ek10 which I personally use to go back to whenever something goes wrong. Please pm me your email address so that I can share it from my Google drive. This will restore your handset to stock Condition @kkicdma Hi kartik, I remember that you too had a reliance handset. how did you get the data working on Ics ? I've tried innumerable times to get it to work but have always failed to get data on any aosp aokp roms. I am able to flash only tw roms successfully (with data working) I've tried all the data fix files from massaint and others too. I have tried apn backup restore too. I doesn't help on reliance handsets.
  19. Did you try the odin files of geewiz? You can find the links on xda. See if it works. BTW, yesterday i flashed ek10 again & then flashed geewiz. It worked again for me. Dont know why its not working for u? Btw do you still have the dbdata problem? If yes , get it solved from serv centre first otherwise geewz wont work. (my personal experience)
  20. Hi Kartik, Surprised to know it dint work. When both handsets are same, it should have worked. Anyway, you said it is stuck on bootloop. Does it show samsung logo, verizon logo & then reboots? I was in the same scenario earlier but after getting it reset from service centre, and after flashing geewiz, it worked for me. Do you have any dbdata issues?
  21. Thanks Joshm, My thoughts too.... Ive tried way too many things, had to visit the Service center twice... Will be sticking to Stock for now. Hopefully Maverick75 will come up with a solution Hi Kartik, I am sure you have not given up. You dont have to. Just follow the steps i did. It will get you to atleast GB level. I havent loaded ICS as of now as last time i tried, it worked, but without data (so its useless for me). BTW i visited the SC to get my handset back to stock. Heres what i did next 1) Updated the handset from DL14 eclair to EK10 froyo. 2) Rooted the handset using procedure from xda (droidstyle guide step 6) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070) but dint replace the kernal as suggested by him for rooting froyo. Worked on our stock ek10 kernal. 3) Did a Nandroid Backup using recovery. 4) Backed up data from sd card (just in case... but dint require it though), Backed up sms, call logs using Super backup v1.1 (mobile idea studio) & Apps using App Backup Reinstall 5) Copied geewiz 2.8.1 Rom & kernal files on root of sd card shut down phone, restart in recovery using 3 finger tech 6) Selected install from zip - chose geewiz system and after completion chose geewiz kernel Then reboot. You will be on GB Pls note that i did not wipe neither cache nor dalvik nor data. It still worked for me. Plus point was that i dint have to do anything else like relogin to gmail or facebook etc. Its working fine for me as of now so should work for you too as we are sailing in the same boat (read Reliance handsets). Hope this helps.
  22. @kartik Did u try the geewiz GB rom? I was initially able to move on to GB using the geewiz 2.8 edify version rom & kernal. The only thing u have to do is u have to insert your mobile no in Dir using CDMA workshop or else it will keep showing you Select Language options screen. Do that & you should be on GB soon.
