  1. Dear All, Does anyone know a reliable mobile repair place in Mumbai/Thane who have experience in handling our imported Verizon Droid phones. Tried & tested shop which doesn't charge arbitrarily high prices. Please recommend. I have a perfectly functioning Droid Maxx which was lying unused for a couple of weeks. Suddenly it doesn't respond/doesn't turn on & doesn't even charge. When connected with the charger, a green LED glows on top for a few seconds & then nothing else. Have tried charging it overnight too. I really would like a qualified person to take look at it. Hoping for some feedback & suggestions. HELP. Thanks!
  2. Greetings! There have been posts in various threads which indicate that several users took Kitkat update on their Motorola phones (mainly Verizon devices) and 1x data has stopped working on Reliance CDMA. Suggestions such as changing the RUIM SIM card and trying a new SIM are workarounds and have already been made in other threads. I can consolidate a list of phones/ users affected by this upgrade and send it to my contacts in Motorola, who might be able to help resolve this issue from software perspective. So, if you have an issue with Reliance CDMA data, then please write in this thread if you can abide by the following: You have to be willing to install bug2go or some other debugging tool and send the bug report to Motorola if asked for. You have to be willing to participate in the troubleshooting exercise with Motorola, if required. I cannot promise anything at this stage, since this looks like a carrier specific issue. However, something in Kitkat has broken the functionality and that means Motorola can resolve the issue. It goes without saying, that for this to be prioritized, we have to have a large number of affected users. Please include following details: Carrier: Reliance CDMA (always) Version of OS: 4.4/4.4.2 Model: SIM: Kitkat upgrade method: OTA/ update by file using HoM script Issue: I will start with my dad's phone Carrier: Reliance CDMA (always) Version of OS: 4.4.2 Model: XT926 SIM: Normal SIM cut to mini form factor Kitkat upgrade method: update by file using HoM script Issue: 1x data worked fine on 4.1.2. After upgrading to 4.4.2, data stopped working.
  3. The Official Motorola Blog Monday, October 28, 2013 Goodbye Sticky. Hello Ara. Over the last six months, our MAKEwithMOTO team took Sticky, a truck wrapped entirely in velcro and filled with rooted, hackable Motorola smartphones and high-end 3D printing equipment, across the country for a series of make-a-thons. On that trip we saw the first signs of a new, open hardware ecosystem made possible by advances in additive manufacturing and access to the powerful computational capabilities of modern smartphones. These included new devices and applications that we could never have imagined from inside our own labs. Open fuels innovation. See some examples here, here, and here. After the trip, we asked ourselves, how do we bring the benefits of an open hardware ecosystem to 6 billion people? Meet Ara. Led by Motorola’s Advanced Technology and Projects group, Project Ara is developing a free, open hardware platform for creating highly modular smartphones. We want to do for hardware what the Android platform has done for software: create a vibrant third-party developer ecosystem, lower the barriers to entry, increase the pace of innovation, and substantially compress development timelines. Our goal is to drive a more thoughtful, expressive, and open relationship between users, developers, and their phones. To give you the power to decide what your phone does, how it looks, where and what it’s made of, how much it costs, and how long you’ll keep it. Here’s a sneak peek at early designs for Project Ara: The design for Project Ara consists of what we call an endoskeleton (endo) and modules. The endo is the structural frame that holds all the modules in place. A module can be anything, from a new application processor to a new display or keyboard, an extra battery, a pulse oximeter--or something not yet thought of! We’ve been working on Project Ara for over a year. Recently, we met Dave Hakkens, the creator of Phonebloks. Turns out we share a common vision: to develop a phone platform that is modular, open, customizable, and made for the entire world. We’ve done deep technical work. Dave created a community. The power of open requires both. So we will be working on Project Ara in the open, engaging with the Phonebloks community throughout our development process, as well as asking questions to our Project Ara research scouts (volunteers interested in helping us learn about how people make choices). In a few months, we will also send an invitation to developers to start creating modules for the Ara platform (to spice it up a bit, there might be prizes!). We anticipate an alpha release of the Module Developer’s Kit (MDK) sometime this winter. So stay tuned. There will be a lot more coming from us in the next few months. --Paul Eremenko, and the Motorola Advanced Technology and Projects group, Project Ara Team at 9:10 PM http://motorola-blog.blogspot.com/2013/10/goodbye-sticky-hello-ara.html?m=1 Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk

  6. Hi Just last evening I checked the System Updates on my unrooted Droid 4 and there it was! Upgraded it. Project Butter lives upto the mark. Works smooth like butter. The ONLY UGLY issue am facing: My data from the network is somehow locked, or in short, not working. Visited Vodafone gallery & they checked the settings, which were fine, but still the data is not working. The SIM when inserted on another phone, data works fine. NEED HELP! Please, suggest me how I can make the data work on my Droid 4! Please! Also, how do I root m Droid 4 on Jelly Bean? Currently my phone is technically paralyzed because of this issue! Thank You!!
  7. I am looking to buy this phone. can somebody please help me with the review or their experience with the phone. Also please guide me if there is any official upgrade to froyo or gingerbread. 8. I want a slider QWERTY android phone in Mumbai on Vodafone network. Narrowed down to Motorola Droid 4, which has a GSM radio but isn't enabled by Verizon. How do I make it work here in Mumbai? Also, from where can I buy the phone? Do I have to order from USA via someone for a non-contract version or with contract will also do without any efforts? What does Verizon mean when they say with the GSM patch, can roam globally? Does that mean that although I'll be using the phone 100% of the time in India only, it'll be on roaming? Would be glad if anyone can help me clear all these doubts. Thank You Very much!
