Reliance cuts local call, SMS rates in NCR

:winko: :Chulo:

New Delhi, Aug 26: Anil Ambani group firm Reliance communIcations Sunday slashed its local call and SMS rates for subscribers in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Reliance subscribers will now be able to call any local reliance phone for just 90 paise per minute and can send SMS to any local phone for 90 paise only, a company release said.

"The reduction in local call and SMS rates today make our offering 25 per cent more attractive than other operators," RCOM President (Personal Business) S P Shukla said.

The company had recently introduced unlimited free calls to any reliance mobile in NCR. The new rates are applicable on freedom plan for all prepaid subscribers with effect from August 26.

I had earlier posted in a forum about smses that Reliance might reduce the call rates and sms rates to hurt the Gsm operators as to pack a punch at the right time.

I stand vindicated today.

The reduction is for On-net local only. Hope there is no compensating increase in Off-Net charges or Inter-circle charges

Reliance has introduced Rs. 55 STV in Delhi.

It offers local calls to mobiles and landlines both on net and offnet@ 0.50/min.

Idea charges Rs. 71 for the same benefits in Delhi.I have no clue about Airtel and Hutch.

Secondly Idea has silently increased the rates for the followings in Delhi:

1.Special recharge for UP and Bihar
STD calls to mobiles in Up and Bihar@1.00
STD calls to LL in Up and Bihar@1.00/30sec

Earlier Rs. 38/month
Now Rs.52/month

2.Special recharge for STD calls
All STD mobile calls@1.32/min

Earlier Rs.34/month
Now Rs. 49/month

Hutch on the other hand is advertising its BONUS cards on TV.
The truth behind these is that the validity of these cards have been reduced to 15 days.
So it might seem as they have reduced the rates but actually they have increased the rates as one has to recharge twice in a month for the same facility earlier available for lesser charges.
