I want a new postpaid connection with a special number for last 6 digit. Is it possible to get the number from Reliance without any special charge?

It will depend on the number. A number ending with 223344 etc. will cost a lot. I got 662000 for free. You can check it from a Web World and will tell you whether it is chargeable or not (and whether its available).

VIP numbers can be taken... for free.. or a nominal fee if you happen to know the local sales person, i had a similar contact but he left reliance. so again a problem.
it will be preferable to go for a sales person who is not able to make his monthly target...he will be more than happy to help you.

the problem is to identify such a sales person.

happy hunting in the new year..

The site is up and running.
You can bid for special numbers.
In the era of MNP, your number will become your lifetime identity irrespective of operators.
Its worth buying one TATA Indicom connection just for securing your life-time identity although you're very much satisfied with your current operator.
Hurry up and catch the number before unique numbers runs out in your circle.

'Priority Number', 'Vanity Number' or 'VIP number' whichever way you call, is not free. With the number portability in the offing, yes, it is a good option to choose one such number from any one operator which comes cheapest and migrate to your favourite operator.
TATA offers Silver, Gold, Diamond and religious special number like '786' embeded at a premium. I am using my diamond number 9233445566 which I purchased for Rs5000.
