Tata Introduces Photon

Recommended Posts

That is for buissness users

What about Personal users

They seem to be neglected

Hope the price is around Rs500 but by the looks of things

They have priced at 7000 so i guess they may charge upto Rs 1000 which is very high compared to BSNL's EVDO

This in deed is a Wi-Fi according to Tata's website. However, its tariff is quite high and for multi-user location only.

its more like imagining a wifi router with in built wireless data connect modem... something like a fwt/fwp for phones... lik emost of the laptops in the US come inbuilt with evdo cards so u neednt plug in any usb device or modem... just turn on u rlappy and ur good to go...

No Question again

It is EVDO Rev A. and the same USB Modem Router can fall back to 1x Network if EVDO is not available.

Thank GOD 3G EVDO is available from BSNL and Now from TATA in Selected Circle

in Next 3 Months Max we could get from Reliance for All India Level

Yes, it is EVDO.

Now CDMA operators are falling to line. Till now they wanted spectrum.

Means 3G is now on horizon.

BSNL have Blocked SMS in there Card means still they cant sell Mobile Like Service in EVDO Specturm they are trying now. They must have to shell out Hefty price to use EVDO in Different Band for Mobile Service

Tata is offering both SMS and Voice on their HSIA devices but at very high tariffs. For more info click on the link provided by bala yogesh above.

It is understandable from BSNL's point of view

I guess they r offering EVDO from their new CDMA services

So they do not like to offer SMS and VOICE calls because they fear that they would new Extra spectrum

On the other hand TATA is offering VOICE and SMS on EVDO at a high price

Common Voice / SMS tariffs for all three above plans:

Voice: Local (any network): Rs. 1.25/min

Inter circle (any network): Rs.2.65/min

ILD (any country): Rs.12/min

SMS:

Local (any network): Re. 1/message

Inter circle (any network): Rs.2/message

ILD (any country): Rs.5/message

Hi... its been a while since i've been here, good to see you all again :)

I've been using this Photon HSIA service for about a month now and its been pretty decent so far

I took the unlimited plan for Rs 1500 pm and it's been some heavy-duty downloading :D

Only surprise is that although the speeds sound like 3G / EVDO, neither Tata Indicom nor the equipment manufacturer - ZTE (China) claim that it's 3G .... so im still not sure if its really 3G / EVDO.

Whatever the system, its been satisfying.

hey redshift, What was the initial charges for taking this connection. It seems unbelievable 230KB/s - Do you get it constantly? It seems to be EVDO else how to justify such speeds?

The initial downpayment was 3500...

The speeds are not this high *constantly* - it was one of the better times when i took the screenshot. But roughly we can d/l 3+ GB per day. minimum.

Btw, Looks like Tata doesn't yet have permission to run this HSIA service in the metros, only in the suburbs apparently.
