well yesterday on tech guru i saw them reviewing this evdo data card ...

it was been tested in mumbai ...

he was getting on an average 600 kilobits/s

and his avg download speed for 70kbps

When I called Reliance customer care, they indicated the same- they said 3.1 is the MAXIMUM, but what can be expected is 600-1300 kbps.

Their ads are misleading and they should not call something unlimited and then cap it at 10GB citing some stupid thing called Fair Usage Policy - its simply misleading!

The FUP clause is very disappointing. I'm considering Tata Photon.

Pros

1) No FUP

2) New Unlimited Plan is now 1250/=

Cons

1) Rev 0 (the website info is wrong: router and modem are both 2.4Mbps.

FUP is a deal breaker: Reliance please reconsider fast.

Yes, Tata Photon sounds like a better bet... too bad they are going to miss the first player advantage by restricting themselves to certain parts of Chennai only for now.

I had asked to web world regarding launch he said next week, and he can show me demo card also.

Actually Tata Photon is also having FUP

Check the tariff at http://www.tataindicom.com/hsia-usb-tariff.aspx

The chennai tariff shows FUP as 15GB!

Edit: Sorry rahulbhansali already gave the link.

But Reliance 3.1Mbps service is crap unless there is no FUP.

Second thing is there is Bsnl too , but it's speed is limited to 800kbps but worth ,

Tata Evdo not here in Punjab ,

Last thing, Is Reliance capable of providing Evdo at good speed considering , there is crunch in their CDMA spectrum , and there is no chance of getting addition spectrum in near future ,

Both CDMA and EVDO uses Same Band like 850 and 1900

so if government have EVDO Band for Spare it can be also used in 1x and Vice Versa

Great Speed compared to mine.Never expected the speed to be this much.

However a few questions:

1.Do you get this same speed throughout the day?

2.For how long did the above speed lasted?

3.Whats the minimum constant speed you've encountered?

4.Lastly, how far are you from the nearest tower?

Another thing. If not for the FUP, you would have got one of the best internet in the world.
