Bb 8830 World Edition Dual Sim?

Recommended Posts

While using a Reliance CDMA SIM card, can I simultaneously use a GSM card of another network?

I have not seen BB 8830 world edition being described as a DUAL SIM phone anywhere in the product literature.

well 8830 is dual band phone it can run on both cdma and on gsm ( outside US)

cdma has to be injected ( programmed ) in the phone

there is a sim slot which will accept your gsm cards .

ur cdam connection needs to be programmed ..

but in order to use sim card your phone has to be unlocked by the operator or else u wont be able to use airtel sim card .

but gsm /cdma cant be used simultaneously ....

one connection a time ...to change connection u will have to go into settings and select gsm/1*rtt everytime u want to change

ok leave the data services...suppose i want to use my airtel sim for voice call only then can i use it without unlocking it...

one more doubt....

if i use my airtel sim in bb8830 after using tata's connection then can i use my tata connection with data services again ??????

the gsm service has to be unlocked either by the provider or by other means then only u can use gsm service ...

if reliance /tata are selling unlocked phones then its good enough .

the sprint ones u get from sadikk are unlocked to work with any gsm network

if u have tata data connection ( which would be bis/bes ) then it will work only in cdma mode

airtel gprs will work in gsm mode

GSM Services are usually unlocked,,,,

I am using BB8830 from Tata Indicom & using my Vodafone ,,,, but as suggested above you need to change network setting and you can not use both service together.

1.Firstly ur CDMA number should be programmed on handset.

2.You would be able to use GSM only for voice calls.

3. For data based services if you want to use the same handset for GSM, you firstly need to go to GSM operator office to check whether they can configure your handset on their network, if yes, then you have to get your phone deactivated from CDMA operator n it could be used for GSM then.

Thanks,
