Difference Between Cdma/wcdma/gsm

Htc touch dimond has following network capabilities mentioned on HTC website

what does it mean ? will it work on GSm as well as CDMA

HSDPA/WCDMA:

Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz

Up to 384 kbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds

Tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE:

Europe/Asia: 900/1800/1900 MHz

"W-CDMA (Wideband-CDMA) is a GSM technology and has nothing to do with CDMA which Reliance uses. Reliance CDMA2000 1x network operates on the 800 Mhz band.

3 years back i had this same doubt with Nokia N91 wcdma and inquired in many shops that if i can use it with reliance :)

Some 7k series handset was first one with WCDMA... and lots of people wud call me for clarification...
