Recommended Posts

Airtel India’s largest telecom service provider, today launched the PAY PER SECOND PLAN dubbed as ‘Freedom Plan’ for its GSM Mobile customers across India.

With the launch of this plan, Airtel customers will have the freedom of choosing from a variety of plans based on their usage and calling patterns.

In the ‘Freedom Plan’, Airtel customers will be charged 1 PAISA PER SECOND for All Local and STD calls to Airtel Numbers anywhere in India and 1.20 PAISA PER SECOND for Local and STD calls all to other network across India.

The Freedom Plan will be available across the country in all the 4.25 lakhs towns and villages covered by the Airtel distribution network.

It will be an attractive proposition for customers who desire a one-second pulse. Other customers can subscribe to the ‘Airtel Advantage’ plan that offers 50 paise per minute tariff for all calls within Airtel Network and 60 paise per minute off net.

Mr. Atul Bindal, President, Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel Ltd said that “As the undisputed leader in the Indian telecom industry, we are committed to delighting our customers through superior network, great customer service and best value for money. Today, our network covers 110 million customers, has 100,000 sites and is available across 4.25 lakh towns and villages in 1.5 million outlets,”.

“In keeping with our ethos of providing the best to our customers, we are delighted to offer a one second pulse to those customers who find value in this pulse. Customers now have a wide choice of plans based on their usage and calling patterns,” he added.

With Aircel “Pay Per Second Plan” there is a limit on the STD usage – upto first 10,000 seconds per month will be charged at 1 paisa, after which STD calls will be charged at 2 paisa per second.

All Local calls – 1p/second (any network-any time)

All STD calls – 1p/second (any network-any time) – upto first 10,000 seconds per Month after that 2p/second

SMS, ISD Calls and Roaming charge as per normal prepaid tariff.

Interesting tariff!!!!!!!! If Airtel can calculate 1.2ps/sec then it also means that 1ps/sec is not the cheapest tariff at all. it can go below 1ps also.

As of now all telcos are holding on to 1ps/sec keeping in mind profitability and also calculation easiness. If any operator, especially any new operator like Uninor and Etisilat wishes, it can break this monotony and push telecom tariffs further southwards......:)

GOOD for Airtel customers only. I dont think it will lead to people migrating to Airtel. It may help Airtel retain its own subscribers though.

I don't think its enough to retain customers.

Simple arithmetic, currently Airtel has about 25% of the total mobile subscribers.

It practically means an Airtel subscriber's 75% of the calls is outside the n/w.

So the key for retention is reducing charge for offnet calls which still Airtel has not achieved.

Exactly airtel wants to retain its old customers rather than get new from other networks , anyway DOCOMO pressure has made them do it :Sorprendido:

DOCOMO pressure??

Really i dont think so...

They are not a big player to make such an impact...

TATA are stil in losses of over 2000Cr in Mobile service....

N i think they are very near to sell it off to some other player...

Pay per call and per second might be just there last try

Its all because of Reliance simple...

Just look at Stock market(Telecom stocks)after the launch of this plan

almost all stocks are down to there year lows...

Airtel has launched 1 sec pulse plan in post-paid also

Airtel Freedom 249

Airtel - 1p/s

Others - 1.2p/s

Local SMS - 50p

National SMS - 60p

10500 local seconds free

200 local sms free

Airtel has introduced one of the costliest plan. Will Airtel ever change? Maybe after they lose their no.1 position.

You are 100% right. Airtel has got this habit of singing good network tune whenever there is talk of tariff. As other Companies they too have more than 94% pre paid users. Let still better tariffs and they will see the logic.
