All Incoming Message Date Showing Year 2016?

Recommended Posts

All incoming messages I am receiving on my Reliance Prepaid CDMA connection is showing the correct Date and Time BUT the year is being shown as 2016... on my windows mobile phone (HTC Touch Pro). As I am viewing them date wise, this is causing a problem in message filing, as my outgoing are going on correct date; hence in chat style message testing messages are getting lopsided...

This has started happening since 1st Jan, 2010. Is it happening to anyone else also? Please update?

EDIT: The Issue has been SOLVED.... See Post 17

I did not face this problem on my RCDMA pre paid and postpaid, also RGSM prepaid is showing correct dates.

May be your handset settings ???

this problem has started only since 1st Jan 2010; no setting issues, as outgoing are showing correct date; but incoming like e.g. from reliance when I check balance by sending bal to 53670 the reply I have just got came with date 04-Jan-16 6:39PM.... however delivery notifications are coming with proper date... some backend server issues, I presume...

Pls check complete date and update; specially in those handsets where complete date is shown... also I wud request windows mobile/smartphone/blackberry users to also update...

OK, I fixed this issue by adding this entry in my registry -

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\SMS]

"RecvTimeStamp"=dword:00000001

Kindly note that entry is not there and has to be added and the Dword value has to be put as 1; Note that this is a FIX, not a permanent solution; now what it will do is use the current system date and time as the received date and time; Now if ur mobile will be OFF, u will face issue that you will not be able to detect when the message (i.e. how long ago) was it exactly sent. BUT this has solved a big headache for me for the moment... read the above PPCGeeks post if you have any questions/issues...

Procedure-

Open Resco Explorer 2008 with registry addin added or any registry editor

Go to My Registry

Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Go to Software\OEM\SMS

Click Menu-New-DWORD Value

Give the Name - RecvTimeStamp and put DWORD Data as 1

Click Done

Reboot PPC

Issue solved

this bug is not only limited to mobile phones but also to POS.. many POS in AUstralia are affected. even samsung/lg is also facing similar problem. its our beloved, Microsoft bug   .. 10 in hex is 16... so thats the problem.. you can find the installable cab at below link... i downloaded it. and testing..

you will also need to install compact .net framework version 3.5 download the same from following link

Compact Framework 3.5

connect phone to PC, then double click on downloaded, .msi file. it will ask whether you want to modify/repair/remove. select modify and follow onscreen instructions...

after installing framework, install cab file downloaded from link below. once install, click/tap on Y2k16 bug fix on your cell. click install pacth and follow the instruction. it iwill ask to reset, let it reset. it works for new SMSs..

Download installable link.

yes, i had to delete my earlier messages between 1st and 4th Jan to set things right... there's another way to import them into excel and correct them, but i didnt find that feasable and thought deleting them to be an easier option...

also, the above simple one line registry entry does the work fine...
