You can type more than 160 character in one sms, but you sms will go in parts, also you will be charged per part.
I have experienced lost of sms like this, part no-3 will come first then no-1 and then no-2 (in any combination)
even if we sent it will go in same way............

WHY IS IT LIKE THIS ANYONE Explain in brief...

Is it can be solved by

1)Network?
2)TRAI?
3)Technical solution by engineers?
Does in other countries also the CDMA operators sorry customers is facing same problem....

I have no clues as to the reason behind it..But I do believe it cant be solved..Otherwise it would have been rectified by now..Its been 5 years of CDMA in India..

Yes !
SMS = Sort Message service, so only 160 characters per sms.
and part sms issue is part and parcel of CDMA technology.

even in gsm more than 160 character sms goes in parts, only handset side it became single sms.

It is an Qualcomm fault.

Dudes, dudes, you cannot solve a problem by explaining it away! Fact is that CDMA plain s**ks at a lot of things; esp. texting. In fact I'd say it seems to be its weakest point. Saying that texting is for short messages, when even very basic GSM phones can handle around 950 characters, does not help.

If I do want to send a 950 character essay     to someone, how does an encyclopedia article educating me on the definition of SMS help? On the other hand, my GSM phones (any operator) are eminently helpful...

While it is true that >160 chars messages go separately even in GSM, an ordinary user will not even guess what happens in the background because it works so seamlessly.

As a past CDMA user, I have suffered a lot due to its pathetic texting capabilities (amongst several other drawbacks) and have advised many users to keep away from CDMA, ESPECIALLY if texting is important. And as I had mentioned earlier, there is no technological basis for CDMA's claims regarding voice clarity (actual experience may differ based on 1,000 other factors... so not looking to start an argument on that again).

I am also unhappy with this 160 char limit, when most GSM handsets, even the basic ones, handle LMS so flawlessly. I am particularly annoyed with the SMS client on my 755P. It s*cks, except for the chat mode - which is cool. That said i am not an avid LMSer, so I can live with it.

I dont think it is possible in CDMA
as CDMA technology is almost 20year old and still this is not patched by anyone.

Isn't CDMA newer compared to GSM. GSM was started in early 80s whereas CDMA in 90s??
