Rather than debating on Nikon or Cannon we should be model specific....

My choice whould be nikon D series if Fits your pocket

Correct !

we should be model specific rather than company specific !

Nikon D series is good ,

Also if budget is little low you can think of Fuji cameras

Thanks buddys

I have narrowed my search to Canon 1000 D and Nikon D 3000

which is the best ?

Cost difference is almost 5K

3 months back, price were almost same for these two models

now canon reduced price to 25K

and nikon still 30 K

well in case of SLR canon 1000D is good if you want light and natural colors. and nikon if you want more contrast in colors. overall both are good. so take your own decision. I am using canon 450D and now 500D and I am happy with the performance my friend is using the nikon D60 and D3000 both of them are happy with the output so in entry level segment your personal choice :)

Review by Camera Labs

Nikon D3000  :- http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Nikon_D3000/verdict.shtml

Cannon 1000 :- http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Canon_EOS_1000D_Rebel_XS/verdict.shtml

first your should choose your functions , which functions are required and which functions are not required, the check boths specs then go for most suitable one

I have Canon 1000D. I am more than happy. I had bought it for 27.5K. Now it's available for 25K

Pretty good entry level DSLR. Don't even think twice. You will never regret with Canon.

A few sample pics that I took -

PS: I am not against Nikon. It is equally good system. Everyone has their opinion.

got to know that ... Nikon D3000 and Canon 1000D is made in taiwan (only these are available now )

Thats y the price reduced

I just HATE Chineese and taiwan make products ...low quality ..craps

After 2 China Cameras, now I am using a Canon (made in Japan)

which is having excellent quality ...

You wont belev ...

My 3 year old Kid with plays it (2 or 3 times had a mighty fall also)

still working fine
