Blackberry 8830 .... Bsnl 3G?

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

I have BB 8830 "Siddik's"

Currently on Reliance CDMA.

I do have a BSNL Prepaid.. which i use for data/gpra as data doesnt work in CDMA for this.

BSNL GPRS is very slow so i was just wondering..... if i opt for a BSNL 3G.. will it work?

What bout the GPRS/DATA Speed?

Will i be able to watch IPL @ Youtube?

I know .. m sounding like a nobb... but that's my status on BB as i am unable make data work for me on CDMA.

The phone supports the CDMA 3g bands ( EVDO ) but not the GSM bands ( WCDMA/HSDPA )

blackbeery 8830 is only 2G handset

3G CDMA = EVDO

this phone is capable of taking EVDO signals, but evdo will not work in india for imported handsets.

Here are the my test results for you and forum members

AREA (Around Borivali, Mumbai)

Service Provider	Handset Download Speed	Surfing (With Opera)	Plugin Upload Speed
AirTel BB 8830 3-10 KB/s	.25-02 KB/s	IDM(internet download manager)	Not Checked
DOCOMO BB 8830 5-15 KB/s	.25-05 KB/s	IDM(internet download manager)	Not Checked
RELGSM BB 8830 5-15 KB/s	.25-05 KB/s	IDM(internet download manager)	Not Checked
AIRCEL BB 8830 1-5 KB/s	.25-01 KB/s	IDM(internet download manager)	Not Checked
Windows XP SP2	VER 5.41
Service Provider	Handset Download Speed	Surfing (With Opera)	Plugin Upload Speed
AirTel Nokia 6233 5-15 KB/s	.25-03 KB/s	IDM(internet download manager)	Not Checked

Get GSM + BIS on this phone, (100% possible)

which will be MAX for your phone.

But still, you can't use any apn which has a proxy. And BIS is too expensive compared to the normal gprs plans. Choose wisely

I am not on BES/BIS .. but how it is going to change/increase data transfer speed..??

Pls throw some light on this ( and any possible tweak to get maximum possible data transfer speed), which is i believe (theoretical maximum is 473.6 kbit/s) which means > 473.6/8 = 59.2 KB/s.
