Verizon HTC Incredible - The Beefed Up CDMA Nexus 1

Recommended Posts

"This is from another forum, but it wont let me post links because i'm new

It is a good explanation. it's over on incredibleforum dot com thanks to luv2increase

EVRC-B is an advanced, new and better audio codec than regular EVRC. Verizon started rolling out EVRC-B in 2007. The people who have bad experiences with doing this settings change are either:

1) Not in an area of the country where EVRC-B has been implemented yet

or

2) A little too far or just on the outer edge of the EVRC-B range

For those within the viscinity of EVRC-B capable towers, we are "LUCKY"

Why are we lucky? Well, it is a "fact" that EVRC-B will allow better call quality. That is one of the reasons it was designed and implemented!

It was posted earlier, but here it is again just in case some of you didn't see it from page #2:

Enhanced Variable Rate Codec B - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I suggest everyone read that and to make the settings change. If you have worse quality or no reception, then just change it back. Apparently, Verizon hasn't made it to your area yet, unfortunately."

This is from the link given by dkaile. I think you missed posting this for info.

BIG BREAKTHROUGH TO PLAY VIDEO FILES DIRECTLY WITHOUT CONVERTING -

I found this while surfing xda and thought you could all find it interesting as I have seen many people looking for DivX players here (myself included :-) ) (should work on all android devices, tested by me on Incredible)

This application can supposedly play Divx, Xvid, Mkv and RMB files.

I have FULLY TESTED IT and at 1st glance it looks pretty good and all my avi files play directly now. I will continue to test and hopefully will no longer need to convert my files to mp4.

If anyone is interested the app is not yet on the Market but can be downloaded from:

http://rapidshare.com/files/400580481/Rock_divx_Player.apk

It is a closed beta. And as of right now DOES NOT see the internal memory at all. Only the sdcard. It watermarks the fps in the upper right hand corner.

But beyond that, it works beautifully.

edit: just noticed that if you click on the DIVX icon twice while its playing it will get rid of the FPS watermark

EDIT2: Enjoying Avatar directly on my Incredible in FULL HD, not a single stutter, thats the power of snapdragon...and loving my device more and more everyday...

Network used : Reliance

USB Signal is shown because it is connected to the computer for only charging and/or file transfer

The speed could be seen by the sign '3G'

Which Method : Unknown to the world outside the Incredible team... ;)
