Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network

Recommended Posts

Be it the MDA or the ADA, both want to move into our homes sooner or later..

Integrating all the services in one cable. Television channels, broadband, landline, power, insurance, petroleum products.. they just might enter into credit cards and soaps too..

This monopoly view may seem farfetched but you can read the times to come in the newspapers and follow the trend to understand.

Anyways both are shrewd businessmen. congratulations to them.

Dont Forget Ambanis Offering is always for aam admi, they never think for Luxury Market they have Lions share to bring down cost. Remember the Monsoon Hungama, Cheap STD, Cheap National SMS, DAPO plans etc etc

True, only reliance knows what India needs. Its Indian consumer, especially urban consumer do not know what they need. So they choose expensive services and then crib. :Chulo:

There is this movie that i have seen recently.. called 'chaos'..

A bank is taken a hostage but no cash is stolen...

so its a failure..right.

No, they plant a virus in the computer system which integrates into all the savings accounts of aam aadmi and transfers small amount of money i.e abt $100 to other account and thus over $1billion are stolen.

this discrepancy is not noticed because the system is set to raise an alarm only if huge sums are transferred....

M/ADA is the game, like .. muddal rehne de.. byaj chalu rakh. Consstent amount should come every month from whatever is ibvested even if there is a initial loss seen but profits are realised over a long stretch of time.

no offenses to anyone..

@copperco2

Mathematics is okay but Example are wrong . People choose what they want to buy. People are not hostage of anybody.

BTW what all multinationals are doing ? We must not forget that due reliance only mobile came to average Indian. India still need one more revolution, now for data along with voice. IMHO only MDA will be working for masses and he will not divert energies and resources to kill BSNL and mtnl like current gsm gang.

Multinationals are not going for predetory monopoly. If you will notice MDA and ADA in between them have not left any sector untouched which is consumed by masses. If they have anything left by chance then they are planing to enter in a huge way.

For e.g. As soon as Mukesh Ambani announced his entry to UMPP (Ultra Mega Power Plants), its in planning stage currently but this made all the other proposed project promoters on a back foot... many of them has put their project on hold. The scale these guys work on is hugely tremendous and thus gives them a cost advantage.

I am not speaking up against anyone. MDA is acknowledged by the business community as a great visionary and executioner and ADA as the financial brain to bankroll the vision... before they parted their ways.

RIL likely to go with Samsung for WiMax roll-out

Having won spectrum for providing broadband wireless access (BWA) services in the 22 telecom circles through its subsidiary Infotel Broadband, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) will use WiMax technology rather than long term evolution (LTE)for BWA.

A source who is aware of the development said, "Infotel has now finalised the technology and is in an advanced stage of negotiations with Samsung for sourcing WiMax equipment."

The Korean giant is a player both in network equipment as well as WiMax handsets business.

The source further said, "Reliance Infotel has been conducting WiMax trials for the last couple of months."

Samsung has already provided equipment to 56 mobile operators in 34 countries including Clearwire in USA, UQ Communications in Japan and YTL Communications in Malaysia.

Samsung also makes a range of electronic equipment such as USB dongles, embedded devices and mobile phones. It has developed several devices with combinations of WiMax, GSM, CDMA and WiFi fpr connectivity.

Since RIL has chosen Samsung, it is clear that deployment will be on the mobile WiMax platform and not fixed WiMax standard.

Infotel deciding to go with WiMax will act as a saviour for the technology, which has received several setbacks in the recent past, with players such as Yota in Russia and Sprint in USA announcing plans to go for LTE. It will also deal a body blow to short term LTE prospects in India.

However, despite most operators keeping the option of using both technologies open, it is still unclear as to whether Reliance Infotel will keep the doors open for LTE in the future or not.

It's big big blow for LTE if the story is true.

While reading wikipedia on LTE and Wimax i had hoped that LTE should be launched in India. If the above Story is true then Reliance have lost a Great opportunity.

well... It is a good move considering that WiMax is the current technology and RIL can hopefully start services towards the end of this year around the same time 3G also starts.

The only doubt is whether the current WiMax standard is afford-ably upgradeable to LTE?

http://profit.ndtv.com/news/show/mukesh-ambani-sets-18-month-deadline-for-broadband-launch-116960?pfrom=Business

Barely a few months after saying Reliance wants to grow as fast in the next ten years as it did in the last thirty years, India's richest business leader Mukesh Ambani called his lieutenants to his residence over the weekend to lay out the roadmap for the company and the future management.

NDTV Profit has learnt exclusively from its sources that the RIL chairman started by setting a deadline for the rollout of its broadband network.

But unlike earlier expectations, the broadband rollout is going to take time with Ambani setting a 18 month time frame. The company’s broadband strategy also includes voice services with product design catering to a convergence of voice, video and data.

RIL is expected to spend Rs. 5000 crore on broadband's commercial launch.

During the meeting, Mukesh Ambani ruled out any major capex for the next twelve months which means RIL's cash reserves are expected to swell to around Rs. 50,000 crore from the current R

s. 30,000 crore.

But 3G can never match 4G. Obviously, customers will go mad about 4G on launch.

Its a good move by MDA... He will want to wait and see the scenario of 3g in india for the next 18 months, and till then they will have have all the time in the world to test both LTE and WiMax for India.

With MNP in place, I am sure, people will be ready to shift to MDA owned voice services, which he plans to start...

Kudos to the Original Big B...

Trust Reliance to float this 18 month time frame to throw competitors off-track.

Going by Reliance's past history of world's fastest turn key project implementations in sectors like Refinery, Natural Gas, Retail, this surely looks like a PR Misinformation baloon with the help of friendly media.

Reliance will never wait this long after pumping in thousands of crores in broadband acquisition. Moreover this is not a project like Refinery where you have to errect all that giant structures and it will take a minimum of 2-3 years howerver fast one goes. Broadband in Reliance's case is a different story altogether. Since it is Wireless, he does not need to worry about last mile connectivity and putting physical infrastructure everywhere which takes time.

And Reliance waiting for everyone and then launch their services!!!!. They will tend to be leaders rather than followers. They like to take the action rather than react.

Most probably it will be LTE as Reliance has a deep comfort level with Qualcomm and current Wi-Max standard pales in terms of Download/Upload speed.

spot on, rajan ji. MDA will define the real indian telecom scene, nobody has his vision. Only Mukesh Ambani can tap the real telecom potential in India, while all others, including brother Anil just follow the herd, each one copying the other.

MDA's team will do it on time.

So expect another Monsoon Hungama 501 in BWA.

Reliance Broadband (Mukesh Ambani) Chooses LTE over WiMax

Reliance Gives Impetus to LTE TDD in India

Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) and Ericsson AB (Nasdaq: ERIC) showcased the results of the first field trial of Long Term Evolution Time Division Duplex (LTE TDD) mobile broadband technology in India on Monday.

For the trial, ST-Ericsson dongles connected over the air to the base station, and the network achieved peak rates of 80 Mbit/s on the downlink and 20 Mbit/s uplink.

"We look forward to leveraging on the pilot to set up a commercial network that will build on a globally standardized eco-system and technology that offers immense potential for a wide spectrum of end-user offerings," Reliance stated in a press release.

In separate mobile broadband news from India today, Ericsson and one of Qualcomm Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM)'s LTE venture entities in the country, Wireless Broadband Business Pvt. Ltd., demonstrated LTE TDD mobility at 2.3GHz in an outdoor environment.

Why this matters

This news is going to be a disappointment for the WiMax camp in India which was hoping against hope that Reliance would decide in its favor, rather than plump for LTE TDD.

Reliance is the only operator that got a pan-India BWA (broadband wireless access) license in the recently concluded auctions. The company's choice is likely to influence the decisions of the other operators who have yet to select a technology for BWA spectrum.

Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Mumbai: BHARTIARTL), Aircel Ltd. , Vodafone Essar , and Tikona Digital Networks Pvt. Ltd. are some of the other winners of BWA spectrum in India. None of the other winners have decided on the technology but Reliance's decision in favor of LTE TDD might result in an LTE wave in the region.

It was quite obvious that Rel will be on LTE with Qualcomm pushing it around, in fact they say it is the reason they participated in the BWA auction :)
