Reliance Gsm Network In Vadodara

Recommended Posts

Can anyone share their experience of using a RGSM connection in Vadodara City Guj.?

I have a RGSM connection since last 1 year but am not using it as the network is bad. Though the network is been improving the strange thing is that I don't get any network in my office which is situated on Rajmahal Road (Palace Road). I am so used to seeing two/three or sometime no towers in my CDMA phone and despite that the call goes through and the voice quality is uncompromised. But with GSM talking with 2/3 network bars really affects the call quality.

The truth is I want a GSM connection and want the freedom to change handsets and while roaming abroad but on the other hand the tariff plans of RCDMA is only available on RGSM. Other GSM providers are charging a bomb compared to Reliance. Their raoming charges are obscene. The fact is that I'm so used to my current bill amount that changing it to let say Vodafone is eaily going to add 300-400 bucks to my monthly outgo !!!!

On top of that I had paid 5K for a premium number for RGSM when I took the connection and thus don't want to ditch the number!

Even on RCOM website in the network coverage area one can see that near my office RGSM has no towers not a single tower on a 3 KM long important road !!!!

The network engineer who visited me recently told me that it will be almost 3 months before towers come up in the vicinity of my office.

I want fellow members to share their network experience in Vadodara City and outskirts to help me decide.

Thanks in advance.

Hi thanks for your reply !!! It seems no one was interested in my post! Like I said I really am in love with RCDMA but I am a Blackberry User and its disheartening to know that the GSM camp gets the best of all new feature loaded phones while I have to pay 50% more for a CDMA Blackberry which dosen't even provide for a WIFI !!!! I was really hoping that the RCDMA qualities get rubbed off on RGSM so that I can still enjoy the value benefits of being with Reliance than anyother operator. But I really am losing my paitience with RGSM. I mean its been more than a year I have the RGSM connection and I am paying Rs. 99 + Tax every month to keep the number and connection alive !!!!!

I wish some of the senior memebers could put some spotlight on the work getting done on RGSM's network and what RCOM intends to do with it i.e. put the network qulaity in parity with Vodafone and other GSM players.

RGSM is a crap network. I don't think it will improve in near future. To retain the number , convert your postpaid to prepaid and hold it till MNP. I did same thing.

If you ask me, get out of the habit of waiting for things to happen. What you are waiting for is not likely to happen very soon. But if you really want to do it, converting to pre-paid with lifetime validity as mentioned by rkburra would be much cheaper.

I'm done with waiting for RGSM to improve and have just got a Docomo card. Will post experiences when I get some time.
