Now they are offering these pack of HSIA(read EVDO) handset also

This makes chepest 3g/evdo plan in india.

also ofeering EVDO data from mobile for handset tethering

It's cheper than photon plus tariff. i.e. 1GB at just 300, compared to photon plus at Rs650.

TATA rocks in EVDO plan, reliance s**ks.

Although EVDO coverage is more in reliance, but still no reached to end customer.

And EVDO speed of reliance is less compared to tata bcoz of of high contention ratio

Practically TATA leads in EVDO, theoretically reliance is winner.

Tata Indicom has raised the usage cap for internet both in prepaid and postpaid :Sorprendido:

Starting from Rs. 5 prepaid daily pack which had 15MB cap (it has 50MB cap now), postpaid packs usage cap have also been doubled  It is now 2GB for Rs. 43 and 5GB for Rs. 94 only.

For details tariff on prepaid, postpaid mobile internet use and HSIA tethered use, see here.

@ Sougata Aren't those 1x data packs with free browsing on Tata Zone alone?

Applicable to EVDO handsets like Sammy Pop, M369, Corby, etc? I am being charged Rs.320 for 1Gb and 50p/Mb beyond cap.

Can cdma operators really detect whether the phone is used as a modem or for browsing in phone itself bcoz in gsm, the operators can't find..@saket, do you use different settings for browsing in mobile and pc?

i had activated Rs5 plan

But i was being chagred for thethering , and using phone as modem.

Not able to check EVDO, bcoz sim was non-omh.

But handset browsing was free upto given limit.

sorry if the question is dumb.. As you've used it, i'm asking you. Tata zone means like wap internet or you can just browse that tata zone website? And also, are there different setting for both? How do you tether your mobile(i mean do you dial from pc or by a tethering app directly from phone)?

And another thing, is it through proxy or socket connection. Try if you could use a skype app..

Activated 43/- pack on my ti postpaid. it gives 2gb of free internet on handset or even thru tethered usage as per TI FAQ.

Will be using it on Palm Pixi on 1x as we dont have EVDO in out town yet. Also, these pack is available for non-evdo. I had to 1st deactivate my HSIA service since I was not able to activate it till EVDO was active (though I was not using it, it was active since I had once put my number on BB8530 & activated BIS for 3 months).

Pixi is good... Especially at the price I got it for (below 3k), I am happy that I will be online..

@rachit,

you can use PHONE as modem with these data pack, but only with 1x spped.

IF u use EVDO(3X) then data usage will be chagred from main balance and not from these pack.

this way these pack are better than GSM 2G GPRS pack.

Bcoz these pack allow you to use EVDO for browsing internet on PHONE ONLY.

GPRS 2G pack gives only, 2G speed, but these data pack gives EVDO(3x speed)

Is there any way to check total data consumed and the remaining balance? We can get the same easily in other telecos by requesting *111#, *123#, etc

now you can check remaining data usage by sending toll free sms.

send sms as DP BAL to 12524.

reply will tell you reaming data available in ur account, but it will not show you validity.

NO other way is available till now.

but this method works, i had tried .

Dear Sougata,

Have a look at the website http://tataindicom.c...ernet-pack.aspx

One important point which has to be noted is TATA Indicom has changed the default tariff and tariff beyond usage cap to 50p/MB from earlier 10p/10KB. A reduction of close to 2000%.

That could be reason for the hike in the tariff.

What Hetal means is that these plans cannot be used for accessing internet through mobile tethering. Big screens(PC/Laprop) and normal keyboards are always user friendly when compared against the largest mobile screens and keypads(available in smartphones).

theay have again hiked data tariff for subsbiber, who have not activated any of these pack.

now deafault rate for docomo 3G/GSM/CDMA is 10p/10KB

Hello evryone

I do not know whom to particularly ask this question.

But whoever has a viewpoint, Kindly oblige. :)

I m using HTC EVO 3D.

i DO NOT need high speed (EVDO) on my handset.

1x is enough fo me..

i just want to know if i port to TATA indicom postpaid/prepaid,

will i be able to get 2gb of data in rs43???

as in mails, weather update, android market, watsapp n all?

though i DO NOT require tethering, is it also available?

Thanx....

Waiting eagerly for anyone to throw some light:)

can i conclude that in Rs. 95 on prepaid in tata indicom cdma, i will get 1x speed on my HTC EVO 3D for 4.5 gb every month irrespective of my use,i.e., open anything on my mobile-market,mails,pushmail, weather update,browsing,fb,etc....

i will not tether it (use as modem)....

a helpful reply is solicited:)

^^^^^^

As an ex-TataCDMA corporate customer, I request our friends NOT to expect miracle from TataCDMA... They now don't have quality staffs, too many conditions apply, switching off towers in some places, NOT showing interest in CDMA network growth, foreign handset issues (incl AKey) are like pain in wrong place... This is from my experience... Some plans are for 1x only even if specified as for EVDO and that too for wap browsing only and complicated apn settings (with proxy) and may NOT be used for tethering...

Further TataCDMA is NOT taking care of the network and just closes the complaint of network congestion/call drops issues without taking a single useful step... All they are targetting is GSM only...

They have GSM coverage in all Villages. but NO CDMA. They are NOT promoting CDMA. I am really feeling bad since I have ported my number to TATA CDMA. It should have been GSM.

Yes

Yes, the trick is to use only Wifi tethering. I've found wifi tethering does not deduct from main balance, only internet pack is used.

Yes, these packs get auto-renewed.

But if you connect your phone to pc/laptop u will be charged at a different rate and this pack will not be applicable for usage on laptop/pc

Wifi tethering is the trick.

Do not know about postpaid, but in prepaid, Rs. 94 recharge for 4 GB works like a charm, used on laptop through WiFi tethering via unlocked MTS MTag 3.1.
