In Punjab I think Reliance CDMA network is maintained by Alcatel & ZTE. Alcatel is providing EVDO but ZTE is not providing EVDOin any of areas handled by it.

Jalandhar & Hoshiarpur are handled by ZTE so no EVDO.

ZTE is also handing TATA in Jalandhar, EVDO service of TATA in available there.

I don't know why Reliance is not providing EVDO services in Jalandhar & Hoshiarpur City. Both have very good demand for EVDO, a good nnumber of Broadband users as its the NRI belt.

Recently WI5 has alsolaunched services in Hoshiarpur.

For those who are not aware, Shahjahanpur is among the least developed districts of UP. That area stinks even when seen with lower standards of Ulta Pradesh (UP).

Number of people in that district who are 12th class pass can't be above 10% of the total population. So number of EVDO users in that district will be very small. Targeting such areas first for premium services is a reason that RCOM's profits are going down and debt is increasing every quarter since last few years.

Reliance EVDO expansion is really breath-taking.

http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/internet/wireless_internet_coverage.html

Within a month or two, it has moved from 67 to 90 cities/towns.

Soon they'll hit a century.

Hope we subscribers may get some century GB free data offer.

TATA looks like not interested in EVDO since they're completely focussed on HSDPA.

MTS which was sprinting till a month ago started dosing off. May be they're get caught in the license cancellation issues on the circles where they've not even started CDMA 1x.

RCOM Net Connect Plus EVDO Services Now Available In 100 Cities

Reliance Communications (RCOM) today announced the launch of its high speed wireless Internet EVDO service, “Netconnect Plus’’ in its 100th city Hassan in Karnataka telecom circle.

Reliance is embarking on the largest and most aggressive Pricing and roll-out of a broadband internet service in India, with coverage extending to more than 150 towns.

The EVDO device is priced at Rs. 2299 and will offer 10 GB free data usage for the first month of activation. Netconnect Plus has a downlink speed of upto 3.1 Mbps and a separate uplink speed of upto 1.8 Mbps, offering the fastest speeds in wireless broadband.

This makes Netconnect Plus best suited for video streaming, video surveillance, rich media content & superior Internet browsing.

Announcing the launch in Hassan, Mr. Swaminathan Hub Head Karnataka, Reliance Communications said, “The launch of Netconnect Plus is an important milestone for Reliance and will act as a catalyst in the government’s effort to drive broadband penetration in India. Reliance Netconnect Plus will significantly enhance the broadband coverage in India and make broadband Internet available to customers in many areas and localities that have been waiting for years to be broadband enabled”.

Kudos to Reliance for achieving this wonderful feat !!!

Reliance is the first private operator to reach the coveted milestone of 100 in 3G coverage considering players on both fronts( HSDPA and EVDO).

I feel both TATA and MTS will get ignited and catch up with Reliance in near term.

Let us wish all the best for Reliance to reach the same milestone in GSM-3G(HSDPA) in quick time when they roll-out their HSDPA n/w.

Hear from reliance people,

They will build more strong EVDO network in those circle where they didn't have 3g/HSDPA license.

If true, The move is clearly on the expected lines....

Then, we can expect USB modems from Reliance which supports both HSDPA & EVDO on the same hardware.

Is it available in Thrissur Dist, kerala? I have checked and the coverage is only for Town area. Villages are not covered. This is the descrimination to villagers. Even they are not providing good coverage of CDMA network in our Village.
