For individuals, bulk SMS would be above 10 per day, while for companies it could be 100 or more.

what does this mean? only 10 SMS allowed for individuals for 3 days?

By the time the ban is implemented by Telecom Companies, It will be long over!!!

Remember the experience with Do Not Call Registry. In india most of the bans are on paper only.

Here is a message sent by a bulk SMS provider regarding the temporary stoppage:

We would like to bring to your notice that Central Govt of India has issued a directive to stop all Bulk Messaging activity temporarily ahead of "AYODYA VERDICT". Adhering to the same Smsmeon has Stopped Message Delivery starting from 1 AM today due to which you will not be able to send SMS Smsmeon will resume its message delivery as soon as telecom operators open delivery from their end and you will be notified of the same. We regret the inconvenice.

Ayodhya verdict has been deferred to next week today though

Ban Extended till Sept 29.

But why extend it? Instead they can postpone the ban from say Sept 26 to Sept 29 or so....

Good joke, its the ban by our network for years... some times by technical mistake the msges reach the customer.

Not getting my daily installment of news and stuff from GOOGLE SMS :( by the way they said individuals who send more than 10 sms/day will be under scrutiny. Wish them a hell of a time!

Total redundant exercise!

There should be ban on promotional SMSs prefixed by TM / TD/ BV etc sent by operators themselves which override DND registration.
