Samsung Mpower TV S239

Recommended Posts

As I needed a new phone I visited local shop. There I found Samsung Handset called Samsung Mpower TV S239 Price was for Rs.5000. Features can be found here

Link

From first impression it looked nice when I took in my hand. Screen is bigger than Metro TV. However I don't why its price is less than Metro TV which if Rs.5800

If anybody has handset please share info.

I searched the forum but I could not found information about this handset. So posting here

^^Thanks for Reply,

It will help if you elaborate on this.

Is it due the fact that it is based on BREW ?

I thought it is good to have bigger screen , Metro TV looks small.

Mpower TV S239 is a new OMH handset from Samsung. eBay is selling it for Rs. 5600/- don't know anything about its performance. I think it will be a good handset like Guru B559. I expect some good reviews soon from our friends. I am thanking Samsung company for providing one more OMH handset, they are hearing our plea for good CDMA handsets. I think if they not introduced the OMH handsets, all the colours of the CDMA will be etiolated (in India).

hey.. i had the same doubt i asked the shopkeeper itself & he said its because it is a new release so it costs less..

may be the Metro TV handset was costlier when it was bought initially by the shopkeeper so obviously he will sell accordingly.. well i am not very sure but this is my personal view.

In fact s239 has bigger screen, call recording feature which is not available in metro and also 16 GB expandable.. and it looks better than metro. On the other hand, s239 has 1.3mp and metro has 2.0mp camera.. and mostly rest all the features are same.. so its upto you to decide which one to buy. Hope this helped.. good luck..!

It's perplexing for me to understand why Samsung still releases EVDO Rev.0 phone when other makers(LG(510),RIM(tour),ZTE(MTS-Alive),Fly(MTS-Ivory),Micromax(MTS-Buzz)) release Rev. A phones in the market.

MTS-Buzz is ZTE not Micromax and 1x only

MTS-Alive is Micromax and EVDO Rev A

Good things about this phone:

i) Screen 6cm.

2) Form factor is also good.

3) OS is fast

4) Network reception is also good( better than I used to get on my 6275 at home,no call has dropped till)

5) call quality is also fine. ( May not be upto Nokia 6275)

6) supports 16GB card

7) SMS capacity is 2000 ( Way better than 90 in case of Nokia 6275)

8) Cheapest EVDO phone till now, getting nice speed while browsing on in built Polaris

9) Battery seems to be nice after 2hr calling , 40 mins on net and around 50 sms

Now things I didn't like

1) Java support is there but when I installed Opera mini, bolt but they are not able to connect to net.

So basically I will have to find apps which can be supported on this phone.

This could be due do BREW.

2) No 3.5 mm jack for headphones

Impressing size of Screen (very big)

Call/voice quality very good.

Mp3 player sounds cool

Cheapest EVDO phone

16GB memory support(highest in class.)

Faster Internet with EVDO and tata indicom. (download speed of 200KB/s)
