Go ahead with the Nokia PC Suite Version 6.6 and install it on Win XP SP2, no issues with that. You can download MobiMB from www.mobimb.com. With this software you can install .Jar file (Games and application in your Nokia 6255.

As I mentioned this case is not available in Indian market so far (to my knowledge) in US markets it is costing around $5-$6 plus shipping thru ebay. There are 2-3 variants with different materials and colors as well.

Goto www.ebay.com under US region then type 'Nokia 6255 Case' you can see plenty of results.

I hope Indian market will also be floaded with 6255 cases sooner.

I hasd this problem in the first few days, used to occur when a lot of SMS used to arrive togethre. Idisabled the delivery report and all has been fine ever since then!

Never faced again. Someone mentioned that it occurs when phone uses excessive power for certain tasks,

Are u facing this when u do a particular thing or does it happen at random?

Well, guys, there is definately a problem in Nokia 6255. Those people who are not facing the problem of restarting are the lucky ones, but sooner or later they will face it.

Why!!

Because when a (similar) problem is faced by different individuals at different location, with a common mobile -- means there is a definate a problem. This is deductive logic.

What can be the problem?

When people around the world are not facing the problem, and only we are facing the problem, means

1. The particular series of Handset launched in India is having a problem or

2. The combination of reliance service and 6255 is forming an unique combination which is trigerring the problem.

Nokia people have replaed my phone twice for the "same problem". The third handset I have started using only since 2 days. Lets see when I start facing this problem again.

meanwhile I had also approached the consumer forum. The consumer forum "VOICE" has instructed Nokia to refund my full money, with 18% interest. I suggest all users who are facing the restart problem to first lodge an written complaint to Nokia India pvt Ltd - delhi. Once this is done you can then approach the consumer forum for compensation.

There is a recent ruling by Consumer court in this. The South Mumbai District Consumer Forum and asked Galiakotwala Technologies, a cell phone dealer to pay compensation for selling a defective instrument.

Anyone wanting more information, please email me so that I can send you more details.

Well its good that you have got your phone replaced and you will be getting the refund.

As far as this problem is concerned, I already told that i faced this befre but now its ok, so it looks like a software bug to me.

As far as your knowledge about this phone goes I must say its not upto the mark.

The phone was launched in New Zealand in Jun rhis year and the people there faced a similar problem for a couple of months and then it was solved by a software fix.

take a look at the site geekzone.co.nz

search for topics on 6255 and you will get the results!

Dear Tanveer,

Thanks for more information.

So What I have understood from your post, is that NOKIA 6255 model is having some so called technical/software bug which is universal, which makes the phone to restart. It is solved by some software upgrade.

My further queries on this

1. If this is correct, why this is not mention on Nokia website.

2. Can a software bug cause malfunction of such a big nature that Nokia has only solution but to replace the phone?

3. Why nokia customer care people are not aware of this? or are they aware but are fooling people?

Apart from newzealand, are you (someone else on list) aware of other countries facing the same problem? More information on this subject will be of a great help.

well

1. Do u advertise bugs of a product u are selling ?

2. Yes, because 90% of the guys employed in a Nokia Priority point are NOT MOBILE ENGINEERS / Specialists in Mobile softwares. they are trained for hardware fiddlings. Since they are not sure about it, and since they can service the phone (or maybe overwrite the firmware) they take it with the promise of replacing the phone.

3. They might be aware ... but refer point 2.

The same problem exists on some other models also (even on one GSM model of Nokia... which I saw with some employee in my new office ... where his mobile was switched off during the conference, automatically switched on TWICE when a call came..)

Cheers

Ashok

PS : I am sure u are not into development / research jain bhai... coz if u were, u would just leave the bugs around and proceed till a patch comes up :P this is what technology has made us... hehehehe ;)

Dear friends

so you mean to say, that we pay hefty price to buy a product, and accept that the product can be faulty, it should be your luck - whether you get a good product or a bad one, and in case you unfortunately get an bad product, keep sulking at home, blame your destiny, and be at mercy of company that they repair the product. :)

Well my der friends, times are changing. Stand up for your rights. Dont just let you get fooled by multinationals.

They have given you 2 replacements, i believe, still if it does not work then sorry to say its your hard luck. You must see the positive side, the company is standing by you and giving you replacements.

Thanks.

Nokia seems to have problems with restarting. My Nokia 6600 used to have this problem but I had to literally hand-fight with them before replacing the same. Technicians in Bangalore could not resolve the problem after 3 months of holding my phone. Quality of Nokia phones is e major concern. I do own 6255, so far I have not come across this problem.

This is absolutely ridiculous ...it matters not whether 10,000 replacements were given or not ...the idea is to get ONE piece that works as its expected to! In fact the poor guy as been harassed because he mustve had to keep treakking to the service centre to get replacements ...and not to mention been without a phone meanwhile!

I've seen in the Nokia Website features of 6255 this mobile can be used to send and receive e-mails. This feature is listed different from MMS. Has anybody tried this feature or any information whether Reliance is going to support this feature?

Note :: This feature should not to be confused with e-mail feature of MMS. These 2 are different.

Dudes,

Do you know about any decent media player that we can download for this phone? Something that has better controls like a playlist, ff, rw etc etc. I know that real media runs on series 60 phones. Do we have something similar for this one?
