Sprint Samsung Epic 4G - The Beast Is Here!

Recommended Posts

Is there anyway to improve the native gps applications of Epic?

When I use Fb, G+, Latitude Checkins they all report in correct location.. upto 20Kms incorrect locations

I have tried only GPS, only Data, only WiFi and combinations theirwith.. however no improvement

However when I use foursquare the location is almost spot on..

How is this possible?

Any suggestions how to make others accurate?

this problem has got nothing to do with ur phone; all rworld usernames have been blocked permanently by reliance since last 2 days; u will have to configure ur mdn as username and pw and take appropriate data plan; dont ask me how; there are people on the forum doing it for a fee; search them and contact them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

more than two week i am waiting for the INTERNET on my epic. because of your above post i got my internet working on my mobile.

i enter my mobile no in username field in ##3282# then edit. username. and then in setting enable 3G.

i test speed with speednet app. it showing DL 103kbps and UL 130kbps. 198 evdo plan enable on my mobile no.

now please tell how do i know i am on 1x or EVDO. because this will affect my reliance mobile billing. i do now want huge bill from reliance.

Thank a lot again.

Longlive rimweb.

The internet plan you are subscribed to is independent of 1x or EVDO. The plan just limit the usage and not whether you are using it via EVDO or 1x.

Second, one of the check to know whether you are in 1x or EVDO is to check the ping time on speedtest app, if its more than 500, it can be assumed that you are not using EVDO.

yes i am on 1x as my ping more than 1103ms

thank you phonegeek for reply.

not bad at least i can check my mails on move.

Additional Notes:

* Making EVDO work on imported handset requires programming the handset with necessary HSD PRL's, HSD username and password in addition to the handset parameters being registered in Reliance Servers. That is outside the scope of this initiative. You may contact your handset seller for necessary assistance to register EVDO parameters at Reliance and configure in your handset if your handset's MEID/ESN is registered with Reliance.

for evdo on my mobile i need to contact my seller (sadikk)

Hi,

My epic 4g got drenched in rain. I came home and dried the mobile and kept it soaked in bowl full of dry rice.

AFter that when i started the mobile, it went in download mode and back screen was red in color. It didnt got detected by the odin.

After that I disassembled the mobile and cleaned all the parts. I saw some salt formation on a chip. Cleaned that chip properly and reassembled everything. Still the mobile doesnt get detected on the pc.

Video is available at youtu.be/72LxBd54YIk

Please, can anybody help me on this.

Thanks

100++ Thank a lot Hetal for helping EVDO internet on EPIC.

Using following post.

http://mobile5.in/fo...-optional-evdo/

Stuck in send spc. "Send your SPC (Default 000000) to phone"

1. click on SPC(Under security tab)

2. Enter spc code (Default 000000) (above the "read" and "spc" button)

3. click on SPC button.

then change diagnosis mode modem to USb again. switch off phone and restart.

enable 3g in mobile internet in wireless setting.

check with speedtest.net

Multiple Issues with firmware update 2.3.4

  1. After upgrading GPS has stopped working completely
  2. Phone signal seems to drop (No Signal) every now and then. Very irritating when it happens during a call
  3. Occasionally, the phone shuts down and restarts

Any help would be highly useful. With 2.3.5 being released, will the latest version get downloaded onto my phone directly?

Here is a simple solution to fix GPS issue on Samsung Epic 4G:

1. Enter *#1472365# in the dialer

(For ECLAIR: * # * # 1 4 7 2 3 6 5 # * # * For FROYO: * # * # 3 2 1 4 7 8 9 6 5 0 # * # *)

2. Tap Setup, select Position Mode, select Starting Mode

3. Change the option from "Hot Start" to "Cold Start"

Also I found using GPS with WiFi somehow delays the fix; Using it on data hastens it.

Rest settings should be MSBased and Navigation.

Also for improved and immediate GPS fix download the GPS Test application. Helps a lot.

Updated (21-12-2010)

PROPER GPS FIX FOR THIS ROM (DI18)

Go to some open to sky place

open dialer -> dial -> *#1472365#

this will pop up menu

1. go to setup -> Position Mode -> Starting mode -> set it to cold start

epic4ggps.jpg

2. download gps status & tool from market

3. it will show up some satellite.

4. now again go to Dialer -> dial -> *#1472365#

5. this time do warm start and go to same app gps tools -> this will too show some satellite

6. Now again go to dialer -> dial -> *#1472365#

7. this time do hot start and go to same gps tool app -> this time it will show more satellite.

8. wait for all satellite to lock -> b4 locking satellite will blink in and out

9. once gps fixed enjoy fast gps on this rom; also use this fix if you are migration to DK28 (Froyo) rom afterwards and enjoy gps locking
