MTNL Launches Number Retention Facility On Fixed Line

In an attempt to boost its Corporate Fixed Line services, Mumbai’s largest Broadband and Land line service provider today announced the launch of India’s first “Number Retention Facility” (Local number portability with in the operator) for its Land-line/Fixed Line customers in Mumbai telecom circle.

With the launch of this “Number Retention Facility”, now MTNL Mumbai ’s Fixed Line subscribers can retain their existing landlines number in case of shifting of their land line phone from one telephone exchange area to other telehone exchange area, anywhere in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Panvel and Uran MTNL Fixedline service area.The subscriber also get two telephone numbers (one existing and one new) on his same landline phone.

This unique facility ensure continue receiving calls on new land line number (after shifting in other exchange) if old number is called. It provides no hassle of change of land line number when any one shift their offices or residence out of certain telephone exchanges in Mumbai circle. Whats more one can get two contact number on same land-line phone too.

This service will cost Rs. 50 per month as and add-on rental. For more details one can call 1500 (toll free from MTNL) or 022-22221500 from any other network phone.

But Chirag, I think TATA is giving this facility for FWP's (Fixed Wireless Phone). But MTNL is providing for Fixe Wireline Phones. :)
