Motorola Glam, First Android Dual Sim GSM+CDMA, With 3G and EVDO Coming to India Next Week

Motorola-Glam-1.jpg

Motorola's Glam, which is available in China as XT800 ZHISHANG, offers 3G enabled dual (GSM+CDMA) SIM device. The phone runs on Android 2.2 and has an HDMI port, Wifi, 5 mega pixel auto focus camera and A-GPS. It is the first 3G dual SIM mobile in India.

Motorola Glam is expected to be launched in India next week. It will be the first 3G capable dual SIM Android phone in the market. The phone is most likely to feature Android 2.2 Froyo, although it currently runs on version 2.1 in China and Korea. Glam will also be the first dual SIM phone with 3G capability to run on both CDMA and GSM networks.

For the consumer it will offer an excellent choice of opting for GSM technology for voice and CDMA for cheaper high speed data access. The phone has a decent specification list with an HDMI port, Wifi, Bluetooth along with 3G, GSM and CDMA connectivity. Motorola Glam has a 3.7 inch landscape touch display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels.

The device has built-in GPS navigation and most likely comes with Google Maps. Glam supports viewing and editing of popular document formats including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF. It also has an A4 paper optical-character recognition software combined with translation features. The phone has a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, autofocus and digital zoom.

Video can be watched on an HDTV by connecting the phone to the TV using its HDMI (720p) output. A 3.5 mm jack for a headphone has been provided, but ear pieces need to be bought in addition to the phone. Motorola claims that the Glam lasts for approximately 5.7 hours of talk time or 4 days on standby on a full charge of its 1390 mAh battery. The phone is light weight at 137 grams and measuring 120 x 61.8 x 11.4 mm, it is pretty sleek as well.

2G Network : GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900

CDMA/EVDO Rev A 800/1900

So its 2G GSM and 3G CDMA

Similar non-android products are also available in the market.

Still waiting for handset that would give 3G GSM and CDMA 1x (or EVDO)

The original XT800 was launched long back in China in January 2010 on China Telecom...The Specifications posted by Karthik is of this phone from GSM Arena...The original one was on Android 2.1

Now there is an upgraded version of XT800 has been launched named XT800+ also on China Telecom in December 2010. Here are the specs from Official Sites of China Telecom and Motorola..

China Telecom http://www.hicdma.co...ail_301019.html Motorola China http://www.motorola....0plus-CN-ZH.alt

It has 1 Ghz Processor, More RAM, Different Finish, CDMA DORA support, Android 2.2.

Since the article in the first post also mentions Android 2.2, It may be that this upgraded version is coming to India...

But Still Who can be sure of Motorola's ways? ....So Friends hang on tight till then...

All the specifications posted leads to one conclusion that it's not a HSDPA phone but rather 2G-CDMA/GSM 3G-EVDO only.

It's just similar to

It's a real disappointment.

@me_saket, it cannot challenge Bold 9650 since 9650 is fully dual mode. 2G-CDMA/GSM 3G-EVDO/HSDPA

But, 9650 can hold only one SIM/RUIM at a time either CDMA or GSM but not both.
