Andi-One universal remote runs Android 2.1, does more than change channels

Source

Like many universal remote controls, the Andi-One boasts compatibility with thousands of devices; unlike most, however, it runs on Android 2.1. This 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen clicker can check email, browse the web, control your HTPC's mouse and keyboard, run over 100,000 Android apps, act as a VoIP phone, and even kick movies directly to your TV through an HDMI enabled charging cradle. It doesn't just control your entertainment devices -- it is one. For the first time ever, your remote control is giving you the choice between changing the channel, and playing Angry Birds -- if that's not innovation, we don't know what is. She's available now for $350 -- a bargain to some, but not exactly compelling for those who already own a smartphone.

Capta is a Multipurpose Phone-Neutral Accessory That Works As a Tripod Mount and a Kick Stand

More Details, Back The Project Here >> http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1689824368/capta-stick-it-lean-it-wrap-it-attach-it

Now, here's probably the most exciting Kickstarter project we've ever seen – Capta. What hides behind this name is a tiny little gadget that looks like the multipurpose wonder of accessories – a universal tripod mount, a stand and an accessory to attach your phone in your car and use it as a GPS.

Just as you would guess from the name, this device allows you to better capture pictures on your cell phone. What makes it unique, though, is that it's not limited just to the iPhone 4S or any other phone for that matter so unlike most other accessories that you'd have to throw away whenever a newer device arrives, Capta is different with its promise of longevity.

It's also easily pocketable and made out of stylish anodized aluminum which is also practical as its pretty resistant to scratches. The real magic however is in the proprietary mix of polyurethane materials that wondrously allow you to snap your handset to Capta. This opens a myriad of possibilities, but in order for you to be truly free to experiment, the designers from Unique Design making Capta, have put the device through a series of tests among which:

  • proving that an iPhone can hang vertically on Capta for three days,
  • putting a phone through a “Ferris wheel” test
  • trying to snap a number of phones from a BlackBerry to Androids to feature phones.

The end result? This looks amazingly durable and all it takes for it to remain usable is a rinse with water every once in a while. Pledge $25 or more and you'll get your very own Capta

Great thread Idea...Nobody thought of it before...Let's find out hidden gems..

But a request...Don't Restrict the thread for Androids only..Let it be for Any Phone..May be change the topic title

One of my Relative..30 Year Old...Is in Vegetative State since last 18 months after suffering a heart attack..bed ridden..no speech..no physical response to voice commands..eyes open, moving ..Can't know whether he can see! Only option to measure any progress whether brain is responding internally to stimuli around is to transport him to hospital from home every time and do an EEG OR MRI Test..Costly..Incovenient..And patients generally do not respond to unknown people..So test results not reliable..

This phone accessory and App which work with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad & Just for $ 99, can be a great help in measuring his brain activity at various points of time daily with different stimuli like music, chit chat by near & dear ones..Convenient, Comfortable and most important..Family members get some strength to cope with this unbearable trauma with glimmers of hope..

XWAVE-See Your Mind in Action

What is the XWave?

The XWave is the first consumer product priced under $100 which can sense and detect human brainwaves, interpret them and connect it to everyday technology. Brainwave detection and research has been proven for decades and is rooted in medical science. The XWave makes this proven patented technology available at the consumer level for the first time.

Before XWave

$45k medical grade

30 minutes to install ,Requires trained technicians, Not practical for everyday use

XWave

with_xwave.png

$99 consumer grade,10 seconds to install, User friendly, Plug and play

What does it do?

In short, your brain is an organ which communicates through electricity with billions of brain cells called "neurons." These pulses or rhythms of electricity can be detected at the surface of the skin with a small antenna. Before XWave, these signals were confusing lines which needed to be interpreted by trained technicians.

Before Xwave

eeg_bands.png

Brainwaves needed to be analyzed manually with trained technicians.

After Xwave

Brainwave detection simplified into: Attention (0-100%) Meditation (0-100%)

Lightpad Turns Your Phone Into A Laptop And Projector

Source

2011121508550956.jpg2011121513300233.jpg2011121508552522.jpg

QP Optoelectronics recently showcased their new technology called the LightPad at the recently concluded CES 2012. This patent pending technology is an ideal companion device to extend the functionality and user interface of smartphones, providing the user with expanded utility via the built-in 11-inch high contrast rear projection screen, which provides up to a 60-inch screen in front projection mode, along with a full-size keyboard. The resolution is 854 x 480 pixels.

When connected with a smartphone, the LightPad provides virtually all functions of a notebook computer for an individual. This is owing to the use of a pico-projector. The high gain and high contrast rear projection screen provides for a high quality display. It has got a thin form factor and is light weight – which potentially make for the key factors for a portable accessory device.

However it’s not just limited to a notebook-sized display. The LightPad can produce up to a 60-inch display in front projection mode with its super short focal length projection lens. It can be used as a big screen display/projector for meeting presentations, video/TV viewing, and big screen gaming. The first version is likely to be launched in G1 2012 and the second version in G2 2013.

Connectivity to all smartphone platforms with HDMI or MHL output (iOS, Android, Win, Blackberry) are supported.

Don't you backup to your Google account?

I think there is an option in the default contacts app to backup your contacts to sd card

SD cards are not reliable. Better back up contacts on cloud. That way you can retain the contacts even of you loose your phone(along with the sd card)

Zmart Remote Lets You control Pretty Much Anything With Your Phone

Viatek is launching a new hardware and software combination that can act as a universal remote for a wide variety of devices, using your phone as the controller. The basic premise of Zmart Remote is that you use a combination of an Android (or iOS) app and a hardware dongle that plugs into your phone's headphone jack to program and control most anything around your house. In the same way most high-end universal remotes work, Zmart Remote has a configuration utility that lets you control TVs, Blu-ray players, DVRs and many more by entering the proper codes and settings for each. For other devices that aren't usually controlled remotely -- like light switches, fans and coffee makers -- Viatek makes a Zmart Switch to interface with them directly.

zmart-remote.jpg

Viatek says that its software can currently interface with some 200,000 products from 95-percent of consumer electronic brands in the category. The app is free, but doesn't do much unless you purchase the accessory dongle, which is $19.99. At the fraction of the price of a good universal remote, it could be worth a look.

And I am sorry that I asked this question in the wrong thread. I thought this is "Must Have Android Apps" thread (http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/33813-must-have-android-apps-for-your-smartphone-part-ii/). Later on realized it is in not correct.

Mods, if possible, please move it in appropriate thread,
