Unable To Use Email Clients Like Yahoo & Gmail On Palm Pixi Plus

Recommended Posts

Hi all

This is my very first post on rimweb though I have been silently following the relevent posts on a regular basis since the last one year as a guest.I really admire the huge knowledge bank available on this forum.Kudos to the people who started this forum.

Very recently I bought a Palm Pixi Plus CDMA phone to be used on Reliance network from M/s cellwala.Again tahnks to the forum which inspired my decision to buy this wonderful phone. The features are mind boggling as this is my first ever smart phone. The most used feature next to making & receiving voice calls for me is browsing & email.I'm able to browse using the phone's inbuilt browser but unable to receive or sent emails via yahoo & gmail.I tried to configure my email in yahoo & gmail both automatically and manually. But am unable to send or receive mails.

In the manual process in case of yahoo mail the following server settings were used

Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 465)

Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 995)

In case of gmail the following server settings were used

Google Gmail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.gmail.com (SSL enabled, port 995)

Google Gmail Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.gmail.com (TLS enabled, port 587)

After configuration & clicking on sign up I get an error message which reads something like " your incoming server settings are not ok.Try change the settings"

Kindly let me know if I'm doing something wrong or there are some more settings which need to be done?

Thanks for patiently reading my long mail.

No need to enter email settings manually in Pixi. Palm Synergy takes care of automatic setup. What error message did you receive when you tried to configure automatically?

Delete all the accounts you entered.. When you say automatically, i hope you are following this procedure..

Auto Setup

1. From the Home screen, touch the email icon.

2. Enter the email address, touch the password field, enter the password then touch Sign In.

>Alternatively, touch Add An Account (to add additional accounts), enter the required information then touch Sign In.

>If the login screen or Add An Account is not available,

1.Touch Email > Preferences & Accounts.

2. Touch Add An Account.

If this does not work, it may be a port issue.. What Data Plan are you on? Is it an RWorld Proxy based Plan?

Rajan ji

Thanks for the detailed reply to my query along with the screenshots. It was very impressive.

I followed what has been mentioned in ur reply to the hilt. After entering my email ID both for Yahoo & Gmail am getting the below mentioned message on my phone

unable to connect to the mail server.Try again later.

The same message I got yesterday.Tried a number of times every hour, changed my location and tried and trying since morning today in my office which is quite far from my home.I'm getting the same issue.

I can see the 1x data symbol on my phone getting bright & dim continously while the email is signing in.Can this be a problem?

But you mentioned that you are able to surf using the phone browser. So Data Connectivity can't be the issue. Port issue because of RWorld Proxy based data plan can be the plausible reason..
