Skype 2.1 For Android Enables Video On Majority Of Android Devices

Recommended Posts

I have tried by installing updates from Market, the video quality is superb and like PC. Far better than g talk video quality what we get in ginger bred leak for Samsung Epic. Best thing is it is official release and root is not necessary..

For more info--

We promised to add support for additional handsets when we launched our new Skype for Android app with video a couple of weeks ago. Today we are pleased to announce that with the release of Skype 2.1 for Android, we are rolling out video support for an additional 17 of the most popular Android devices. Download the updated Skype for Android app from the Android Market or Skype.com/m using your Android phone's browser or just scan the QR code below.

The list of Android devices we've added Skype video support for include:http://blogs.skype.com/en/2011/08/skype_21_for_android.html

The worst part of Skype on mobile is that it is not supported through Wifi internet :'(

It's too costly to use on mobile. :NOTriste:

I tried to use the stock Skype application of Verizon which prompts a dialog box to put off wifi. I tried Skype from market, when I try to sign in, it asks me to install it again. After fresh installation, it repeats the same message : Please re-install Skype.

How to fix. Please guide @ Rajan Mehta, @ Sumit Verma :help:

Verizon does not allow in US Skype to be used through WiFi. That's why it's built in version of Skype won't work. Uninstall that version. Then install the Market version. May be since you're not rooted, the market version is trying to work on top of Verizon version and giving error. If you're unable to remove verizon version, then you'll have to be rooted to do so.

Thanks.

That must be the fix. I'll try after rooting.

For Skype, Epic is advantageous over Fascinate, because it has front camera.
