Accessories Advise Needed For My Laptop

Recommended Posts

First of all Thanks to abhi.r, rajanmehta and VA who helped regarding my HDD partition issue . Yea i partitioned my HDD into 2 drives.

I have some more questions please help me

Some times my laptop is gets too hot, my friend advised me to go for a cooling pad to solve heating issues but when i contacted DELL care they informed me that because of the configuration it does gets heat and also assured me that there will not be any problem cos the laptop is designed to withstand the heat and generally it's not necessary to go for cooling pad.

My configuration is

Dell XPS 15 Model

Specifications are

2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2410M processor 2.30 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz

6GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (1 x 2GB + 1 x 4GB)

500GB 7200RPM Hard Drive

15.6" (39.6cm) HD (1366x768) WLED display with TrueLife

1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M graphics with Optimus

http://configure.ap.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=u540402in8&c=in&l=en&s=dhs&cs=indhs1&model_id=xps-l502x

what will you advise me shall i buy cooling pad or not? if yes which company and model shall i go for? My laptop model is DELL XPS L502X

Are cooling pads( arrangement of fans) different for different laptop models??

Please specify me any good company and any particular model for cooling pad also would appreciate if any online deal for cooling pads.

and also

suggest me a good BACK PACK ( any online deal) for my laptop, should be spacious for laptop , Power supply cord and cooling pad ( if necessary)

and finally about antivirus

I have 30 days version of McAfee which will expire soon.

Mine is original windows so , shall i use windows defender ( firewall) and Microsoft essentials( antivirus) are they really good . I make online transactions too are they secure or shall i go for other antivirus , anti spyware and firewall advise me any good ones.

Thanks in advance

Let me share what I did on my Dell mini. I removed McAfee completely as the first thing. I don't use any antivirus. I don't click on any unusual and unreliable links. I use OpenDNS that has been immensely helpful in filtering spam sites. I am concerned more about the speed (after security). So, I reformat it once in every 12 to 18 months that also throw away any junk things out there in registry, etc.

But, for someone who is new to all these, I would recommend Microsoft Essentials that works fast and integrates elegantly with Windows. Though it is free, I never personally underestimated it's effectiveness.

I use COMODO internet security, anti virus and firewall combined. Recommend it to friends too, very easy to set up and free upgrades.

Well Heating of Laptop wont do any damage, but when the CPU gets heated, their speed slows down. They are designed that way to save CPU from damages caused by over heating.

So cooler your laptop is ... better it will perform.

Antivirus... honestly, all your antivirus do is delete softwares like CDMA Workshop from your computer.. lol

Viruses are way more smart than antivirus. If your system gets infected, i dont find any other solution than to format the HDD

But you can install any for the peace of mind.

I use Windows Defender (Free) + Norton Antivirus (3k+ Days subscription :D )
