@kshah don't ever think of Ertiga. Please check the comfort in last two rows and then buy. I felt it very cramped car and as if last row is forced in it.

Thanks for the suggestion Sumit but I am not too keen on getting a SUV/ MPV/ MUV. Besides I want to keep the budget under 10lac.

In 10L sedans, Vento is the best diesel. Same clone is Rapid. Nissan Sunny is built to a cost vehicle and my least choice amongst the three.

Dec Sales - Vento 1975, Rapid 1890, Sunny 1517

There are some great December deals still going on on the Rapid. Service quality of Skoda is improving (me being a Skoda owner now) and VW and Nissan are no better in service.

@Sumit - EcoSport is a over rated product. Great styling but less substance. A 1L engine may be frugal but as they say "there's no replacement for displacement". Same like Duster. Both are built to a cost and need a 2L heart.

@tanveer ecosport is not going to have a price tag of 12 Lacs.

it is a sub 4 meter vehicle and will be priced similar to duster.

A tough choice it was to get a hatchback between wagonR,i10,beat,spark,uva and brio. Finally with looking every car and available deals against exchanging my 8 years old indica, brought hyundai i10,magna, delivery after kamurta ends on 16th Jan,grey shade.

@ Dheeraj Ji, I will second your suggestion for vento.. been 2 years now.... its the best thing I have driven at that price tag.

no turbo lags, the fear of high maintenance, I dont really see that.. quite spacious ( well dont compare it with superb :P )

for the Ecosport... I would rather wait for a test drive before saying anything...

I like fords since the age of escort... then Ikon... then Endeavour, Fiesta, Endeavour and once again, Endeavour.... Ford built is as tough as the germans unlike Hyundai or Honda or even Toyota for that sake..

Fortuner is comfortable but I wont even like to compare it with Endeavour in terms of driving pleasure..

i10 offers an ancient 3+1 AT box, compared to 4+1 from H!. The brand name and H! A.S.S all are plus plus anytime. And not to forget the dubious FE claims by hyundai. Hyundai are not even offering an extended warranty on it, shows how much they trust this car.

If you want a car with futuristik looks + hondas relaibiliy, Brio is the way forward.

We bought Nissan Sunny Diesel 4 months ago after comparing all Maruti Sx4, Dezire, VW Vento, Toyota. Sunny has amazing mileage (19+ on NH), Great turbo, Huge boot space and does not sound like a Diesel car while VW and all Maruti's do.

is that surprising? Don't most of these diesel cars have mileage in that range?

It has the most effective and efficient climate Automatic control AC (imho). Set it @ 22 and forget it. 19+ with AC and average speed of 70 on Agra - Delhi highway NH2. and this road is famous for too much traffic.

Yesterday night while returning from Delhi, I set it at 23 and it was giving hot Air (Auto mode) on legs at its own, while cabin temperature was very well maintained at 23.

Since I have used Petrol cars only, the figure 19+ with AC on is a surprise for me...

@dhiraj - I would agree with you that vw abs skoda being European brands will have more finess and better finish. They also have a better, powerful and peppier engine as opposed to Nissan. But they will cost me about 10.5 or more on road compared to Sunny which will be about 8.6.

Sunny XL with ex showroom cost of 8.14 cones with steering mounted controls, abs, both front air bags. So a real vfm deal IMHO. (no usb for music though, no alloys bluetoorh and a couple of other things)

I am aware of 5.99% loan rate, free insurance and accessories with rapid. I won't pick anyone over the other regarding services and after sales. Have heard horror stories about all three of them.

Though I haven't decided but I am inclining towards sunny because it seems to be a better overall package.

The others that I considered

1. Linea MJD

2. Verna Crdi 1.6

3. Renault scala

Not considered

1. Dzire / Manza/ Toyota

Finally picked skoda rapid as I nentioned in another thread. The decision was taken after test driving both sunny and rapid and rapid turned out to be head and shoulders above sunny in almost all departments except space and cost.

Alto is best package according to your need, it's in your price range as well as have good pickup and mileage. Though it's a small car but looks good and gives you a sporty drive.

Picking up Renault Scala today at 17:00 hours. It was offered at same price as Sunny, because dealer made mistake with my Duster booking. Vento and Skoda were ruled out because team HBO says Sunny/Scala are best for chauffeur configuration. Report appearing soon on teambhp. Android head unit with mirror linking will be first upgrade!
