A-Key (##2539#) Not Working on HTC EVO 4G

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a HTC EVO 4G, the MEID has been registered on Reliance, and the phone activated thru *228.

I can dial out, receive calls, but every call gets disconnected after 2 secs or so.

As I understand the issue can be fixed by adding the A-key.

I got the A-key, but I don't know how I should key it in to the phone.

##2539# is not working on the phone. I don't see a a-key option in any of the other menus.

Is there some other way?

The phone is not rooted yet, is this required to add the a-key?

I have QPST installed, and can get CDMA workshop if needed.

Thanks,

Sameer

Dial ##3424# and instantly connect USB Cable to PC, and Download the HTC Diag Drivers and locate them.

And in CDMA Workshop, Insert Akey.

^^^

@Amit - A-Key inserted in HEX format. Clicked Write (Default - NV Method). Success Message

But when I try to read, It shows nothing. "Akey has not been Set.". Is it Okay ?

Voice and SMS all working now.

Q: Will all the programming have to be done again if I get OTA update for the android OS?

I got a few OTA thru wifi for the HTC EVO 4G. If I get updates again will it wipe out the programming for Reliance and replace with the one for Sprint?

Update generally don't break network parameters.

You can update your phone.

It should rather give you an error "Failed, Cannot Read A-key" when trying to read it out!

Atleast on HTC Phones Factory Reset / Erase User Data don't remove the Operator settings. But for Motorola once you update & reset, All settings are gone.

That's why I say, Keep your MIN noted to a safe place.

Same with Samsung Verizon Fasciante too.

The MIN number on the HTC EVO 4G is a phone number like - 1877 xxx xxx. Is this the Sprint Helpline number? Would this be unique?
