CDMA OMH - Motorola Droid 3

Recommended Posts

May be Motorola 3 is not famous since its Bulky & Thick. But It seems I have a reason for you People to like it now....

Motorola Droid 3 works on CDMA OMH with 1X & EVDO Data (APN Settings) & Same Applies for GSM with 2G & 3G DATA (WCDMA & HSPA). Voice ofcourse works on Both.. :)

Advantage of Verizon Droid 3 ROM --- Apart from CDMA OMH

Moto Phone Portal (Thru USB, Wifi & HDMI)

Call Firewall

Call Record

menu+power to screen shot

FM Radio

Now I can call this Phone at Par & Better than Incredible 2 (in Terms of Hardware Specs)... And a Strong Competitor for Motorola Photon 4G.. But again its Thick & Bulky due to its Physical 5 line Keyboard.

It has been reported that --- *#*#2468#*#* did't work in OTA v60.3.250, so don't wipe, GSM/WCDMA network will be kept.

Its not easy like HTC Incredible 2. Chances of Bricking your Motorola are far higher as compared to HTC. So do at your sole risk.

Yes, Its Chinese ROM for Motorola Milestone 3 XT883, But most of its Chinese is removed Already.. And I hope I am good at removing it :P again that's a manual process. Removed Apks using "root explorer 2.17"

Really good one!! but i could not understand why many of these higher end Android phones are missing front camera?

Not sure if we can use primary camera for video chat / Skype purpose.

Shall Update with Steps & Procedure on Request.

Arre bhai! Why you need someone to request when you're opening a specific topic for that?

Update with the Step by Step procedure + Link to Download the ROAM as Hetalbhai did here for Incredible 2 without anyone requesting for it. >> http://www.rimweb.in...to-omh-handset/

But again its Thick & Bulky due to its Physical 5 line Keyboard.

But i think it has the BEST physical QWERT keyboard of any phone till date. MOTO Build quality should be a Bonus.

Now I can call this Phone at Par & Better than Incredible 2 (in Terms of Hardware Specs)... And a Strong Competitor for Motorola Photon 4G..

Another advantage. Droid 3 is a much CHEAPER buy compared to both Incredible 2 and Motorola Photon.

Here we are talking about XT883 & rest assured it would be out by end of this year.. And if you wish to use CDMA UIM, you have to compromise with few things. Everything is not so easy, I just sold my Droid 3 locally.. & ordered a New one.

ICS for Droid 3 is in Phase 1.

This mint Motorola Droid 3 was sold for US $ 225, approx Rs 11,500 on Ebay.com yesterday >> http://www.ebay.com/...c#ht_500wt_1282

New and GSM part Unlocked are also available between US $ 300 to 350 on Ebay for Buy it Now.

In an Ebay auction, it may turn out even cheaper than that.

Used ones but good condition will cost much less of course than price for new.

It all depends on how good one is at finding & striking a good deal. :)

I purchased this. May be its MINT, But its OLD & refurbished. As per post, seller says "AT&T" works, which normally won't work on Droid 3 unless you flash a XT883 radio.

Also add US shipping, customs, International Shipping..

And as I said earlier. Chances of Bricking a Motorola are far far higher than HTC. And Motorola is NOT a easy Phone, It works like the BEST phone when it works, but when issues come, it would act like the worst of all.. Photon users know it well.. :P

Utter care & knowledge of the Phone & flashing is required if you want to use Motorola. And I should earn some Royalty for it.. :)

Lol.. I did not knew that you were the purchaser. Great deal you grabbed.

May be Rs 1,500 Max through SNS including everything?

By all means. It will be interesting to know at what price this comes for selling, including the Royalty! Let's hope it won't be in the similar scale as Apple and Microsoft where they want royalties for knowledge already invented by someone else and in public domain. :P

Regarding flashing and all, people who may want to use this phone just in GSM won't be required to do any flashing / unlocking if they buy a GSM unlocked phone. Built in ROM can be used right away with flexibility to update it as and when the new manufacturer ROM updates come along.

My point for pricing for this handset was more applicable for GSM users where not a single phone with such specs and full slide out QWERT is available in indian market at this price range if one will buy a mint used droid 3 through Ebay via SNS.

Still i also tell sellers on RIMweb to focus on economy / value segment in CDMA too. There is a large buyer base in CDMA who want to taste smartphones but can't do so as officially only that shi**y Samsung POP is available. Most of the imported CDMA handsets we have on forum tend to go above the 15K mark whereas major market segment waiting to be tapped is within 10 to 15K budget. So many mint imported handsets models like Nexus S, Fascinate, LG Marquee and possibly some higher models too can be made available in this range as they are all available at good prices in Ebay. It's a win win for both seller and buyer as seller will make a good return and buyer gets to buy it at prices which is within his reach and budget. Let's make everyone join the party. :)

Hope i made the perspective clear now.
