Unethical Practice in Reliance GSM Prepaid

Recommended Posts

I Just want to share my experience with my number i got last week. I got the number from one of the shops here in Coimbatore. The number got activated on the same day and i got Rs.20 Balance in my core account and Rs.15 in my promo balance. All fine.

The problem starts next day. you know, To check the balance we need dial *367# in rcom . but instead of that i checked balance using *123# by mistake as usually i do the same with my bsnl no. Suddenly a message pops that i subscribed to some jokes and i lost my Rs.10 which i did unsubscribed immediately. thankfully i got my amount back after complaining to the customer care.

The story didn't stopped there. On the next day i got recharged my number for Rs.200 and Rs.148(the main reason i got the number for - 500 local minutes and 1000 R2R minutes). on the same day i got another Rs.15 lost from my core balance without any sms or anything. i complained this time too and got my Rs.15 back

but yesterday the same thing happens again, Suddenly i got a message that i got Subscribed to OfficeHumour Jokes pack and guess what ? i got Rs.30 Deducted from my core balance. to fuel the fire, i got another Rs.15 lost from my balance after that without any notice.

I'm yet to complain the recent loss to customer care. but seriously i want to know what is happening with them. I'm really tired of complaining. Totally i could lost Rs.70 just in 4 days. The money is not a concern for me, but i just want to share it with you and all of you people aware of it. I suggest you Please don't maintain balance in your core acc.

i just want to know to whom i need to complain to stop this looting happening again.

nothing new with RGSM.. in fact not only with RGSM with every operator....... do one thing everytime when you call to cc always take your reference number......... with these reference number you can at least approach to PG PORTAL ......... with all your issue with refrence numbers

every operator follow this practice, but i haven't faced any subscription issue with MTNL for past 6 years never got any service activated without request..........

Activate the DND service on your number. SMS <START 0> without the brackets to 1909. And they will not be able to activate any services from their ow.

I have activated it and for the past 7 months, there is not a single deduction on my number for any VAS. :-)

The same thing happened to me also recently. I also dialled *123# by mistake and voila, some pack or the other got activated, complained, amount reversed. The next day, voila, yet another pack is activated automatically and then again the same story, complaina nd amount reversals. Again the next 2 days no packs were activated. Yet again, on the 4th day same sequence of events. It is exasperating to say the least. I gave the CCE the choicest expletives about RCOM and they instantly refunded my money all the times alongwith a SMS confirming the same.

All in all, RCOM has gone from bad to worse.

BTW, balac_m, do you know that Rs 148 pack has been stopped from 16th March 2012. Still it is available in RCDMA, but no idea whether the party will continue or end in a few days. Make hay while the sun shines.

Opting for postpaid connection can solve these unwarranted deduction issues.

^^^

You are absolutely right that moving to Postpaid is the biggest advantage to avoid such unwarranted activations. But price to nearly 85 - 90% subscribers is also the biggest consideration, my dear friend. Thats why most in India are on prepaid. The Service Tax is itself absorbed mostly on prepaid by most operators. Plus in postpaid, you do not get many atractive tariff plans as compared to prepaid. Lets not get into the merits and demerits of post vs pre all over again, as it has been discussed many times threadbare here on this forum and elsewhere also. To each man his own liking.

What I would like to state is that the operators should not resort to unwarranted activations at all to offset the low pricing advantages of prepaid.

Opting for postpaid connection can solve these unwarranted deduction issues.

I am on RCDMA postpaid and some callertune service was activated on my number (rs. 30/m) which I came to know when I thoroughly checked my bill last month. Later I complained to CC and they deactivated the service immediately. But later when I looked my previous bills I found that this service was activated since 2-3months ago. I did not fought much with CC for this small matter, and but now I do check my bills carefully to avoid such situations.

I just want to mention that even postpaid are not safe with these unfair practices by service providers.

Use Reliance for Free Local/STD Onnet with that only Packs activated.

Use another Provider say Airtel for OFFnet needs.

Reliance can Activate anything anyime.

^ not true.. just activate full DND (START 0) and then get all the VAS Packs removed, when you'll get confirmation.. reliance will send you a msg. numerous time to change your preference citing the reason that you'll miss special offers and promos, but just ignore them..

am using R-GSM Prepaid for the last six months and not a single penny was deducted by reliance till date..

I also have experienced subscription to services without my consent, and reduction of balance due to reasons unknown. After reading the above posts, I have complained to customercare, and also activated DND. I'll report what happens.

Here is what happened:

At first, I got a message "Your SR No.____ has been processed. Thank you for being with Reliance." When I checked my balance, there was no change.

Soon after, I got another message: "Please let us know if you are satisfied with the resolution of last service request reply yes else no (toll free)

I sent an SMS back "No".

After a few hours when I checked my balance, about 50% of the amount deducted has been restored. But there was no explanation of how the deduction was made or any details of how the remaining amount was consumed.

Once again, without my making any request, on 21/07/2012 I got an SMS:

"You have been successfully subscribed to Astro service at Rs 49.00 for 30 days. To unsubscribe SMS Unsub 2661 to 155223 (Toll Free)."

Of course, an amount of Rs 49.00 was deducted from my prepaid balance.

The next day, I sent an SMS Unsub 2661 to 155223, and I got a reply:

"You have been successfully subscribe from Astro service."

But I continued to get Astro messages, which itself was a source of much annoyance.

The same day (22/07/2012) , I sent an email to customercare@relianceada.com but it bounced:

"Your message

Subject: Subscription to Value Added Service without request.

was not delivered to:

Talisma.Custcare@relianceada.com

because:

Error delivering to Talisma Custcare/Services/INFOCOMM/RIL; Router: Database disk quota exceeded"

So I waited one more day and sent the same mail. This time, I got an acknowledgement and after two days the reply:

"Thank you for contacting Reliance Customer Care.

This is with reference to your e-mail regarding vas related.

We regret for the inconvenience caused in this regard.

Kindly note that, your compliant has been registered vide Service Request ID #### and the same will be processed within 2days.

..."

Finally, I find that the deducted amount has been refunded!

I can't make out why this sort of thing is happening repeatedly. I have registered for DND also the last time. But still I continue to get SMS messages like:

"This monsoon watch babes dripping wet on the beach! Get their images now!"

Any suggestions to prevent such occurrences?
