HTC EVO 4G - Fluctuating Signals

Recommended Posts

I have a HTC EVO 4G,

MEID Registered with reliance.

Had used handset for 4-5 months on Reliance Number.

MikG 2.1 + 3.0 sense ROM.

The signals in this handset fluctuates constantly. For a second I can see all the six bars, then the next second it comes down to three then it comes down to zero. After some time when I switch on the airplane mode and again switch it off I get full signals, and then again it starts to go down.

I have also formatted the phone and loaded a fresh ROM and loaded the PRL again. But the signals are still fluctuating.

Unable to connect a call like *228.

I get an error message as "Call origination attempt fails due to an immediate signal loss (signal fade or no service available)"

What could the problem be?

Members please put some light to my problem....

^^^^ Vinay bhai, I've tried other PRL files, still no luck...

Getting the same error.

And the same kind of fluctuating signals....

A friend of mine said that there could be a problem with the network chip....

Could it be so?

@ garry1313

did the handset ever fall on the ground, a little harder than normal?

As mine did, after which I started facing problems...

fluctuating signal is normal, when you call someone might just keep them on hold and notice your signal it might be stable. I never faced any problem on calls rather then fluctuating signal.

it was with evo 4g, droid eris now on evo 3d. ;)

Mine handset was having this issue since inception..no jerks at all happened, only 2 months old baby.

Plus do you know whenever this problem (signal fading), your phone is out of reach.

@ garry1313

What do you do to overcome the signal fading problem?...

Did u try changing the PRL?

Are you able to connect to the internet any time whenever required?

@ Sunil

I do understand that fluctuating is normal, but fluctuation from full to half and then nil in 3 seconds is really abnormal....

In your case you are able to connect the calls and receive calls....

But in my case I cant connect a single call.....

Gurus please help.....

I strongly have a feeling thats its a hardware problem....

And where can I get it rectified?.....

I faced precisely the same signal reception issue described by Ankush on my new Nokia smartphone. It was finally narrowed down to a fault in the hardware.

My problem is not fixed yet, but the occurance is very rare, say once in a fortnight. Otherwise my voice and data works smooth. Its rare but annoying so if some guru puts some light on this, it shall help me also;)

^ ^ ^ This is a fresh case, I'm yet to receive back my phone.

I'll ask them to pinpoint what exactly the "hardware defect" is.

hello,

try to update with ruu which will upate your kernel, radio and every damm thing not rom. it should be full stock ruu. it will also flash sprint prl. backup min. and akey.

then feed cdma reliance parameter and prl, fresh prl you can redownload frm rimweb.

if you still face a problm then thr might be an hadware issue.

regards.

Some ROMS & RADIOS are not compatible. try using STOCK ROM & STOCK RADIO. If that works keep it. Custom ROMS might have issues with certain Radios.
