Please suggest Basic Good Quality CDMA Handset

Recommended Posts

Friends, I am looking for basic CDMA phone which is of good quality, but my search is leading to nowhere. I am looking a handset that has at least 2 inch screen, is nice looking, good quality, bluetooth would be a plus. Don't need a camera and absolutelu don't want a touch phone. I don't want to buy cheap chinese imports from micromax, karbon etc. and looking for phone from companies like Samsung, LG (love their basic phone series, but the ones available at web world have all mini screens below 1.5 inch which I dont like), motorola, nokia etc.

(I have elaluated samsung F219.. so it there is nothing else I would go for it)

Please suggest a handset, if you know any such handset available in market.

Way over-priced. Such a old set is not worth more than 2600-2800. Even at LG site http://www.lg.com/in...s/LG-LG6400.jsp the MRP price at launch time is mentioned at about 4400

And also don't know how reliable is this online shopping website - ibazaarindia. Never bought anything or even heard of it. Do you have any feedback on this site? There is no COD option. Does not look safe to pay before the product in hand

Also it looks that this is just an old listing. One cannot add to cart this product :)

Friend, Samsung CDMA OMH handsets with gem logo are the best in battery back up, signal capturing and performance. But the sad thing is that only 6 handsets are available in this category. They are Galaxy Y CDMA, Samsung Primo Duos, Galaxy Ace Duos, MPOWER TV S239, Samsung B229 and Mpower Muzik 219. There was some other models but Samsung stopped that models and became obsolete now. As you are looking for base model, select either 219 or 229. If you require a large screen look MPOWER TV S239, which has 2.4 inch, 240 x 320 pixels resolution screen. See more details here

Have a look at FLY GC169. (GSM+CDMA)

Fly is a Merian UK phone company

The phone has all features you want with a 5.6 cm screen.

Available with COD at : http://www.snapdeal....tachment=13420:fly-gc-169.jpg]

Thanks Venkata for taking time to suggest handset.

Just asking you - how is the quality of FLY mobiles? Better than Micromax? I had purchased a Micromax mobile and still regret buying it as the quality of sound is very poor plus there are issues of calls getting blank (http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/34317-call-dropping-in-micromax-handset-on-tower-switch-while-talking/ ).

So I want to make sure before buying a FLY mobile that it is not the same cheap quality chinese rebranded product. Have you used FLY mobiles? How are they?

Quality is not upto the mark.

Just like spice or micromax.

Better go for samsung or palm.

You will get mint Samsung Duos w259 for 2.5. But cheap handsets are cheap. LG is better in entry level Qualcomm CDMA phones. Ex. LG 6160

Yea, on Ebay everyone is selling for 6k+. So if anyone selling mint condition 2.5k it would surely be a good deal.

I browsed an MTS Mtag CDMA (Android Ruim based) handset on Sunday, Aug 12 at 11:00 pm on m.olx.in (Faridabad) and immediately smsed the seller. He was shocked to know my interest as I am in Gujarat. Transfered Rs 3000 including 310 for Bluedart. Received it on Tuesday morning. The phone is 3 months old, immaculate and with total package. You will get used CDMA phones like peanuts selling everywhere. In fact cdma phones are more better conditioned than GSM ones for the reasons unknown. Sadly the phone is MTS locked NAM, but I rooted it and got rid of the carrierware.

No looking for a new phone only. A used one is a used one.

check this one, if it fits ur budget

I was thinking of going for this but backed of due to following two reasons:

1.) It is not a RUIM based phone i.e not SIM based. Having non SIM based phone is inconvinient

2.) Bad feedback in thread - http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/23400-blackberry-pearl-flip-8230/ . Look like the screen gets damaged too soon.

I personally prefer android phones cdma and/or gsm because of cloud processing. This phone has wifi so if you have your PIM data on Google, you can just log-in using wifi even if 1x/data does not work. Used phone is a used phone but there is a term 'mint' used for pre-owned items, Reliance CDMA lost the largest chunk of subscribers so all these subscribers who quit CDMA eagerly sold/sell their handsets at whatever prices. My brother bought a month old Samsung Y cdma (RUIM) for 3800 in Mumbai today.

I am in no way imposing my thoughts over others, this is just a suggestion
