Reliance 3G SIM working on USB modem but not working on LG Optimus 2X Android handset

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have an LG Optimus 2X Android mobile phone. I have a Reliance SIM card.

When I use the Reliance SIM card in my Micromax USB modem, the software displays an 'H' and the SIM works at 3G speeds.

When I put the SIM cardin my Android phone with the network type set to automatic the display shows 'G', or 'E'.

I am from England and my Hindi is very poor so whenever I call customer service there is no one who can help me in English.

When I first got this SIM I was told there were more than one type of Reliance SIM and that you needed to use the correct APN. I have tried both rcomnet and smartnet for the APN and still I only get 2G speeds on my phone.

If I put my BSNL SIM in my phone with all the others settings still the same, the display shows an 'H'.

Any ideas?

best

Aidan

Try this

Dial *#*#4636#*#*

Go to phone information

And in preferred network choose wcdma only or choose wcdma preferred.

Do not mess wid other setting there without proper knowledge.

And exit by clicking back button.

Update here if it helps

Regards

3G signals may be week in that particular area. Select 3G Only instead of automatic in network selection mode hope issue will be resolved.

HI

Thanks for the quick replies. I always thought WCMDA was something to do with CDMA and as my SIM is GSM assumed that it used UTMS. Now it seems I need to do a little learning about the different types of 3G.

I'm running Cyangenmod 7.2 and the option of WDMA only is already present so I switched to that and now it works on 3G/H. The room I am staying in has very poor signal so I'm guessing that when I was using the USB modem in the same room that it was capable of working with a weaker singnal. I had already set 3G only in the setting on USB modem so it was never switching to 2G when the signal was poor but just dropping the connection which it did quite often.

So thanks to both for your helpful input.
