Recommended Posts

You asked for it.. You got it.. an LTE Chip That Will Work Anywhere in the World!

Qualcomm made it known that they are releasing an LTE chip set that will work anywhere in the world. The RF360 chips provides connectivity for LTE-FDD, LTE-TDD, WCDMA, EV-DO, CDMA 1x, TD-SCDMA and GSM/EDGE networks.

One of our members was able to find a video about this exciting new chip, enjoy!

Manufacturers are sure to take this news well as it will allow them to make just one version of a phone that will work anywhere in the world.

Thanks CJM for the tip and Dusty for the video!

Good to know, we can buy phones from other countries too without any hassles of unlocking.
Many members might be disappointed though. :nerves:

Carriers will still continue to sell locked handsets even after this. It is more of a single chip solution for phone manufacturers so they don't have to use different/multiple radios in same model of handset catering to different countries/basebands.

Second half of 2013 as per Qualcomm.

lol. Got excited and got it all wrong. You are right. But it will be easy for the manufacturers to manufacture a single model and for the ROM and app developers to develop(only those apps that depend on certain frequency). Also, would be easy to unlock phones. Now every smartphone will be fully global (and the locked ones after unlocking)

Whether it will support our Jio's 2.3GHz LTE and unconventional 2.6GHz LTE of BSNL (in future)????

It supports all 40 basebands in the frequency range 700 to 2700 MHz. So yes to Reliance and BSNL both.
