Hardware Purchase Suggestion Requests

Recommended Posts

:previous: Hitesh, its an excellent idea. thanx a lot.. appreciate if you can share the pix of the cable. I will have to cut non working headphone/mic cable.

Never thought of size but easy to carry. Not something bulky and heavy.

I used this cable (looks same) http://ep.yimg.com/ay/videoware/2-ft-3-5mm-mini-stereo-male-to-male-speaker-cable-3.gif

its only 1feet length works gr8 as antenna,

It just need to close the circuit, even I have tested with old head phone cable, cut into just 5cm from jack and it works. only poor reception in closed area.

Thanks Hitesh.

Got a LG DVD writer for Rs. 950/- .

At this price, I feel there is no point in comparing and searching for various brands & models. Just get whatever is available off the shelf. And that is what I did!

Just to mention: Online prices were in the range of 1000-1100 plus shipping.

For my Mumbai Office we have ditch MTNL for data due to too much downtime (local issue)

After a good review from near by offices We are going with local cable net provider,

Getting 2MBPS unlimited @ 650 p.m., which is Ok OK rate.

Its a WAN PPoE network (RJ45/Cat6)

I need to put a WiFi router for same, Already have ADSL modem with Wifi,

ADSL router will not help here so thinking of using it on another location.

Now I have very few options for cable net,

1) @Rs 1099 http://www.ebay.in/itm/TP-LINK-MR702N-Wireless-Router-150M-Nano-mini-wall-portable-broadband-home-/400631267318?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item5d477bfff6

2) @ Rs 1190 http://www.ebay.in/itm/TL-WR740N-150Mbps-Wireless-N-Router-Share-internet-ANY-DSL-Broadband-cable-WAN-/271290974649?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3f2a33c1b9

3) @ 849 http://www.ebay.in/itm/SMC-N150-SMC-WBR14S-N-150MBPS-Wireless-Cable-DSL-Broadband-Router-3-yrs-warranty-/400631345161?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item5d477d3009

If any one have used any of these, kindly recommend , or if any other options please suggest.

thanks

It depends on the office size .. if its a small office the TL-WR740N 150Mbps would do its job .. if it has multiple room and over 800 sq ft .. i would recommend a better router like a TP link N600 ..

I need suggestion over quality of the product, WiFi coverage is not an issue for me.

office is too small just 20x15 .

Like SMC is available only for 850, after eBay discount it will be only 790,

And other are also not too costly just around 1k

just wanted to know if any one had used it in past, any experience would be good.

Coido 3326 12V Electric Car Tyre Tire Inflator Air Compressor Pump

I have exact same model (bought in Nov'2012) and it's good. I don't use it n routine and get my car's air pressure checked at petrol pump while filling the petrol.

But once you have flat tyre, it inflates the tyre in 5-7 minutes and you are good to go, do you work and get the puncture fixed. It won't leave you stranded on road unless it is too big puncture.

Last I used it one month ago.

PS: I bought another one for my bro-in-law.in Mar'2013.

Edit: Buy it from snapdeal @977/-. Create a new account and they will send you a Rs.200/- discount coupon.

Purchased this FWP - CDMA RUIM based. Model is CT800P, earlier sold by BSNL, so it's logo is on Box, phone, manual etc.

Total price paid - 1599 + 99 ship = 1698 Rs.

  • Value for money item.
  • It's a brand new piece.
  • Checked working with Reliance CDMA & TATA CDMA.
  • All features like phone / sms / data is available.
  • Operation is like desktop phone only. Lift the handset dial the number & after 2 sec, number gets dialed automatically.
  • receiving phone is also like desktop. Lift the handset & phone call is on.
  • Checked with data also, it works perfect. However, drivers for Win7 are little difficult to locate. I did it eventually, so in case anyone wants let me know.
  • Manual mention High speed data, but from initial connection speed, it sees only 1x is possible.
  • Comes with a charger + 3 rechargeable battery.
  • Phone works even if there is a battery or no battery in the phone. So, if mobility is not a concern, than can directly plug in the adapter & works well.
  • Typing SMS is little confusing, due to inbuilt dictionary.
  • As of now, unable to transfer my mobile phone contacts into this phone. Seller has suggested me to transfer contacts on RUIM (in mobile phone) & then insert RUIM into FWP. That's surely an option, but since phone can be connected with computer, there must be a method to transfer contacts from PC to this phone like PC suite software etc..
  • External plastic quality is very good, but in the SIM tray very poor quality plastic parts are there, so if anyone plans to use multiple cards, in high frequency should try to be careful. As it can be easily broken, due to multiple open / close operation.

Yes, it uses AA batteries. 3 of them. Rechargeable, but very cheap quality.

I thought, high speed data will be HSD > mean EVDO. But, anyway, my application is not for data, so doesn't matter.

They get charged inside the phone itself. There are two options in Phone Menu itself, for fast recharge & slow recharge.

Here is the Manual for same, for anyone to know more..(http://goo.gl/YPShzJ)

& here are the drivers for all OS 32/64 bit (http://goo.gl/iRMi2t)

MODS : If this topic is not relevant here, kindly move it to relevant one with a title, as I am unable to find anything related. However, it is very useful.

Objective : If you have datacard like ec122 (cdma unlocked) or any other GSM Based dongle & want to use that datacard's internet on your other device like phone / tablet you can do it if you have basic wifi router..

As such there are Three options below:

1) Make a virtual hot-spot (ad-hoc wireless connection) & share your Datacard's internet connection by Win7 hotspot. Problem, so far I know, Android device don't connect to Ad-hoc network. I had blackberry in past, which used to get connected.

2) Buy something like this (http://goo.gl/nGLKgL) << A kind of MiFi device, which creates a wifi hotspot with your datacard.

But, this one will require extra spending on top of datacard. In addition to that, range will not be too good considering typical requirement portable wifi device caters to.

3) Relay your internet connection (from Datacard) through your wifi router. (Assuming you already have one, as compare to datacard and portable wifi device, normal wifi routers are more prevalent).

I won't do any copy/paste job, so here you go >> http://goo.gl/MnSdMT

I have been able to connect my datacard (huawei ec122 cdma unlocked) with my D-link router (DIR-524) on Win7-64 bit.

And it works perfectly.

Best, thing about this method 3 is range & wifi signal strength. I have used win7 connection in past, & signal strength was major issue, when encountered a wall or two. I have not tried portable router, so can't compare, but now who needs it anyways :)

Solutions for 1 & 2 also exist in case it is the only option.

For 1, there are software's like ConnectyFly / Virtual Router, which I had tried in past, but was not able to connect android phone (guess, I may have not set it up correctly). But, even in that case, range will be limited by your laptop's wifi hardware capability.

For 2, If requirement is similar & above technical things don't really suit you, you can consider Tp-link as well (http://goo.gl/ELZcjk).
