HTC Sensation XE Goes Official - 1.5 Ghz Dual Core Processor with Bits Audio

Source

1315989168_w518_h479.jpg

HTC has gone official on its rumoured Sensation upgrade, previously rumoured to be carrying Beats Audio branding, technology and earphones.

Improving on the HTC Sensation of yester-month, the XE promises improved audio processing, both on the hardware and the built-in software. The dual-core processor has been nudged to 1.5 GHz, whilst the battery has also been increased.

The new Sensation XE adds custom audio processing hardware and software, as well as increasing the speed of the Android Gingerbread smartphone to 1.5GHz and boosting runtimes with a larger battery.

When users plug in the boxed Beats by Dr. Dre in-ear headphones, the Sensation XE will switch to a special “Beats” sound profile, tuned to improve the sound output specifically for those cans.

The Sensation XE will arrive with either a 8GB or 16GB microSD card inside too, whilst the phone has also had a Beats paint job - as you can see in the press shot - with red hues, Android key backlighting and detail added to the original monolithic HTC Sensation.

Any news on a release date? Well, according to the release, HTC Sensation XE is set to arrive in Europe and Asia later this month, but there’s no official price-tag just yet.

LG Optimus Q2 Touts 1.2GHz Tegra 2 Processor, 4-inch IPS LCD, QWERY Slider

Source

LG launched the second wave of its high-end messaging smartphones late Sunday by launching the Optimus Q2. Its new design centers on a considerably larger four-inch, IPS-based LCD screen with a very bright 700-nit output. The Android 2.3 hardware is also one of the first smartphones in the field with a newly upgraded 1.2GHz Tegra 2 and should outperform the T-Mobile G2X (Optimus 2X).

lgoptimusq2-lg1.jpg

The design itself is intended to evade some of the bulk of other slider phones while improving on the comfort of the earlier Optimus Q. LG claims the Q2 is nearly a tenth of an inch thinner than competitors and 0.35 ounces lighter than its ancestor. It has a strictly average five-megapixel back camera and a VGA front camera, but it adds Wi-Fi Direct for faster sharing when devices support it.

lgoptimusq2-lg2.jpg

A launch is expected in South Korea next weekend. Other networks haven't been detailed, although it might arrive on Sprint as just the Q.

Samsung Epic like Qwerty mobile phones

Virgin Mobile’s LG Optimus Slider Outed by Best Buy1_1_trans.gif

lgoslide.png

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, prepaid folks need love too! The folks over at Best Buy seem to have the same philosophy. Earlier today someone jumped the gun on their website and launched a page for Virgin Mobile’s LG Optimus Slider. Price at $199.99 this mid-level Android features a 3.2-inch HVGA display, 3-megapixel camera and Android 2.3. Yes it’s far from the flash of the glorious Motorola Triumph, but it is still something worth considering for a heavy texting teenager. We’re still unsure of an exact release date, but word is sometime in October. In fact as of writing this, Best Buy has since axed the handset’s page, but trust us it was there. Hopefully next time they’ll goof up on one of the major handsets that’s rumored to release later in October, but something tells us they’ll be some serious consequences for such a goof up.

Rogers getting Samsung Galaxy S Glide in time for the holidays

galaxysglide-20110923.jpg

Sure, Rogers will soon be launching its flagship Samsung Galaxy S II LTE, but sometimes you just gotta have a tangible keyboard. That's where the Galaxy S Glide comes in: the folks at MobileSyrup were able to take a brief tour of the device, and discovered that this previously unannounced phone has a four-row QWERTY with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz dual-core CPU and 8MP rear / 1.2MP front-facing cameras. Not quite up to par with its 4G-equipped older brother, but anyone not needing the fanciest toy on the market but craving high performance may find this option particularly intriguing. It's expected to show up sometime between now and the end of the year (that narrows down the timeframe quite a bit) and has no established price point as of yet. We could see the device hovering around the mid-range for now, at least, and will likely be much more popular than the tragically-unrelated Samsung Glyde.

Samsung, Google delay Ice Cream Sandwich Android introduction

Source

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Google Inc. this week delayed the introduction of the latest version of the Android OS code-named Ice Cream Sandwich.

The companies were expected to unveil the new operating system next week at a trade event in San Diego, CA.

Both companies released a joint statement that stated it was not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product, reportedly due to the passing of Apple Inc. co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs.

The Ice Cream Sandwich OS was said to be introduced on a new smartphone, the NexusPrime, developed by Samsung.

This week, Samsung released a new video that detailed the side profile of a new device that includes a power button and dock connector.

Ice Cream Sandwich is said to unify the Android OS for smartphone and tablet devices.

The Nexus Prime reveal would follow Apple Inc.’s announcement of the iPhone 4S.

The company this week the iPhone 4S will be sold via AT&T Inc., Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp. Oct. 14 starting at $199.

The iPhone 4S will include the A5 Dual-Core CPU, 8MP camera, 1080 HD video recording functionality, iOS 5, and a new voice command protocol called Suri.

Prior devices in the Nexus line include the Nexus S by Samsung and the Nexus One by HTC Corp.

Not sure If it is the right place to post it however could not resist the temptaion to share the news.

Leaked Samsung Galaxy S III specs show dual-core 1.8 GHz CPU, 2GB of RAM.

While we are still waiting for the much-hyped Samsung Nexus Prime, leaked details of another flagship handset – Samsung Galaxy S III – have hit the Internet. Phandroid has posted a screenshot of what are being rumoured to be the specs of the Galaxy S III, the unannounced successor to the popular Samsung Galaxy S II.

According to Phandroid, the Galaxy S III will come with a dual-core 1.8GHz Exynos 4212 processor along with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone will feature a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display, which is likely to deliver HD resolution without the PenTile technology, available in the present Samsung displays.

Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy S III will have a 12MP camera, powered by a W750 BSI CMOS sensor for image control. The new Samsung smartphone will apparently also feature LTE, NFC support and unlike the forthcoming Nexus Prime, the Galaxy S III will have a flat display.

The rumour mill states the Galaxy S III will also have a thinner body than the S II, and should quite obviously run on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Phandroid, points out that the information on the Galaxy S III is unconfirmed at this time.

After the success Samsung has had with the Galaxy S II, it seems likely the company would cash in on with a sequel, the Galaxy S III. If the details published by Phandroid are to be believed, we are afraid the "my clock speed is better than yours" battle has begun amongst smartphone manufacturers. We hope the focus on more raw power, doesn't leave usability and a smartphone's other vital features far behind.
