Everything is great about DNA aka butterfly except for that last thing

A meagre 2020 mah

I feel that's gonna be the ultimate undoing of this handset.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Launching in India Tomorrow

14louio.jpg

Samsung India has confirmed it will be launching the Galaxy Grand in India tomorrow. The company is hosting a press event in Mumbai tomorrow to unveil the ‘Newest Galaxy’. However, its official Twitter handle has just posted readers to be ready for the ‘Grand’ launch along with a link from where participants can win a Galaxy Grand. So much for creating suspense.

The Galaxy Grand was announced globally last month as a budget phablet and sports a 5-inch WVGA display, a 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras. It will run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It comes with 1GB RAM, 8GB internal user memory and a microSD card slot. Samsung also has a dual-SIM version of the Galaxy Grand but we are not sure whether it will launch that tomorrow or not.

It will be interesting how Samsung prices the Galaxy Grand considering Micromax today launched the Canvas HD that comes with a quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel camera, 5-inch 720p display and similar specs to the Galaxy Grand. It too runs on Android 4.1.2 but will be priced below Rs 15,000 once it hits shelves in the first week of February. Micromax also claims it has overtaken Samsung as India’s number one phablet seller in the third quarter of 2012 when it imported more phablets than any other company.

Samsung GALAXY Grand specifications

  • 1.2 GHz Dual Core processor

  • 5.0” WVGA TFT LCD

  • Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean)

  • Camera Main : 8 Megapixel Auto Focus Camera with Flash & Zero Shutter Lag

Hmmm, Sammy brought GrandDuos to fight Micromax Canvas2, but now Micromax has got a new powerful weapon CanvasHD at better price point. Even Sammy can't price it in sub 20k, as the GRAND's specs are better than S2 -- which is still being sold at 23k.

Looks like its good time for Phablet lovers....

Just 1600mah battery and 4 hrs of talk time.

Why no manufacturer except Motorola is not concentrating on battery? Is it a fact that for majority of customers battery is not a much of requirement? Then what for they buy these phones if they don't use it. Just to show off!!!!

Sprint Debuts Rugged, Waterproof Kyocera Torque

Sprint announced the next Android smartphone to offer 4G LTE service on the Now Network, introducing the rugged and waterproof Kyocera Torque.

torque_bath_water.jpg

Details for the Kyocera Torque include,

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

  • 4-inch WVGA LCD IPS capacitive display

  • 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor

  • 4GB internal storage

  • 1GB RAM, microSD support,

  • 2500mAh battery.

If you’re the type of person who needs a phone that handles abuse, then the Torque might be your best option. This guy can take drops, handle water, dirt, and everything else that life throws its way.

Waterproof, Dirt-Proof, Drop-Proof

Built to Military Standard 810G, Torque is made to withstand water, dust, shock, vibration, solar radiation, humidity, and extreme temperatures, along with IP67 standards for dust and water immersion.

Torque has been tested to hold up against life’s extremes – including some most people will never see – to help ensure it will be there when you need it, including:

  • Waterproof whether sprayed or immersed in up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes, Torque can handle all the rain, sprinklers, hoses, spit, drool, drinks, sinks or toilet water life can throw at it – that’s more than can be said of the around 82 million handsets in the U.S. that have already been destroyed by liquid.1

  • Extreme Temperatures of -22° to 140°F (-30° to 60°C) for a non-operating unit for two hours and -4° to 122°F (-20° to 50°C) for an operating unit for three hours – from backcountry snowboard trips to hikes in Death Valley, don’t sweat it.

  • Dropped 26 times from 4 feet high – or, the average week with kids at the playground.

  • Heavy dust for six hours – going off the grid while off-roading and camping will never be an issue.

  • Horizontal, vertical and sideways vibrations for one hour – that mountain bike ride or roller coaster will be no match for Torque.

  • Exposure to salt fog, for a complete 48 hour cycle; this cycle includes 24 hours exposure to salt fog followed by 24 hours drying time – ideal for surfers, beach lovers or those who left their hearts and phones in San Francisco.

  • 95 percent humidity for 10 days straight – the phone can handle it, but its owners may not.

  • Solar radiation exposure of 1120 W/m2 for 24 hours – you might need sunscreen, but your phone doesn’t mind soaking up some rays.

  • Low pressure at 57.11 kPa/15,000 feet (4,572 meters) for two hours – higher than the tallest mountain peak in the lower 48 U.S. states.

Samsung Announces Galaxy Young And Galaxy Fame

In Samsung's continuing quest to conquer every single niche in the smartphone world, they've got two new entries on the low end. The Galaxy Young and Galaxy Fame are positively tiny compared to most of the other Galaxy phones, and based on their specifications, will probably be quite cheap when they hit the market. The Young is slightly lower on the totem pole than the Fame, but fortunately, both use Jelly Bean 4.1.

nexusae0_young_thumb1.jpg

The Galaxy Young seems to be the very definition of a budget smartphone, thanks to its tiny 3.27-inch HVGA (480x320) screen, 1Ghz single-core processor, 768MB of RAM, and a 1300mAh battery. The only camera option option is a 3MP rear shooter. Storage is limited to 4GB, though the addition of a MicroSD card slot is a mercy. Naturally the software has the full TouchWiz treatment, complete with a light version of Samsung's Game Hub. Dimensions are 58.6x109.4 x12.5mm.

nexusae0_fame_thumb.jpg

The Galaxy Fame is slightly more high-end, with a 3.5-inch screen of the same resolution, a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. You also get NFC and Glonass GPS. Strangely, the Fame has a slightly lower 512MB of RAM. Other specifications are identical, and it's a bit taller, wider, and thinner at 113.2x61.6x11.6mm. Both phones will be available in standard versions and the increasingly popular dual SIM models. There is no word on when either will be available for purchase, where, or for how much.

JiaYu Mobiles, a Chinese brand, plans to launch its phone in India, the company has told the Mobile Indian in a written communication. The company says it will open its Delhi office in March and launch three Android phones in entry level, dual core and quad core categories priced at Rs 3,000, Rs 8,000 and Rs 9,000 respectively.

While the company has not shared details of the other two phones, it has sent us the specifications of the quad core phone that it plans to launch.

Jiayu-4.jpg

The phone called JiaYu G4 will come with mouth-watering specifications like 1.2 GHz quad core CPU based on Mediatek MT6589 chipset coupled with 2 GB RAM. It has a 4.7 inch IPS panel with 1280x720 pixel resolution based high definition display. The phone also gets Gorilla Glass 2 which is the best in terms of screen protection against scratches and cracks.

The Android 4.1 Jelly bean based JiaYu G4 also has a 13 megapixel camera with CMOS sensor and LED flash and HD recording. It also sports a 3 megapixel front facing camera. Even in terms of battery, the phone has a very large 3000 mAH battery which is one of the largest in any smartphone.

The best part about the phone is its pricing which at Rs 9,000 will be hard to beat even by Indian brands. However the phones' success will depend on how fast JiaYu can set up a sales and support network in India.
