The Google nexus's page in Google play can only be viewed through U.S proxies, but you can still buy it if you either have U.S addressed cards or if you are availing services like Unlocked.com, the price at which it is being offered is outstanding as it is only $100 more than what Verizon customers paid back in November for verizon Nexus with 2-year contract.

As far as Google drive is concerned, there was lot of confusion in the prices of G-drive services as some people got it's services for lot cheaper than what the official prices were given out(given below), I read that many people got 20 GB/$5, 80GB/$20, 200GB/$50 (all per year plans) The official price list is as follows:

*5GB for free 25GB for $2.49 per month

*100GB for $4.99 per month

*1TB for $49.99 per month Enterprise-focused data allowances are also available, offering up to 16TB of space. Upgrading to a paid plan will automatically boost you up to 25GB of Gmail storage, too.

For some people Google drive is not yet opened, including me, whenever I sign into G-drive, it says it will inform me when my G-drive is setup.

ANOTHER GOOD CLOUD OFFER: Microsoft Sky drive started offering free 25GB for all it's sky drive users.

Oh No, it does not become their property. The concerns are not much to worry about. All other have worse, not clearly defined policies. All rights asked for are needed to provide cloud services without breaking tough american laws. Google Baba uses simpler english instead of legal mumbo jumbo.

eBay shifts gears in India as rivals step up

MUMBAI (Reuters) – eBay Inc (EBAY.O) is stepping up investment in India to boost its share of a market dominated by domestic players such as Flipkart and fend off encroachment from arch-rival Amazon.com (AMZN.O).

The e-commerce company dipped a toe into the Indian market seven years ago and stuck with a cautious approach, even as local upstarts made splashy grabs for business in a tiny but growing market.

“The talks of us having missed the bus are exaggerated,” Muralikrishnan B, country manager for Silicon Valley-based eBay told Reuters in an interview in Mumbai.

“Most of the new business models are just waiting to implode. We have chosen the cautious route, unlike a lot of Indian businesses who are blindly investing money without having an eye on sustainability or profitability,” he said.

The company hopes to bring its online payments business PayPal into India soon, which would help draw more online shoppers in a country where most online retail merchandise is sold on a cash-on-delivery basis.

eBay India, which started in 2005, clocks six transactions per minute, according to the Internet and Mobile Association of India. By comparison, fast-growing Flipkart, founded by two former Amazon employees in 2007, sells 20 items per minute.

Muralikrishnan, 36, joined eBay shortly after its entry into India.

He does not believe eBay has ceded an early mover advantage.

“We waited for the right moment because we didn’t want to get caught up in the clutter. We were sure a lot of this new money will dry up and that has already started to happen.”

AMAZON LOOMS

India’s $10 billion e-commerce market, dominated by online travel portals led by MakeMyTrip.com (MMYT.O) and Yatra.com, is seeing a flurry of promotional activity from startups that sell everything from electronics to clothes, shoes and fragrances.

Besides Flipkart, aggressive local players include HomeShop18, OLX, Quickr and Snapdeal.

Online shopping is still in its infancy, but it has struck a chord with time-constrained middle class shoppers in India, where rising incomes, aspirations to own brands, and an underdeveloped brick-and-mortar retail network are pushing many to shop from their homes.

Consulting firm Technopak expects the market to hit $70 billion by 2020.

eBay, which started in India selling flowers and chocolates as gift items to love-struck couples, now sells a variety of products including phones, mountain climbing gear and collectible stamps, either via auction or at fixed prices.

Muralikrishnan, who helped Sify Technologies (SIFY.O) set up shop in India before joining eBay, acknowledges there are worthy competitors. Its much-larger global rival, Amazon, recently entered India through the acquisition of a local price comparison platform called Junglee.com and is expected to launch an international online store.

“At some point of time Amazon will enter India and they are a credible threat to us,” he said.

eBay plans to invest millions of dollars in advertising in coming years, although Muralikrishnan did not give specifics.

It is also investing in strengthening its supply chain and distribution by tying up with courier services, and it hopes that PayPal will clear regulatory hurdles at the Reserve Bank of India soon.

“PayPal should enter India soon and then we will have a lot more people making payments online because that’s a globally trusted name,” Muralikrishnan said.

It is also investing in strengthening its supply chain and distribution by tying up with courier services.

To add to that, Ebay India has already tied-up with FedEx to provide FedEx International Priority Services or Expedited Services at special discount prices to Ebay India sellers, using this service sellers can ship their items to US & some European Countries in 48-Hours. And the prices are very competetive, please refer the attached image for the rates.

And also they(Ebay India) & Paypal tied-up with FIEO(The Federation of Indian Export Organisations) - the apex body of all Export promotion Councils, Commodity Boards and Export Development Authorities in the country, in a move to encourage exports using e-commerce in the country.

This can be good system if works as mentioned. Should be made mandatory in tourist vehicles in order to reduce accidents.

Anti-drowsiness system prevents drivers from dozing off

The Driver Drowsiness Detection system monitors the driver's steering inputs and a host of other variables connected to a software that detects when a driver is feeling drowsy. The software uses an algorithm to create an index. If the index exceeds a specific value, the system conveys a warning to the driver that a break is needed

driver-drowsiness-system_560x420.jpg

Driver fatigue is one of the biggest causes of fatal road accidents around the world. Monotonous driving on arrow straight motorways can easily cause a driver to become mentally exhausted leading to loss of concentration. The transition from mental fatigue to drowsiness can be so sudden that the driver does not even notice.

Developed by Bosch GmbH, the Driver Drowsiness Detection system is a software that constantly analyses the driver’s steering behaviour right from the moment he/she gets behind the wheel. During a journey, the driver provides many steering inputs based on his/her driving style. The software’s algorithm recognises changes in steering behaviour during long trips using the pattern to detect the driver’s level of fatigue.

Bosch’s Driver Drowsiness Detection system uses the vehicle’s electronic power steering, a steering angle sensor which is part of a vehicle’s Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and on-board cameras, which are monitored by the safety software. Bosch’s software identifies something called a ‘deadband’ during which the driver stops steering the vehicle. This is followed by sudden abrupt corrections made by the driver while waking up from a microsleep.

The system combines the frequency of these reactions with other variables such as time of day, vehicle speed, use of turn indicators and lane departure cameras to calculate a drowsiness index. If and when this index exceeds a specific value, a visual and/or audio signal is created to warn the driver that he/she is becoming tired and a break is necessary. Here, the coffee mug icon being displayed is the sign given to the driver to take a break. The system can also be hooked to the vehicle’s sat-nav system to locate the nearest place where the driver can stop for coffee.

Companies like Volvo had integrated a camera between the windshield and rear-view mirror of their trucks to analyse facial patterns of drivers to detect when a driver is feeling sleepy. In case a driver’s eyes close longer than usual, blinking and yawns are detected by the camera and an audio warning is played to alert the driver of his condition.

The Driver Drowsiness Detection system is another pioneering automobile technology designed to make motoring safer for the driver as well as the vehicle’s surroundings.

O2 and Vodafonein UK tie up to share infrastructure. They this will help them to reduce cost, remove unnecessary base station sites and other hardware. This will help them to provide LTE to 98% of UK in few years. It seems good logic as both cos will save a lot. But what will happen when they part ways.

UNBELIEVEABLE SITE

One of the most interesting sites I have ever seen. Just put your mouse on a city and the newspaper headlines pop up... Double click and the page gets larger....

http://www.newseum. org/todaysfrontp ages/flash/

Also, if you look at the European papers, the far left side of Germany will pop up as The Stars & Stripes (European edition, of course). AND, this site changes everyday with the publication of new editions of the paper. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

The Newseum displays these daily newspaper front pages in their original, unedited form. Some front pages may contain material that is objectionable to some visitors. Viewer discretion is advised.

Over 900,000 Android Devices Activated Every Day, Says Google's Rubin

By Mikael Ricknäs, IDG News Jun 11, 2012 5:40 pm

Source

Android continues to grow, with over 900,000 devices based on the OS now being activated every day, according to Andy Rubin, who heads up development of the smartphone operating system at Google.

That figure compares to around 500,000 devices per day at the end of June last year, and 850,000 per day at the end of February, according to Twitter messages from Rubin, who didn't elaborate on the split between smartphones, tablets and other device types.

First-quarter shipments of Android smartphones were up 145 percent on a year earlier, giving the OS, a global smartphone market share of 59 percent, according to IDC, which keeps track of units sold to the channel as opposed to devices activated by users.

However, all is not well in the Android camp. Last week, High Tech Computer (HTC) lowered its expected revenue for the second quarter due to lower-than-anticipated sales to Europe, and the delayed shipment and launch of certain products in the U.S., the company said.

Along with HTC, Sony Mobile, LG Electronics and Google-owned Motorola Mobility are all trying to find their place in a smartphone world increasingly dominated by Samsung Electronics and Apple.

Most of the growth, though, will happen in the market for cheap smartphones where the likes of ZTE and Huawei Technologies are pushing down prices. These new entrants are expecting lower profit margins, said Richard Kramer, managing partner at Arete Research, in a keynote speech during the recent Open Mobile Summit conference in London.

Smartphone sales will total between 750 million and 800 million units, or over US$230 billion by value during 2012, according to Kramer. However, Apple, Samsung Electronics and HTC are the only vendors making money, he said at the time.

Google's Android will still be the king of smartphone operating system's in 2016, but its market share will erode as Windows Phone takes off, according to a report from market research company IDC.

By the end of 2012, Android's smartphone market share will be 61 percent, but in four years its share will have dropped to about 53 percent, according to IDC.
