This variant launched in indian market is cdma/gsm or gsm/gsm but only on cdma/gsm you get both the network active else on gsm/gsm you get dual stand by only.

On htc desire 700 you get dual active on both the sims either cdma/gsm or gsm/gsm.

Its retailing at 23500/-.

https://www.zauba.com/import-htc-816-hs-code.html

On some listing it says : HTC MOBILE PHONE - HTC DESIRE 816 WHITE, D816D, 0P9C51099HZM022-00(A5#DWG-C9) -DUAL SIM(GSM+CDMA) (5.5TOUCH SCREEN)

So it is GSM+CDMA for sure....

I believe you are confusing between WCDMA2000(GSM) AND CDMA2000(CDMA)

As per HTC India website, it does support CDMA.

Text quoted from support section on the site:

"In slot 1, insert a CDMA nano UIM or 3G/GSM nano SIM card. In slot 2, insert a GSM nano SIM."

No confusion

wcdma is for GSM....but companies do use wcdma2000 in place of çdmà2000...

on htc website as well they have mentioned wcdma2000 using 800 Mhz CDMA band

1. India LTE band is 2300 while rest of Asia is 2600.

2. Go to gsmarena and search for HTC One DS. Then click compare and add 816. You will see a very nice comparison.

If it has no LTE why invest so high on average specked handset? HTC still seems to be treating Indian market as second class market. AFAIK most current Qualcomm chipsets support all LTE bands.
