Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 supports CDMA

Recommended Posts

Keep APN setting as blank i.e. do not select any APN.

Delete all the apn which mobile shows

And set network to Reliance CDMA manually.

That's all that is needed.

Rest will be picked up from the CDMA diamond sim automatically.

Please send the complete review

Received the phone in my hand today.

Yes, data issue is there and data is not connecting. Need to find a solution.

PS - How is Samrat's data connecting? What settings have you done?

BTW, I am not sure if the SIM has EVDO activated although I did receive the SMS from RCOM that it has been activated. I should be receiving Honor Holly2 plus tomorrow. I will test the same SIM in that phone and update here.

There is no PPP Dial option in APN setting which needs to be on #777. If somehow we can set that, I think data should work.

Ok, this is really strange. I received the Honor Holly 2plus today. I found that my RECRUC06 SIM works on the Holly2 for voice and SMS only. No data. I then used another older SIM in the Holly and found that EVDO data worked perfectly. I then put that SIM into the MI3 and lo behold, EVDO data worked.

Now it gets really strange; I removed the old SIM and put the new RECRUC SIM in the MI3 and again data worked :surprise: . I restarted the phone but since then am unable to get data back on :bash:

The data started working for sometime today but only on 1x. As soon as evdo came back, it stopped. Went to a nearby Reliance Store whose person is very knowledgeable. He tried some settings and raised some complaints. He told me to wait for a day or two to see if the backend can find a resolution otherwise he advised me that on similar phones, sims with the RGE series (omh diamond sims) are the only ones working properly but as they are old series, people are black marketing those to upto 750 bucks. I have ordered one from a Delhi Webworld friend for about 500 bucks. Let us see the results. He also gave news that Reliance CDMA is winding up shortly and all operations will be taken over by Jio. And by evening I got news from another friend (who is personally using Jio) that Jio is starting operations withing the fortnight and sims will be available in 5~7 days.

So it's 500 bucks wasted for that sim that I have ordered....lolz. As eventually I have to shift all my connections to Jio anyways, and so will ALL OF YOU. So you can easily invest in this handset as its future proof. Only if they had made the 3GB/32GB model available, it is so much more value for money than the over priced Mi5. Was watching a 4GB rip of the Star Wars the Force awakens on it today and boy was I impressed, no stutters and great screen quality. It put nearly all my previous costlier phones (2-3 times costlier) to shame.

Cheers...

Just to be sure, will the JIO network work on MI3 and Holly2?

So that means I should wait buying redmi 3 till the jios launch

I have also called today one of the techinician who looks after reliance cdma tower

He says that cdma will be closed very soon

If that happens and jio takes over then I dont know what is the fate of our expensive imported handsets

Mines is a sprint note 4 i am dam sure it will not work on jio

Seems a dark future ahead

Whether this phone supports band 5 [850MHz] 4G ? Gsmarena says it doesn't. But it has volte support, which is very much important, IMHO...

@SmartSamrat;

did you try the MTK engineering mode to enable manually 4g for jio?

Also in some handsets like coolpad note 3 lite and coolpad for jio and data to work changing settings to enable 4g helps .

Jio is very well working friends on Redmi Note 3, yesterday only one of my close friend received the phone and he had put one sim that was of RJio. It worked out of box for volte and data both.

Your feedback on many issues is not very clear. RN3 will work with Jio 100% as it is a full VOLTe compatible handset with all 4G bands on which Jio will operate.

BTW what settings you have done on RN3 to work with REC sim. Kindly post screen shots of EVDO connected.

Hello All,

I am using reliance cdma sim in my redmi note 3 32GB flawlessly since last week.

I have kept the APN blank and inserted the sim in 2nd sim slot.

I am getting a download speed of 3 mbps.

Those who are not able to get high speed should activate the same by sending sms HSD to 55333.

Also dial *311 to activate call waiting feature.

The city I am living has EVDO rev A

Redmi Note 3/Redmi 3/Mi 5 supports CDMA BC0 with EVDO Rev A(unofficially)

Make sure to follow the steps.

Disable Mobile Data.

Connect to a working WiFi network.

Now remove your SIM Tray.

Make sure it says SIM removed

Now do a reboot.

Make sure that the Wifi is still connected.

See if you have the default internet connection set to CDMA one..

Now put your SIM Tray back.

Let the network stabilize.

Now disconnect wifi and enable Mobile Data ,should be working now..

If you want the network issues to be a less prevalent, then I suggest you move to the China Stable ROM.
