Reliance Slashes Rates to US & Canada - Rs. 1.99 per minute

Reliance Subscribers Can Now make Calls to US & Canada at Domestic Rates

Reliance today announced a significant drop in the calling rates to the United States and Canada on its Reliance Global Call Card. Now subscribers will be able to call the US and Canada at just Rs 1.99 per minute upon using the new Reliance Global Call Card of Rs 1900.

Making the announcement, Mr S.P Shukla - President, Personal Business- Reliance Communications said "We are very happy to offer this revolutionary rate of just Rs 1.99 which is lower than even the STD rates of most operators. Now, Reliance subscribers will be able to keep in touch with their business associates or friends and relatives in US and Canada without having to worry about the costs and we at Reliance are pleased to enable this change using our strength as a truly integrated telecommunications services operator".

Reliance Global Call Cards are a popular, convenient and a cost effective way to make International Calls to any destination in the World. Reliance Global Cards which can be used on a Reliance Mobile and Hello - Pre-paid or Post-paid enable PINless dialing and are available in denominations of Rs 115, Rs 225, Rs 575, Rs 1130 and now Rs 1900 at over 200,000 retail outlets across India.

No further details on how much talktime, validity etc available as yet. RCL should also introduce a calling card which will allow all types of calls - local, national and international. And also some other card which can be used on any Reliance handset - that is you can make a call from lets say one Reliance handset and then your next call using the same calling card from another Reliance handset. This is like the BSNL calling card. I do not know what is the term by which such a feature is called.

But why they are not reducing call rates to SAARC countries?

Because they do not have any direct link to any SAARC country other than the BSNL link to Sri Lanka.

It is a shame that so many years after the SAARC formation, the GoI has not taken any step to increase direct connectivity between SAARC countries on the lines of the European Union(EU).

In the EU, even the cellphone roaming rates have been drastically reduced for all customers within the 27 countries.
