Samsung SIM Phones uses Min Lock Once the TSim is Inserted First Min is Getting Stored into Phone than Other TSIM from Tata or Reliance will not Work

We require MIN Lock Breaker.

If we could can Generic Firmware This could be Solved easily

Samsung Uses USB cable and this Phone must not have any Support for Serial, But There are so many Mode to Upgrade like Diagnostic Mode, FLash ROM Mode and Phone Mode

It does not lock to particular MIN, but locked to MIN range. Its just patching of right place in bin.

Tata Indicom launches phone with dual technology

2 Aug, 2007, 1710 hrs IST, PTI

MUMBAI: Tata Indicom on Thursday launched a dual mode handset, Samsung Duo, which can run both GSM and CDMA based mobile connections.

"Instead of carrying two phones, a person can carry just one now with Samsung Duo," Tata Teleservices President Vinayak Deshpande told reporters here.

With the launch of Samsung Duo, priced at Rs 11,999, Tata Teleservices looks to attract subscribers of other service providers, he said.

The company would be launching about 15,000 phones in the next couple of days.

"Last year, about 2.5 lakh smart phone PDAs were sold. This year, smart phone PDA market is expected to touch 4 lakh," Deshpande said.

Samsung Duo supports data speed of 153 kilo bytes per second. The handset has 'panchang' and touch screen facilities.

The set has been launched in silver. As the market picks up, the company would look at launching Duo in other colours, Deshpande said.

Another Dual Mode from Spice

Dual mode phone handset launched

Posted at Wednesday, 01 August 2007 22:08 IST

New Delhi, Aug 1: Eyeing a market share of 10 per cent in next three years, B K Modi group company, Spice Mobile, today unveiled a dual mode handset in which both GSM and CDMA based mobile connections can be activated.

The company which has a target of selling 1.5 million handsets in this fiscal today said the dual mode phones are for the non-metro areas of town and cities.

The company which banks heavily on marketing and branding is planning to invest about Rs 8 crore on these areas. It has Bollywood actress, Priyanka Chopra, as brand ambassador.

"The new phone is targeted to all who have two cell phone numbers and have been looking for a convenience of carrying just one phone, we are targetting mainly the consumers of town and rural areas. By 2010, our target in the market share will surge to 10 per cent," Spice Mobile Ltd., CEO Kunal Ahooja said here, adding it is estimated that around 8 per cent of mobile phone subscribers already own two numbers and we do foresee this trend to grow in future.

The company is also going to launch 'People's phone' costing less than Rs 1000, he said.

Spice which sold one million phones last year, will start manufacturing the handsets in 2008, he said.

The Spice Dual comes with two variants D-88 which supports both GSM and CDMA active connections at the same time and Spice Dual D-80, which supports two GSM and GSM active connections which is useful for travellers operating in the local area. The price of D-80 is Rs 9849, while D-88 is yet to hit the market.

True , i totally agree ,, dual phone means it shhould be able to receive calls in both network

broadly speaking dual sim has evolved:

  1. 1st gen = offline asynchronous (restart handset to switch)
  2. 2nd gen = online asynch (no restarting)
  3. 3rd gen = synchronous (both SIMs on/able to get calls)

The Dual SIM phones contain 2 SIM slots, unlike normal phones, which have only one.

Samsung Duo packs in features like 2.2” TFT touch screen, 1.3 mega pixel camera, Micro SD Card Slot, MP3/ AAC+ player with A2DP Bluetooth support.

On the software front, the handset packs in handwriting recognition, file viewer, sketch memo, organiser and India specific applications like Indian calendar, Hinglish, cricket scorer.

This phone has two slots. One for a SIM card (GSM) and the other for a R-UIM card (CDMA)

But one thing is still not clear - Does only one slot out of the two work at any given time or both of them work simultaneously ?

Tech2.com has good details as well as few working pics.

http://www.tech2.com/india/news/smart-mobi...the-duo/11281/0

Seems good phone to me, but switching it off for using GSM s**ks. still, touchscreen mp3 player at 12k is not bad!

This phone belongs to second generation of dual phones that means it doesn't need any restart.

In the manual, it says just press a down key in idle and select the network. As simple as that.

I've very important question to all you folks.

Is is better than Nokia 6275?

Any day, both connections remaining active would be preferable rather than pressing the down key and selecting networks. This is something akin to the dual SIM connection which is available for maybe Rs 50 onwards, wherein you insert two SIMs and then rotate the connections by switching on and off your mobile. Instead it is better to carry two mobiles.

Sadiqbhai's dual mode phone supports both active connections and one can hold RIM while taking another call on your Hutch number or maybe you can initiate a conference also this way. (not too sure, though)

So friends, search for a phone which offers both active connections rather than a phone supporting only one active connection. Technology has advanced a lot now so why go back to the old days.

Yes, Samsung has an old habit of doing this to their customers. If you look up an old post of mine, I had even posted pictures of a serial data cable for Samsung phones that was available for less than 2 months. Then they suddenly took the cable off the market for fear of people cloning their phones. To this date, Samsung has not released any cable or any English/Hindi language software for any of the old phones.

And they still haven't released any software for this phone. So please do not buy this phone until they make available the requisite cable and software.

The Spice D-88 has already been launched and costs only Rs. 8,500 in my local market.

And it is a true dual-SIM dual-working phone. Both the networks work at the same time and one does not need to switch.

So it is a better option than the Tata Indicom locked Samsung Duo

I dont consider LG as aggressive player compare with SAMSUNG. You may never see any improved features in LG. Even Customer Care is also not upto the mark... :rofl_200:

Nope... Sorry, till now, no any news / innovation has been come up which can unlock DUO for RUIM... I think, we have to keep patience.

One more thing, may be consider as an Idea :

If one operator is having GSM and CDMA network then they should have this feature to change from GSM to CDMA or vice versa. Or they should do tie-up with some operators...

Cheers !!!
